We then started going to church on Sundays, and our kids love going to Sunday School and all the children's activities. The Pastors are so warm and welcoming, and the music is just beautiful. There are coffee/refreshments outside after each service, which I love. It has given us an opportunity to meet other people, and really made us feel comfortable from the start. Following my time as intentional interim pastor from 2021 to 2024, I was permanently called to this role in March 2025. Currently, our church is navigating a challenging season of recovery following a historic fire. While we are inspired to embrace innovation and "new things," even as the spiritual and emotional needs of our aging congregation have increased significantly. After losing their homes to the fire, most of our members face severe financial hurdles, resulting in a 50% decrease in donations over the last 18 months. However, I believe this is a Divine powerful and pregnant moment for our church and community. I am inspired by people and churches that find the courage and willingness to embrace new learning and innovation when facing insurmountable challenges. Not easy! We have had to cut our staff in half and are concerned we will also not be able to afford our worship service musicians. And all this while the primary mission and workload--the spiritual and emotional needs of our aging community--have increased exponentially. Our congregation is currently navigating a period of significant hardship following a historic fire that destroyed many of our elderly members' homes. These elderly residents of Pacific Palisades, who sustained our ministry for generations, now face severe financial hurdles and can no longer provide the support they once did. They too are in need of kindness and generosity. My current pastor role in this time of transition is between two distinct ministry life cycle stages: acting as an institutional chaplain within an assisted living environment and serving as a practitioner for our "maternity ward" of new initiatives. In the first capacity, my task is to provide those souls entrusted to my care with the confidence and assurance of the Lord's righteousness and the gift of eternal life and salvation as they reach the end of their earthly journey. This work requires a deep, ongoing relationship between pastor and parishioner. Simultaneously, our leadership team is focused on facilitating and promoting space for the birth of new ministries. These programs are designed to advance that same confidence in the Lord's salvation within the hearts and minds of the next generation. This remains our primary calling and our first love as a Christian church. So, my role is shifting between chaplaincy ministry for our elderly and simultaneously working to restore our facility, so it is usable by the community and envision a future for generations to come. This transition has been difficult, and our donations have decreased by over 50% in the last 18 months. But we our confident God's got a plan, and it is going to be really good! I sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings or offenses caused by our naivete regarding rental rates and building use costs. With nearly 700 visitors using our campus weekly, we are simply trying to learn how to set fees that cover the impact of this volume. We are not a commercial rental business; Our mission is solely to share the Gospel, and our services remain entirely free and dependent on free-will offerings. We ask for your patience and forgiveness as we learn to navigate these administrative challenges while remaining committed to our spiritual mission. What would Jesus do? He is already forgiving and patient with each of us. We ask for your forgiveness and patience as the Lord teaches us, through many of you, how to better steward our campus in this post-fire recovery season. This stewardship involves maintaining our substantial building, equipment, and paper supplies. Through trial and error, we are trying to find a rental fee that simply covers the cost to maintain and beautify the campus for our primary ministry, Word and Sacrament, while making as much space as possible available for community use. We love our community and those who use our campus, and we ask for your patience and grace as we work to recover and continue our mission to love the Lord and our neighbors.

I had the privilege of working at Renew for three years. God called out me out of ministry to…read morepursue other work, but I wanted to come here and say how much I miss working at Renew. The staff I worked with are the most genuine, loving, and supportive people. The congregation are mature in their faith and have a heart to serve each other and the community. Transitioning out of ministry can bring up a lot of complicated feelings, but I'm thankful Pastor Dihan and the rest of the staff provided a healthy and safe environment to openly express and process how I was feeling. I have never felt so much unconditional support from Pastor Dihan and Julie. I had a conversation with them about 6 months before I left staff about how I was feeling God calling me out of ministry. They pastored me through and they never made me feel rushed, replaceable, or in the way. I can't say enough about my love for the church and my gratefulness to the pastors and the rest of the staff at Renew. The staff has been through a lot and the fact that they are not only still standing but also thriving says God is with them and the church. I'm grateful to still attend Renew. It's truly a church filled with miracles.

They have a coffee next door which is adorable as most catholics come after mass. Walking in, the people are SO KIND and very welcoming! It is such a beautiful place, with high ceilings, architectures, and lots of incredible designs on each of the windows. I loved the priest, the music, and the people. The one thing is that if you sit in the middle main rows, you will be going last, this church does eucharist for those upstairs and outside first, then the sides, from middle sections back to front, so be sure to be patient! Overall, i'd recommend coming here, it was a far drive since I'm from San Diego, but overall great if you live near or around the area!

But if you check its website, you find that it's part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). When you scroll down to look at the Pacific Crossroads leaders, you may notice that there are no women pastors or elders there--maybe even no deacons. If you check out the PCA on Wikpedia, you find a complicated history on attitudes toward women.  For many years PCA interpreted the Bible to forbid women in leadership (never mind the many women mentioned as leaders, including Junia "prominent among the apostles" - Romans 17:6). But in 2016, the PCA voted to reconsider, and more recently they voted to allow women to be ordained; they also allowed any member churches who disagreed to continue refusing to ordain as a matter of conscience.  Then the PCA voted to rescind the "conscience clauses," so some churches that objected to women pastors left the denomination. Pacific Crossroads looks like a church that continues to refuse having women in leadership though it retains ties to the PCA, which has so recently changed. Maybe Pacific Crossroads just hasn't gotten around to electing a woman as elder or hiring a woman pastor.  Or maybe it's holding out against these changes. Whatever the case, you need to know these things when you decide to join this friendly group of Bible-believing Christians.

The lady on the phone was so nice and told me where to park, about security ect. I visited last night, the service was beautiful, the sermon was great, from the heart and powerful. Why only two stars you ask.... The congregation is very cold, not warm or welcoming at all. I have visited a lot of congregations in the LA area and this was hands down the coldest ever. Only one person spoke to me at all even when I tried. Next time my job has me in this area on Friday afternoon I will sit in traffic for 2 hours instead of wasting my time at this place.

It was a bit difficult to find people to connect with, but that is understandable, since I'm assuming volunteers had been up since 8am, and this was the last service for them (I've volunteered at churches before and I know how exhausting it can get at the end of a 3-back-to-back services morning).

But after visiting this church, being brought up by a church with a lot of icons, crosses and candles, this feels very different. Very good seating, rich people area so no homeless people around. The church does have outreach days with free food. Plenty events. You can get baptized too! Huge area for many people to attend. Great acoustics and speakers talking about our everyday life, struggles, and how to overcome them with God and be in peace contributing so much to our society. They have a number of TV's around and speakers so wherever you get seated - you will hear and see everything perfectly.
