Been to both Kelly for a bikini wax and Alex for a brazilian. Didn't love my experience with Kelly, so wanted to give the place another chance with a different waxer. I've had my fair share of brazilians and have been looking for a new place after my waxer moved east. This one with Alex has to be the most painful! At first the wax was a good temperature and then she started slathering on a lot that it dripped all the way down and it was super hot for my sensitive area. And when she pulled it off it was big chunks so it hurt like crazy. As she was tweezing the hair too she didn't care about whether she was hurting me and digged very deep that I was bleeding in a few spots after. Post brazilian, I'm still swelling and bleeding a bit. OK, so Alex and the front-desk team get five stars but I'm bumping this down to four because I had the weirdest eye brow wax of my life there...the provider for that was not the most professional and there was some weird conversation in the room. I hate when you go somewhere to kind of treat/pamper yourself and wind up hearing about your provider's life problems. That being said! I have seen Alex for Brazilian sugaring and she was AWESOME. I'll be booking with her again. Great "bedside" manner and she did a great job, barely painful at all. The front office women are also rad. And maybe some clients really like to hear the nitty gritty from their provider's lives, just not my thing. Alex France all the way!! I didn't know what to expect, but I was hoping for the best. I had been seeing an aesthetician in Nob Hill but she wasn't available and my little "situation" had turned into an out of control beast. Needless to say, I couldn't go one more day without getting it taken care of. So I decided to check this place out. The receptionist on the phone told me that they normally use hard wax and sugar for Brazilians (which I don't particularly care for), but said I could discuss other options when I came in. Although running a bit late, I made it within my allotted appointment time. This place is pretty easy to get to (parking can be a challenge at times, but not impossible). I walked in and the waiting area was cute and decorated for Halloween. I was offered water or wine upon arrival, and immediately knew I get used to this place. My arthritic isn't Dani was ready as soon as I arrived (since I was already running a bit late). She ushered me into the room and I asked her about my waxing options. Unfortunately she informed me they only use hard wax. I told her my body didn't like it, but heck, I was already there and my situation was dire! So I figured I would try it out again. My last hard wax experience was something for the memory books (and I don't mean that in a good way). But Dani seemed very confident and told me she would go slow. About 15 minutes later, she was literally done and I felt like a new woman. Not only did the waxing go well, but it was a little less pain than what I was used to from using soft wax. I couldn't even believe how fast she was, while also being courteous and keeping things clean and professional. I was thoroughly impressed! She has renewed my faith in hard wax and made me a new believer in all its goodness. Highly recommend coming to this place for those new to waxing, or looking for a quick touch up. II did my first Brazilian wax at the reWaxation on Divisadero with Gabriella and she was amazing! I was a bit nervous as I didn't know what to expect (except pain lol) but she was super efficient, friendly and knows exactly what she was doing. She was easy to talk to and had a very calming presence which I think is very important as you would want to be as comfortable as you can be when you're half naked and are getting a part of your body peeled off lol. I appreciated the fact that she simply started the process without telling me. The surprise factor took away a lot of pain. Not gonna lie, first time sucked. I have been coming to reWAXation on and off for about 10 years. All of the waxers seem very nice and professional. Most recently I have been booking Sam Bass specifically. My first time meeting her was truly a spiritual awakening. She basically told me to stop hooking up with a man that was toxic for me. Something about a hot stranger giving you relationship advice that really lights a fire under your ass. Anyway- I walked out of the salon and vowed to never sell myself short again with men. To this day I have not gone back to hell. The wax itself is super gentle, quick, and mostly pain-free. She even shows me the really good strips with all the hairs with the roots so I can stare at them and run my thumb across the top in awe. 10/10 would reccomend. read more

They have large waxing rooms, good music playing and the most important thing to me - hard wax! Their hard wax formula is great. I barely felt the brazilian, by far the easiest one I have had. Today I had my 2nd wax with Alex. I had my first wax with her maybe a year ago? That visit was the worst experience of my life, she convinced me to trying sugaring for the first time since it helps to decrease the chances of ingrowns. It was the most painful experience ever that afterwards I literally had to decompress & cry in my car I was in so much pain. Never wrote a reveiw & regretted it. It was my first sugaring & I heard they are usually a little more painful than waxing so I just brushed it off as im never gonna sugar again. Fast forward to today I scheduled a random waxer for my brazilian & immediately recognized her when she came out to get me. Immediately she stated I was doing a brazilian wax + happy trail & then once I get on the table she asks if I wanted sugar or waxing, i gave her a hard "WAX." She was kinda rough with spreading the wax, didn't ask if the temp was okay, she would also spread wax on one side of my labia & then use that leftover on the other side (not sure how hygienic that is I always assumed one stick/swipe per area), & then would just rip the strips off no warning. The wax seemed rushed but oh boy was she meticulous on the extraction. I was literally squirming in pain & girl just kept DIGGING FURTHER. I have a good pain tolerance but god damn I should have never said yes to the extraction. I regret tipping her but it's just a SF habit for me now. I came home & used the bathroom & my undies have various blood spots from where she did all the extractions & my skin is visibly red & irritated (more than what I normally experience after a wax & I have been waxing at this location for almost 2 years now). She's also rather standoffish but I personally love that, I don't really prefer the whole small talk thing so that aspect of her I like. I still love this location & many other waxers (Payton, Sam, Kelly & Kim) but I will make sure to never book with Alex again. read more

