If you are a pet owner ask why you need to anesthetize your animals to clean their teeth? Most vets…read moremention teeth cleaning as a necessity each time you visit them. Why? Money, money, money. Our vet recommended teeth cleaning for our 12 year old dog with a heart murmur. She said that bacteria from the tartar can aggravate the murmur. I was presented with an estimate of $1200!! Why? Our dog's heart murmur put her at high risk and it required a "team" of anesthesiologists. Estimate was $800 for our young healthy cat. If you have your pets' teeth cleaned under anesthesia, carefully read the release form. They pointedly state that this is a high risk procedure. Many dogs have complications from anesthesia, mental and physical. Be prepared for clean teeth on a sick dog. I searched for a non-anesthesia teeth cleaning service. From the first phone call, Canine Smiles was the right choice. It requires a vet's approval. After my high priced dentist said they could not authorize it, Canine Smiles referred me to another vet, Sunflower Holistic Dr. Keller. I got my approval for both animals. Total cost for teeth cleaning was $300 for BOTH animals. And, they trimmed their nails. My dog's heavily tartared teeth are now sparkling white including her molars, her breath is great, and she had no gum bleeding or other problems. The same for our cat. I have used non-anesthetic teeth cleaning previously in Seattle. This was by far the best service and result. I cannot recommend Canine Smiles enough.

Avoid this company like the plague. I first contacted them pre-Covid and was told they would charge…read more$60 per dog. They asked me to get a form signed by my vet, Which I did. I showed up today, and he started aggressively interrupting me, asking what my vet would charge to put my dog under anesthesia. I asked why, and he said he wants to charge 60% of what my vet would charge. I told him my vet has charged $200 for past teeth cleaning, and he interrupted again and said, "that's not what he charges"-now I am confused. Did he listen in on my calls with my vet? Is he a stealth Edward Snowden and he is monitoring all my credit card charges and email exchanges? Like WTF. So I mention that perhaps he should just have a fee schedule and stick to that, instead of trying to figure out what my vet charged me. But I guess that would mean he would have to take the time to do some work. Anyway, he interrupted me again and said, "$500 for the two dogs!!!! What? I ask him how he came up with that number. He said I don't understand supply and demand. I think I was getting shaken down, mobster style, except he is not a mobster. I asked him if he has any vet training. He does not. I tried negotiating to $75 per dog, and he flat out said no. I said, well I guess we are done. Then I got into my car and he was grabbing my arm saying, hold on a minute. This is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. He does not have any vet credentials so I would give this company WIDE berth.

I forgot my phone at home so I don't have pictures to share but from the moment we walked into the office I felt comfortable. The waiting room is inviting and warm. The receptionists are friendly and there are snacks and a drink fridge!! They have great artwork all around the lobby and patient rooms. I am a plant lover and the room is filled with everything from pothos to monsteras. I did give the pothos by the tv a little drink; it was thirsty. Dr. Lawton is knowledgeable and thorough. She answered all of my questions and left me feeling like Roxie was in great hands. We have a plan moving forward and that puts me at ease. Roxie is 15 and overall very healthy. They even found a gap in the leptospirosis vaccine that Roxie has been getting forever. My previous vet's office (which rhymes with Shmestlake Animal Hospital) let her lepto vaccine lapse so now Roxie needs this shot and another one in three weeks. :( They even give you a bottle of wine for being a new patient/customer. Nice touch! :) I'm so happy Roxie has a new home at Firehouse. Your pet will be happy too!

Firehouse Westlake has been so fantastic with the care of our 20-year old calico cat, MayBea. From…read morethe time we noticed our senior cat had an ailment to our ultimate decision to have to say goodbye, we were given such great care. After a week of Maybea being gone we received a lovely and heartfelt condolences card from Dr. Bonnet that was handwritten. We could not have been happier with the gentle care and honesty we received at Firehouse Westlake. We were very happy to have been cared for and by Dr. Bonnet and Dr. Dillon and their staff as they were always professional, honest, and sincere. Technicians were so thorough and communicative on every step they needed to take with our pet and her care. They were so kind to us at such precious moments and decisions. The transparency of cost and the estimated time for medicine/pickup that was communicated to us at the get was spot on. We had no delays or disappointments in the meticulous care Dr. Bonnet provided. Having a 20-year old senior cat can present challenges (besides her being a spicy/mean cat) and added stress for vet visits. Dr. Bonnet really cared for us and provided professional and honest opinions in determining care for Maybea. Scheduling appointments via the app and/or calling in to speak with staff was always friendly and kind. The waiting rooms and exam rooms were very welcoming for us and our cat when we came to visit for appointments. Parking is super easy and they have about 6 parking spots that are dedicated to any pet family coming in which we appreciated. Now as our kitty has passed on my partner and I promised each other that we will no doubt make Firehouse Westlake our center point for care with our next and new pet. Thank you to the entire pleasant, kind, and caring staff at Firehouse Westlake. We truly appreciate your kindness at one of the most challenging and difficult times in our lives around our pet's health. Thank you!
