Rex is real! I never met him, but this bar is great- like the 'Cheers' of Warsaw. It's divey and the boys can get a little rowdy, but no sooner than it heats up, it's handled in a cool way and things are back to normal. While in town for a project, I was out late and looking for something OPEN, for one, and I also wanted a place with GOOD FOOD. I read a review and decided on this place, but to be honest- there aren't many options on M/T. I walked in, and the Colts were playing on one TV above the bar. A friendly stranger made room for me to sit at the bar. I ordered something that they had just ran out of, but the bartender quickly offered me a similar suggestion. When my burger came out, I was pleasantly surprised- it was GOOD. I washed it down with 3/5 Metazoa beers they had on tap. What a cool beer selection. I definitely didn't feel like an out-of-towner here because everyone was so nice. First off I would like to say thank you so much to Crystal Stephanie and the bar guy running the door this evening my name is Chad and Jeanette Rothgeb we went outside to get some fresh air and I took my wallet and put it in my pocket and dropped it at the door the doorman took it to the owner of the bar and gave it to Crystal and she brought it to me the chef is outstanding food is amazing I can't say enough about this place. So, thought this would be a great dive bar with some good greasy American food. First, they do smoke there, and it's not very welcoming by the locals, but the waitress was nice. My burger was a frozen patty. Someone else in my party ordered the tenderloin. It was cooked frozen on a grill. The fries were decent. Pepsi on fountain. Coke in the can. This hole on the wall has been there since I was a child! We visited Warsaw back in October. My home town. I had to make a stop in there for old times sake. The world has changed but not this place and that is a good thing. We stopped by on a slow night. We may have been the only ones for a while before business picked up. I'm new to Warsaw, my fiancé has lived here for 25 years. Rex's is a great place to pop into and get a drink and a meal. Pizza and subs are very good. The Prime rib sandwich is freaking awesome! The draft beer selection is well thought out, and one tap always has a rotating offering from Rhinegeist Brewery. Staff are friendly and Robin, the owner, is a great guy who collects classic Triumph motorcycles. Yeah, they allow smoking. So what? Out of the dozens of bars and restaurants in Warsaw, Rex's is like one of three that permit it. The non smokers crying about it have a plethora of other dining and drinking options. So take their one star reviews with a grain of salt. The place has great ventilation so to me it's much ado about nothing. read more

Stopped here for lunch and let me tell you the first thing that hits you when you walk in is the cigarette smoke - lots of it. Seating is very tight with raised booths along the wall, but then there are lower tables that are sitting right next to them. Wanted to watch football, but the TVs were not very clear and it was hard to see what was going on during the game. Server was friendly, did a good job keeping our sodas filled, but overall was a bit slow at times. She never asked if we liked our food and we had to flag her down to order and get our bill. The food is just OK. Primarily burgers, fried appetizers, grinders, and pizza. I was able to see in the kitchen and the burger patties were frozen and the fries came out of a big bag. I can only assume that most of the appetizers are from a food service company as well. I had a burger and about the best thing about it was the thick slice of fresh tomato and the chilled leaf of iceberg lettuce. The crust on the pizza was obviously not homemade and the flavor was just OK. I guess you could say just typical bar food meaning nothing special. Overall this might be a great place to hang out and grab a beer, but I wouldn't stop again just for the food. Other reviewers have mentioned steaks (wonder if they are frozen like the burgers), the excellent coleslaw (but again is it homemade?), and the on tap root beer - which the server never mentioned and I don't recall seeing on the menu (but I wasn't specifically looking). My biggest issue is with the smoking - yes I know it is a bar, but it was just too smoky to enjoy the food. read more

The subs were delicious!!! I would have to recommend the meathead sub absolutely tasty for those who like meat. This is a great place for food after midnight. I wanted to mention that the only food available after midnight is subs and pizza but great nevertheless. read more

We were there for dinner around 6, and it was just starting to pick up. Full bar, wonderful beer selections, and it's been around since the 1930's! At night they have karaoke or live bands, and are open until 3a.m. Friday night (not sure of other nights) Standard bar fare here. We were neither ecstatic or disappointed. Although, my dining companion did order one type of steak and was given another. There seemed to be confusion either with the waitress or the chef. He chose not to pursue it, she seemed a bit rushed. I had the burger with mushrooms, swiss cheese and fries. Again, nothing spectacular, but standard bar food. Be forewarned, there are a lot of smokers in the place. What can I say LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL, in the best possible way. Love it. Burgers are amazing yum. It's the best dive ever. People are cool and chilled. It's a fully stocked bar. Steak fries yum. We ate at Rex's on our way to Marion. The food is good and the owner friendly. I got the patty melt and seasoned fries and it did not disappoint. They also have very good coleslaw They have Classic American Draft Root Beer on tap that the bartender let us taste, it was awesome. I tried the Maui Bikini Blonde on draft and enjoyed it greatly. Excellent service and liquor selection (especially whiskey/bourbon). Only bummer is I would have liked to have seen more local beers on tap.

I had the bacon wrapped pork filet. It was flavorful, tender, nice size on Wednesdays. Defiantly will have it again. The Broasted chicken on Tuesday is the best I have ever had. Juicy & tender & big pieces. The full bar adds to the atmosphere. You have to try this place. read more
