Today I had a stress less experience at AV Dental Surgery Center. My anxiety issues with dental procedures were instantly reduced thanks to the great care of Dr.Lopez and assistant German. Dr. Lopez entered the room with the biggest smile and cheery hello. He made me feel calm and welcomed. Assistant German was just as attentive and inviting. I was referred from Lancaster Childrens dental in regards to my child's tooth extraction. However, the female doctor has no regards for kids pain. After the anesthesia had been administered, she proceeded to extract the tooth almost within the same minute, and not wait till the mouth was numb. When confronted, she said that the anesthesia kicks in faster for kids. Yet my kid still screamed in pain & told me she felt the pain of the extracction. Take your kids elsewhere is my suggestion. read more

I'm leaving 1 star for AV dental surgery center in Palmdale, CA. Not because the service I received from the dental surgeons is for the service that I received from their biller, Her name is Sherri. She was extremely rude to me. She doesn't know how to use her ears. To listen to what I was saying. I had to ask her on more than 4 occasions to allow me to complete my thoughts. On what I was trying to get her assistance about. The information I was trying to give to her. I had right in front of me, and she would not let me complete my thought or say it. She's just a rude interrupting hangup on me at one point she called me a BITCH, so if you guys choose to go to AV dental surgery center. I hope your experience is better than mine. dr portnoff was very helpful and quick with her evaluation of my wisdom teeth. I only had them in the top so she was very hopeful about how easy my recovery would be, and she was right! my only problem was how I have tiny deep veins (due to genetics) and the medical staff had trouble finding my veins for the anesthesia. they poked me in several places and it started hurting so bad I started crying. i think dr portnoff heard my outcries and ran back into the room, telling them to let her find the veins. she was gentler and knew what to tell them, warming up my arms to help her find one. luckily she found one in my wrist and got it in. The insides of my elbows have small bruises now, I wish dr portnoff was in the room at the beginning to see how uncomfortable the assistant's vein seaches were making me, she probably would've been quicker. We thought we would have to do the extraction awake. Luckily, I was asleep in seconds and of course don't remember the rest of the visit, but my husband said that they were gentle with me when he came to take me home and gave him the instructions for how to take care of me. read more

The quality of the dental care was standard, but their billing protocols are questionable. If you use a credit card or debit card to pay your estimated portion of treatment, you will be charged an additional 3% as a "merchant surcharge fee." If you pay $1000 they will charge you $30.00 more for this merchant fee. You cannot avoid this by attempting to pay with a personal check because they only accept cashiers checks, or cash, in addition to debit and credit cards with the merchant fee. I find their requirements to be very rigid and the merchant fee to be extremely high. Nobody carries around thousands of dollars in cash and you'd have to go to the bank, knowing the specific dollar amount, to get a cashiers check. read more

Hands down the best!!!! The most affordable place I've been too. My surgeon was dds. Portnoff she was sweet and explained everything. As nervous as I was as I hate any dental work, I was treated well before sedation I was very comfortable. And In no pain after! The pain I had before my molar was pulled out just disappeared. I did bleed a lot more than expected but honestly I'm not swollen, the pain is non existent. I will definitely return again for a bone graph and tooth implant. read more

Nice staff but Dr. Portnoff was very pushy and rude. I won't be returning to them for my implant, I was pressure on the spot, with anesthesia already injected in my mouth (which was beyond painful) to make a decision to get a bone graft because she told me that I cannot get it later on and I needed to decide now, which I wanted to do some research before paying a couple of hundreds of dollars. Again, the staff was beyond nice, but the doctor was not, until I said yes to the bone graft. She even apologize for sounding like a cars salesmen which I felt she read my mind. read more

I was very disappointed with Alex Lopez. I asked if he accepted my insurance, the office confirmed that they did. When I was there they informed me that they wouldn't get a pre-authorization and wanted me to pay out of my own pocket and handle my own insurance. The front desk staff is very friendly...but I cannot say the same for Alex Lopez-he has a very poor chair side manner. read more

Very happy with Dr Nakano and this office. My boyfriend was referred here from our dentist and everyone was so nice and professional. I had to get my wisdom teeth removed but was hesitating because other places told me I would have nerve damage but it got to the point where it just had to be done. I ended up going to a different dentist and was referred to Dr. Nakano and i'm so happy I went to him. After getting X-Rays my appointment came quick. I was very nervous but everything went smoothly and not to mention he called me later on that evening just to make sure I was ok which I thought was great! Most people after procedures don't follow up. Not to mention my recovery was AMAZING!!! I had NO PAIN what so ever and no nerve damage! I would recommend anybody to Dr. Nakano!! read more

As a nurse, I know the importance of oral health and the problems that can occur if oral health is disregarded. However, I've always been fearful of dental work since I was a child, and because of that, I have not always taken care of my teeth as I should have. Over a year ago, I needed to see an oral surgeon emergently due to my tooth causing me great pain. Dr. Nakano saw me right away. He took me in even when he was busy, and extracted my tooth. The overall process was so calm. He is the most compassionate and patient doctor I have met with the cleanest office! Since then, I have had an implant placed. That process was definitely frightening in my mind, but reality was quite more pleasant than I imagined. Dr. Nakano and staff are superb group. I trust my family and friends to go to him. read more

Best Oral surgeon in the Antelope Valley. Removal of wisdom teeth was 45 minutes max, very fast. Their customer service is the best, and makes sure you are very comfortable. They call you the next day to ask how you woke up, and give you tips. They even give you a little goody bag with a syringe for hygiene purposes and a packet of instructions for the following week.
