Was there with wifey for hours at a time, while Dr Baumgartner attempted to install a crown that once came in yellow, and on another occasion was made faulty so that the screw wouldn't take inside the implant. He then left her with the yellow crown 3/4 screwed in. No more Newhall for her, we have to return to Beverly Hills to get this right. read more

I usually hate going to any dentist but Dr. Shimada is like the tooth fairy... not the one who takes your teeth and replaces it with a dollar, but the kind that fixes it to feel better and new again! I had sharp pains every time I ate because a fill broke and my original Prosthodontist is in San Jose. A friend recommended her so I called and booked an appointment right away. When I got there parking was a bit confusing but if you do it once, you will get the hang out of it. I filled out the normal paperwork, the tech took me in to take an x-ray, then I saw Dr. Shimada! She asked me a few questions, examined the x-rays, explained what she say, then looked at my problem tooth. She is so friendly and has good bedside manners. She and her assistant did not rush me or make me feel like a "number" so I appreciated it. The best part is she is so skilled with her hands! I am usually a nervous wreck in the exam chair but her steady hands gave me confidence to get that numbing shot. After a few moments of prodding and drilling noises, she took out the broken fill and gave me a new one that no longer hurt when I bite! The numbing wasn't too bad either, I was able to eat a cookie a hour later... All in all, a really good experience and I would recommend her because she has such good bedside manner and the knowledge to take care of your teeth problems. Fear no more, come to her :) read more

The worst experience I have ever had a dentist. I would tell anyone to stay far away from this office. They have terrible communication and do poor work. I went to get a temporary crown and was in the chair for four whole hours. They got the mold stuck in my mouth, made the temporary wrong, amongst other mess ups. After three and a half hours of sitting in the chair, I was on the verge of tears and expressed how I wanted to go home to which a hygienist responded "I have a three year old at home I want to go home too." After making another wrong temporary the dentist said "It's fine I just want to get her out of here." I was in utter shock. I left the office with a crown placed so high my mouth couldn't close. The crown snapped off in three days. The two dentists also don't communicate AT ALL. One told me I didn't need crown lengthening and the other asked me when I scheduled my crown lengthening surgery since I now somehow needed it. Turns out, I did not need it after getting two second opinions. Terrible dental work and terrible bedside manners. I would stay as far away from this office as you can. Went to a new dentist to get my tooth fixed and couldn't believe the night and day difference between how they handled my dental care. I now have anxiety attacks when sitting in a dental chair. My new office handles me with such care and couldn't be happier to accommodate me. Do not go here. read more

I came in to Dr. Baumgartner's office on a referral from my oral surgeon, Dr. Scaramella. Dr. Baumgartner's staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I was impressed with the office decor - they obviously put their $$$ into treating patients well, not providing a fancy office space (who needs that?). I had a terrible dental side effect from cancer treatment; the care I received at this office was just great. They took great care to study my condition and provide just the right care that was needed. I have since improved and the side effect has ceased, thanks to their expert care. Dr. Baumgartner is very well versed in issues of TMJ and jaw alignment; he will be our family dentist from now on. I had been going to a dentist who was very gentle and very nice but in cases where you need expertise and individual care, Dr. Baumgartner's office is the place to go. read more

I was WARNED before I went to this office. I should have listened!!The doctor and owner they call Dr. B is an idiot. Went to this office with a specific order from a top hospital (UCLA) to make a specific type of night guard. Due to frequent adjustments UCLA wanted me to find an office close to where I live. I called this office and asked if this doctor knew anything about TMJ the receptionist Debbie assured me that he was qualified (not even close) outcome Dr. B took it upon himself and made me a device that he wanted to make which ruined four teeth. I would call and tell the staff what happened that the device was filing down my teeth I would get hung up on. Mind you I've been coming to this office now for over a year. I went back to the Dr./Director of UCLA and showed him my teeth and the device that Dr. B made two bottom ones have holes and two front ones that are filed down on the inside. UCLA's Doctor said yes that hard plastic device he made damaged the teeth. I made an appointment with Dr B. to discuss this matter with him and he would not take any responsibility. I said to him "how do teeth that do not touch" which Dr B admitted they do not touch get holes? No answer!! What he did was take tooth cement and patch the hole which they charged my insurance a lot. On other dental matters I asked his assistant Judy why doesn't Dr.B ever address my questions her reply was "Dr. B doesn't remember anything" Wow! that's reassuring. Here's another kicker I've been going to this office every three months for a cleaning never once has a doctor checked my teeth. I would mention that I have pain in the upper molar tooth no one ever addressed it. I went to a dentist in the valley in Encino to have them check that tooth since I was getting nowhere with this office x-ray showed a cavity so deep I needed a root canal. I called Sondra at Dr. B's office and asked " how can someone get their teeth cleaned every three months for over a year and end up with a root canal" reply " that's a good question" I mentioned this to Dr B he did not believe me. I've been going to hygienist Lisa for over a year and she did not see a cavity growing? They gave me a big quote to fix the holes in the teeth that they damaged with new crowns mind you before I came to this office I already had brand new onlays. When I questioned Sondra why do I have to pay this big bill to fix teeth that you ruined Debbie the receptionist got up and told me I had to leave I told her I wasn't talking to you I'm talking to Sondra.... Debbie got up and grabbed me by the arm told me if I didn't leave she's calling the sheriff. I'm thinking wow I can't believe that I've been coming here for years and this is how I'm treated but when you first come to their office they're so nice and kind and sweet. I left and the next day I received certified mail a letter that I no longer was a patient and to find another dentist. I was too nice I should've sued Dr B and had Debbie arrested for putting her hands on me. When I first came to this office they had one review now he has two other prosthodontist women that work there. One worked on me Dr Shamada? I liked her. This is just another moronic Santa Clarita office. My advice to people is travel a little bit further and go to San Fernando Valley for your dental work not a rinky-dink office in Newhall. I will say the nicest person that works there is Julie and Judy was nice also.......I'm adding this after I posted my review I left this important part of the story out. My first day in this office I handed Dr B the order from ucla was to make a night guard out of Talon material. After his hard plastic night guard damaged my teeth I asked Dr B is this a Talon Night guard he said no we don't make those here. That was the whole reason why I came to this office was to make that Specific night guard. Mysteriously the paperwork from Ucla that I gave him the first day was nowhere to be found in my file. My dentist told me there were two specialist options for my severe bite problems. Dr. Baumgartner and UCLA. Only two opposing teeth were touching when I closed my mouth. Dr. Baumgartner took impressions and said he'd have to take some time to do an analysis. He didn't want to do anything because it might throw off my bite somewhere else. I can't imagine it being any worse but I went home. Two weeks later, I went in again, this time it was an emergency. My gums were inflamed and I needed relief. He gave me my options, all of them costing thousands of dollars, all of which I could not afford. At the second appointment I begged him to file down the two offending teeth and he did. He has a perfect cast of my mouth - not a thing I can do with it. He charged $1,130.50. I paid $615.63, - $157.53 that I asked them to bill my insurance for because they had neglected to. I think he's not getting many reviews because other people besides me have mixed feelings. The Office did their best to accommodate me but I felt I paid a lot of money for him to take 15 minutes to file down two teeth. My bite is still way off and I know he's right about the cost to fix it. At this point, I can only do damage control. read more

I would not go anywhere else! When my elderly mother developed an oral infection a few years ago, I was referred to Dr. B. by a neighbor. When I saw the level of expertise, the care, and the gentleness in which the Dr. and his staff treated her, I knew we struck gold! I decided that I too would switch over to Dr. Baumgartner as well, even though he is not a participating doctor in my insurance plan.
