Mixed experience with this company. The packing itself was generally good, but communication about timing for pickup and delivery was terrible and packing of one of the storage units was haphazard. We'd just confirm a time, and then it was changed... more than once. Because of repeated miscommunication, we didn't arrive in South Carolina until the crew was nearly finished. One of the storage units appeared to be packed haphazardly* (which I pointed out to the lead mover); he assured us it was fine. The doors were locked and no one entered them until our move out day. (*) it was a rush job since they were trying to get back on the road to FL. They changed the timing multiple times - including morning of arrival - and although they started long before we arrived - we indicated they couldn't leave until we got there). Two of the units were packed before my husband arrived. And we had to purchase an extra small unit for the last few items although they agreed the units we rented were adequate. And that took some time since it was a weekend and later in the afternoon.) A local company later handled the final delivery and unpacking since Rex cost to return from Florida to South Carolina was not affordable for us. We were present with the local crew throughout the process and discovered our 65" TV had been placed on the floor with the screen pressed against another item. It appears the door closing may have pushed it further.... resulting in a cracked screen. In short - after extensive back-and-forth communication - they accepted no responsibility. We also learned there was no insurance coverage, despite earlier discussions before hiring them. See one of many text exchanges attached. This was by far the worst moving experience I've ever had--and I've moved across the country multiple times, so I know exactly what to expect. This company rushed a delicate move and ruined it. To top it off, I got a call from the owner, Gale, legitimately crying because the bank transfers weren't going as quickly as she thought. My ex husband hired this company for my move after divorce. It was a traumatizing experience to say the least. When the owner walked in my home she snarked don't mind the old lady. I said excuse me? She said she knew I said that to her workers. Problem with that is I had never met or seen her before that exact moment. One of her workers who stated he is a recovering addict told me that the worker sitting in the truck was doing drugs outside of my house. This woman not only destroyed my material possessions but tried to get involved in my divorce and went as far as telling my ex lies, giving him the impression that I confided in her. On to what this company did to my possessions. They are supposed to be paino specialists. Well what I received is a scratch that went down the entire head of my Steinway baby grande. The owner grabbed an antique chair I had shipped directly from italy, by the top and it broke in half. She said she would repair it but needless to say I never saw the chair again. Now on to the most upsetting part o this whole experience. I watched as my jewelry box was taped up. When it was delivered to my new home I saw that it had been set up and the tape was removed. I was robbed. My priceless heirloom wedding rings were gone, as well as any other diamond jewelry. I I had three designer sunglasses taken as well, adding up to another almost $3000 loss. I did report this to the police but they said it was an issue for court. With everything going on with my divorce I couldn't take on anything else. She harassed me by text incessantly in the coming weeks. Using very foul language and threatening behavior. I don't think I will ever fully recover from what was so unfairly taken from me. Owner is psycho. But you would not know it at first. Employees are amazing and hard working. Went over and beyond. She asked me is it ground floor. Yes. It is ground first floor. I didn't think about the steps. Four of them. Shallow. Leading up to front door. I was in Texas when I set it up. Had been to house once. She didn't ask the correct questions or I would have said oh yes. Absolutely. Not only this. They could have refused when they arrived. But they didn't. Hard working. It almost wobbled over once Or twice. I stopped watching. But thing is. She called me a liar. Spoke into her phone and voice translated into her phone four books of texts. Saying how I mislead her. It is a complete accident. And then I was so worried for my piano when they were moving it. She randomly texted me a month ago when they had it in their storage and sent me pictures of a baby grand that was ruined. And I was like oh my god. And then she said oh. Opps. Wrong person. Another time she texted me saying they were ready to deliver it. It was on the truck. I was like huh?! And she said. Oh. Sorry. Wrong person. She is nuts. We thanked the guys and tipped them. I called Rex moving because I actually needed 2 pianos moved and one stored for a few weeks. Called Rex and they were great!! Quick to respond and reasonably priced too! The 2 guys they sent were David Bruno and Bill, can't say enough about them, they were fabulous!!! Great personalities, smart and knew what they were doing!! The owner of this business is awful to deal with. She answers the phone chewing food and cursing. I received low ball quotes from her and was bait and switched at the end. I asked her to please explain and she started cursing on the line. Her employee was great and tried to reason with her but she screamed at him cursing. Our experience with Rex Moving was extremely good. The guys loading the truck (David Bruno, Billy, David, Steve) showed just how experienced they were moving our Boston piano and 946 lb. Liberty safe like a choreographed team. Everything was assembled at the destination house completely and with the guys displaying a great attitude throughout the process. We had to move 2 large leather sofas (9 foot and 7 foot) in through the balcony on the 14th floor of our condo in Tampa because they would not fit through elevator, stairwell, etc. They were incredibly professional, friendly, and above all they got the job done!! Both days I used Rex Moving they were late but they included travel in the bill. Then it took to long for two to pack. 851sq feet. I had to do a lot of packing myself. Moved into storage a half mile away. Broken items and acid and a battery packed with home goods a mess. NOT PROFESSIONAL packers. Owner Gail-can't handle criticism. Worst experience ever. I've just used Rex Moving for the 3rd time. They've been phenomenal each time and I highly recommend them. I originally hired them in 2012 to move our grand piano and when I learned that they did more than pianos, I hired them to move our entire house to it's next location. Lots of stairs and no incidents. Picture perfect. I just hired them to move an antique piano that's over 125 years old that we just bought. Once again it was beautifully done. I've always dealt with the owner on the phone and she's been spot on with everything, from timely scheduling, reasonable quotes, and no surprises. The movers have all been professional and on time. This company is so unprofessional!!!! The movers were 2:45 hours late!! They took their time and the move was expected to be a small move and no more than 5 hours and I was quoted a price and it kept changing! The move took 9 hours!!!! They overcharged me 200!!! Watching these guys work is like watching the grass grow.