We love Austin Canine Rehab - Dr. Sonia, Dr. Michelle, and Caitlin. They've been treating my 13.5…read moreyear old Standard Poodle Lucky for almost a year. We initially started when Lucky was slipping (and falling) on our hardwood floors and dragging his back feet when he walked. Then Lucky got aspiration pneumonia which led to a diagnosis of GOLPP. So, Lucky will be getting PT from here on out! His sessions focus on strengthening his core to prevent the falls, balancing, reminding his older body/mind how to lift his feet higher when he walks, and strengthening his hind legs which have become weaker with age and disease. The sessions are super fun with cones, unstable surfaces, obstacle courses and of course, manual therapy. Dr. Sonia has given us an easy list of exercises to complete in between sessions and Lucky can't wait to do them daily. The PT sessions are not only building up his strength, but they lift his spirits immensely. He runs to see Dr. Sonia or Dr. Michelle when they come. He loves the mental challenges of the exercises as much as the praise and focused attention he gets from the physical aspects of the sessions. They take a copious amount of notes that they submit to Lucky's vet on a regular cadence. They communicate the calendaring of appointments extremely well. They are always on time and they never cancel appointments. Austin Canine Rehab is an excellent partner for Lucky's stage in life and because of them, Lucky has probably got more gas in the tank and a longer time with us.

At age 8, after an injury that didn't seem to heel completely, she was not able to enjoy her time in the park anymore, so we sought out some doggy PT or rehab services to hopefully help her regain some of her flexibility and mobility. Dr. Sonia worked with her on strengthening her doggy core and legs, and on balancing her weight so she wasn't putting so much pressure on her joints. She taught us to follow up with PT exercises and we saw some real improvement. Our dog was able to enjoy a road trip last summer and play in many lakes and streams that required some walking to get there. She'll never again be able to hike long distances, but she is able to experience more fun adventures, thanks to her rehab. Dr. Sonia also used a magnetic pulse mat that seemed to help as well, so that has helped with ongoing support.

Chase rocks! She is currently working with me for a few reasons (too many details to get into). I…read morewas a little worried at first if insurance would cover this therapy for me and also if this would be for me. Chase helped me call my insurance company (giving me the right questions to ask them) to get verification that these services would be covered. The traffic to get here is a little bit of pain but I have been feeling overall better. I enjoy the use of equine into my therapy because I am huge animal lover. I never realized that horses can have such a vital role in helping me in my progress but ever time I leave here to head home my mind is in a better place. Interestingly enough, I had taken a sensory processing test during my evaluation and found out things about myself that I had come to live with throughout my life. I would have loved to have this type of therapy when I was a child but back in the 80s this would have been laughed at. At least back in Ohio where I grew up.

She actually cured me from debilitating sciatica and returned a horse schedule for euthanasia to work. I have been nothing short of astonished at her in-depth training and knowledge and how it manifests in her approach to horses, humans and humans on horses. I have consulted her on numerous cases and will continue to do so. I can recommend her without reservation and continue to use her for all our body work.
