Still I'm gonna try. 1st when we first met with the staff they went over the whole process and walk us thru step by step on how it would go. 2nd the cost was a factor and they were so nice giving us all the info we needed to make the decision easier. 3rd THE DAY OF. They did such a great job of reassuring us the procedure would go fine. Then right after they contacted us with an update with what was done and how it went. 4th Today is the first day home and she is eating well and acting fine. The staff informed us there may be some hesitation in eating but she seems to be fine. We bought two small chickens and deboned them. And she has been getting small portions of that. Along with with pain meds they gave us for her. All in All. I can not say enough about how happy and lucky I feel having gone with them. Thank you so so much

Also, a major plus: I got a pretty big discount on all of Atlis's surgical procedures (which were done during one surgery), making it a very reasonable price, in my opinion, given the quality of care and LOVE! I was anxious to take them to a new vet and this was their first car ride since the move (cats and flying :/). My boys did great and everyone from the front desk, to the vet tech, and Dr. Kemnitz were so warm and welcoming. They were thorough in their care, weren't rushed, and listened to all my concerns. I appreciated that Dr. Kemnitz's style was more conservative and avoiding tests and traumatizing my boys if it wasn't necessary. I'm happy to say that I've found a new vet here in Austin and highly recommend!

While they were good, it was a huge mistake. Even though she knows we're pulling up to the vet and freaks out, when you get in, at least they have confined spaces and extra hands to help handle the dog. They now have an exam room with an entrance from the front of the building. We managed to work it out such that the room was available when we pulled up and didn't have to go sit in the lobby waiting for a room. That said, there were still two trips through the lobby to weigh and then for her exam and shots. Dr. Kemnitz is a practical vet and I've been pleased with his work. God rest Dr. Holcomb.

They have been very accommodating with scheduling appointments, wellness procedures and medications for Kitty, and respond promptly to my texts and requests for information between visits. Kitty has been seen by Drs. Little and Tomlin and did great with both providers, and Dr. Heppner helped coordinate an alternative flea med and an anti-anxiety med when Kitty had an overreaction to his usual flea med between visits. Prices are in line with market forces (not cheap), luckily Kitty is healthy and only needs an annual visit from here on out!

We were recommended to Dr. Weinstein by our primary vet. From the first moment we met with him, I knew we were in good hands. He explained everything thoroughly and even caught a heart arrythmia before getting surgery. The cardiology team was able to stabilize her heart and were SO communicative during the entire process. Dr. Weinstein provided us with resources to help with funding, let us know he was always available via email, and truly made a super scary situation feel less scary. Fast forward to her surgery day, the nurse, Travis, made us feel so comfortable dropping her off letting us know he would be with her until 6 PM and answered my 100 million questions. Her surgery was so quick and Dr. Weinstein then called us again with an update on how it went. That night we received an update text message from the nurses Jessica and Travis with a picture of our girl. When picking her up, Fame gave us an incredible rundown of how everything went, very clear instructions on how to take care of Sadie post op, and once again, answered my 100 million questions with patience. We even got a hand painted bag all the nurses signed and a little stuffed toy. I truly cannot thank this team enough for not only their exceptional care but the customer service aspect as well. It is heartbreaking to hear your dog has cancer, but this team truly goes above and beyond to make it as painless as possible. Thank you all so much. We are so thankful for you all!

My pup underwent radiation treatment initially back in December 2025 and they not only the most economical option I came across regarding treatment with an oncologist, but the level of care for my pet....the customer service was extremely on point. And the treatment worked! Unfortunately, remission only lasts so long and I went right back to them to inquire about following up and I was taken care of immediately and with the same level of care I experienced previously. I've read some negative notices on this thread and I don't discount anyone's previous experience. This is a business that has to deal with extremely sensitive situations and very sensitive times in people's lives and largely, insurance doesn't cover what we need for our pets. I'm fortunate enough to have the means to cover the expenses, but what I will say is VCA was extremely accomodating to my circumstances when other oncologists I approached definitely treated me as a cash grab. I usually don't write reviews, but felt compelled to put in a good word to support a local business as is typical here in Austin. When I see good people doing good work, especially during a time of hardship for me, I'll do what I can to spread the good word. Thanks again to the team at VCA for taking care of my pup and giving her an extension to her life, I'm forever grateful for your work and efforts.

Please read if your dog is large or deep-chested…read more This review is long overdue. The loss of my dog was profoundly painful, and it has taken me a long time to find the words to share this. I brought my 12-year-old Lab to this clinic after she began collapsing for no clear reason. The vet said he could see nothing wrong with her aside from her known diabetes-related issues and intermittent blindness. He said she appeared to him to be fine. Not long afterward, my dog suffered an acute emergency and died from gastric dilation-volvulus (bloat). Her death was extremely painful and traumatic. I have since learned that unexplained collapse can be one of the early warning signs of bloat, particularly in large or deep-chested dogs, and that there are preventive procedures that may be available. I wish I had been given any guidance about this risk and the options available. I am writing this out of responsibility to other pet parents. If your dog is at higher risk for bloat, I urge you to ask very specific questions and seek additional opinions. I hope sharing our experience helps another family avoid the pain we went through.

He gives lots of options and doesn't try to pressure you into doing everything. And he explains everything. He answers questions. All this and he truly is a pleasure. I have read about - and can understand- how difficult it is to be a veterinarian. I really hope he enjoys his work as much as he seems to. I'd like to continue to have him care for my pets for a long time!