$90 per hour and they might be worth $20.I am 64 and I moved everything from a 1 bdrm apt to storage and then a week later hired these guys to move it to new location 30 miles away.It took 2 guys as long to load the truck as it did for me to load ,unload and haul from apt to storage.Then it took forever to unload.Save some money and rent a truck and hire some laborers for 20$ an hour.Owner is all sweet and nice until you complain and then she does nothing but tell you how good they are. read more

Rex had the BEST communication ever and the price was LESS than quoted and done FASTER than expected. Further, the guys even packed my good china better than I would have and a lot faster as well. I would never have gotten thing done so quickly. They even organized my boxes in storage. No running around for boxes and newspaper. She recommends all her clients and has had nothing but great reviews from her clients . So I gave them a shot . I am very happy I did ! It was the best move I ever made . Moving is so stressful . Hired them to move a large gun safe. They claim that they ave been moving them for 30 years..... They showed up with three guys and absolutely no equipment for moving a safe. The first thing they almost dumped it on the ground off of the lift gate. Then they managed to get it into the house on a small four wheel dolly for furniture moving. In the process of moving it in the house across the carpet the pulled the Carpet off of the tack strips and stretched it to the point we will have to have it restreched. They got it part way down the hallway and there couldn't move it any more. They left it blocking access to 3 rooms in our house. Contacted the owner, Gail, and she was absolutely crazy demanding payment even though they had not completed the job. Refused to pay. One of their guys had oil or grease on shoes and left oily foot prints on our carpet. They were to come back the next day to finish moving it into the room and give us minimum of 1 hours notice. Ask Gail to have her guys wear booties like professional movers wear when they are in your house. Gail said they would be there at 3, then it was 5. Wife waited all afternoon for them. Then had to leave for appointment. Finally show up at 7PM with 3 guys and no equipment. Turned them away and rescheduled with Gail for 9AM the next morning. Told her 9AM or don't bother. The contacts us at 7:50 and said they can't make it then. I tell her 9AM or forget it. Didn't show so 3 strikes and your out. She went off the rails, crazy abusive. DON'T HIRE THEM. NOT SURE WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN MOVING BUT I WOULD'NT TRUST THEM WITH A DOG HOUSE. read more

Liars and thieves! They ruined so much of my furniture. A dresser was dropped in front of me. An antique chair was broken in half almost. My steinway piano was scratched. From the start this was one of the best experiences I have had, I've moved probably 10 times in 25 yrs, and never has it gone this smoothly. I was contacted personally by the owner and was able to reach her anytime I had a question regarding the move. From Grace E. BE WARNED!!! Never ever use Rex Moving of St Pete, Fl. without a prior written contract signed by both parties or they will SCAM YOU like they did to me two days ago. I contacted them by email weeks before the scheduled move, gave a list of items to be moved from point A to point B and asked for cost. Gale Valente responded in writing and said it will cost $360.00 by check or $350.00 cash. I opted for cash payment. I have the emails. Thereafter we corresponded by phone to schedule date and time. driver arrived 9.25 a.m. instead of 8.30 a.m. scheduled. They began assignment and half way thro driver said he will charge extra and I said we will talk when we get to destination cos I never negotiated move with him. On getting to our destination driver said he was instructed by Gale NOT TO OFF LOAD TRUCK UNTIL I PAID $630.00 UPFRONT. Shock. All efforts to reach GALE on usual phone failed. A man nearby read Gale's email on my phone, tried intervening and driver said he was acting on instruction, Driver THREATENED that if I wasted more time trying to reach Gale on phone my bill will go up by $90.00 more. I had to leave for Tampa Airport and driver came one hour late. I wrote a check for $630.00, gave the driver and they offloaded and left REX MOVERS HELD ME TO RANSON and cashed my $630.00 check SAME DAY. Greatest SCAM I ever saw in America. We had an absolutely awful experience. Every single piece of wood furniture we own is now scratched, dented, scuffed, and/or chipped due to pure negligence. The truck was filthy and we are still wiping down everything with sponges that are coming back black with dirt. Our items were slid across the ground rather than being picked up. Our white sofas were not wrapped and have black smudges. We paid for mattress and boxspring covers, but the covers were ripped, so the mattress and boxsprings also have black smudges. The finish on the top of our pristine white dryer was scratched and scuffed all the way down to the black metal. Rex claims to be a piano moving specialist, but thanks to them, we have a scratch all across the right side of our piano. The movers didn't pad the furniture while it was being moved and I'm not sure what padding, if any, was used inside the truck due to the amount of damage we had. There were three guys, but only one was moving furniture on and off the furniture dolly which was not sufficiently padded. We are so upset and sad about the damage to our belongings. These are pieces of furniture that we've owned for over a decade and have been through previous moves without so much as a scratch. Our encounter with Rex only lasted a few hours, but what is left behind is damage that we'll see for a lifetime. I wouldn't wish this heartache on any other business or family. read more