Waxing is not the most comfortable experience and is pretty personal, and so it's nice to usually have a friendly and assuring person doing it, but the person I saw today was really unfriendly and told me sugaring hurts more than hard wax usually and that I should do hard wax (which I know hurts a ton and is why I switched and many others switched to sugaring). I had to walk out because it's such a personal thing and I was so uncomfortable. Edit: This is the 3rd time management has had to talk to a reviewer to explain "kelly's perspective." Yes i felt defensive because Kelly was not nice. She did not put me at ease and made me feel very nervous for the wax with how she was talking about the pain of waxing in general. And i specifically asked if she was saying that because there has been a gap or because sugaring is "WAY more painful" (her extreme language) in general, seeing as how i switched to sugaring for my bikini line because it's less painful, and she said that no it's also just that sugaring is way more painful for most people in general even for bikini lines. How am I supposed to trust someone who is saying something like that and so cold on top of that? Sugaring is def. considered by most people to be a less painful option, even if you google it that comes up, and if as an aesthetician you've been told "its way more painful" by most people then you're probably doing it wrong and shouldn't claim to offer sugaring. Edit 2: i think your responses say everything ppl need to know about your business. You weren't in the room. You didn't see what she was saying or how she was treating me (including before we even had that conversation, she was extremely cold like she either couldn't stand me or the job) yet you act like you were there. Also, she said that "most of the time, for most people, sugaring is more painful, even if not brazilians... the reason people do sugaring is for ingrowns, not because they're less painful, they're actually more painful for most people." Those were her exact words. Of course I felt defensive between that and her abrupt and unfriendly way of treating and speaking to me from the get go. If you cared about my experience, you'd offer to call me and really hear my side, not be so defensive yourself. I am not the first person she has put off, and i can see now that i surely won't be the last. Your responses speak for themselves, and I see why i was treated the way I was now. Honestly, this is terrible customer service. My appointment was 5:10, I was parked about to walk over at 5:12pm (traffic was extra awful). I got a call from whoever was in charge of the front desk at 5:12pm where I explained the situation but was told if I didn't get there by 5:15pm my appointment would be cancelled and I'd be charged. I asked if that was the case even if I was a few minutes past 5:15pm (it was a 5 minute walk) and I was told yes. Since I was flexible with them prior and moved my appointment when they requested so they could maximize the estheticians schedule, I asked if we could just reschedule and use the late charge as a credit since I was trying to be flexible with them. I was not so kindly reminded that if I didn't want to move my appointment I didn't have to and that they would not do that. I understand having a late policy, but I feel like there should be some flexibility and compassion considering this is San Francisco and traffic and parking aren't always so easy :). Moral of the story, if you go here and they ask you to move an appointment to help them out I wouldn't do it because they sure won't be willing to work with you even if you drove the 20 minutes there and are 5 minute walk away! read more

I booked my first wax in this place but unfortunately I get late (I took almost 25 minutes trying to find a place to park close and walk to there) and when I finally arrived there I receive a text that I was too late and I will be charge 50% of the price because that. Dani was recommended to me by a friend and she definitely lives up to her rep! She's quick, thorough, and professional. I've got pretty sensitive skin but she must have some kind of magic technique because this is the first time my skin has somehow been completely fine. Along with the thorough job that she did, she is also super friendly and easy to chat with. The facility itself is nice and simple. It's small enough to feel cozy without being cramped. It's got a laid-back sort of rustic but modern vibe. Everyone there seems pretty friendly. My only suggestion would be that if you're like me and have sensitive skin, or just really particular (also me), you may not want to go with just whoever has the next available appointment opening, as the estheticians there seem to have a range of experience and techniques. There was a mix up and I ended up seeing Kim who doesn't do sugaring, but I didn't mind waxing, so we went for it! I'm as smooth as a baby's behind now. Not only do all of the lovely ladies do an excellent job and provide friendly service, but I can tell the owner of this business takes care of her employees and puts people and principle over profit. The annual trip to Vegas for her employees is amazing but this fundraiser where she donates to worthy causes like a woman's right to choose what she wants to do with her own body shows that she cares about more than just her bottom line. First-time visitor and I actually really liked this place, but unfortunately the quality of work leaves a lot to be desired. Two stars for the clean facilities and friendly service, but I realized there were problems after leaving: first, I had a strange red slightly-raised abstract rash/blotchy spot on only the lefthand side of my bikini area the following 3 days. I'm not sure what it could have been from, but I've never had that reaction to wax at other places before. Furthermore, the fact that it was only on one side but not all over lead me to think it might have been from the method of waxing vs the wax itself, otherwise it would have been everywhere? I'm not sure. The second issue was that I noticed a lot of broken-off hairs growing back in after only a couple days. I noticed that the aesthetician would slather the wax on quite a large area at a time, which might have snapped the hairs instead of tugging them up at the roots. I've always had it done in smaller sections before, about the surface area of a business card I think. Lastly, I realized over the course of a week (I got a brazilian, so didn't notice at first) that there were hairs missed entirely in the back. Honestly no idea how it could have happened but I found four! How on earth?? Again, has never happened to me anywhere else. I feel bad leaving this review because she was very nice and friendly, and answered my questions about the sugaring wax option. And they're open after work hours, which is awesome! I would still recommend them because of the location, customer service, and hours, even if it didn't work out for me. read more
