Expensive products which you can only get through them because of a monopoly with various manufacturers. Orders take 3-4 months to fulfill because they wait for enough quantity to bulk order. When part of my $200+ set broke I had to go directly to the manufacturer overseas to get a replacement under warranty. Reynaulds was not proactive nor hospitable to facilitate the solution. After waiting 2 months I followed up with the manufacturer, who agreed to ship the part to me directly. Communicating with Reynaulds' staff at this point became toxic and unproductive. At one point they mentioned "I have a million things going on with these tariffs so this doesn't cross my mind until we speak." read more

They have been around a long time, and I am amazed they are still in business. . I made several orders from them, and they ended up being out of stock on a few items, when their page stated they had it! They stung me, charging the order a full year later, when I had forgotten it! They loaded my bank card WITHOUT notification for about 1200 bucks, and my rent check almost bounced! I NEVER had any other reputable store charge a card without calling and emailing me, that a long forgotten order came in! . HOW THEY "RE-INVENTED" THEIR INVENTORY SYSTEM: . About maybe 4 years ago, I was curious to see, if they still had insufficiently defined inventory, and called them to verify stock status of a locomotive, without giving my real name. . Question: Do you have this Minitrix in stock? . Answer by Reynaulds: Yes, we have everything always in stock! . Question: Wow, that is sold out everywhere else! Can you check, if it is in the shelf? If you do, I'll buy it! . Answer by Reynaulds: I don't have to check, you can just order it now! We reinvented our inventory system! We have access to the stocks of all dealers in America, so if anybody has it, we will ship it! . WHAT? WTF!!! So they just send a guy in a black catsuit to the other dealer at night, grab it from the other store's shelf and sell it? Is that how they do it? How else would that work? NO other business would simply allow another one to sell their inventory from under them! I talked with a representative of the store today and he said he will do business with me if I remove the review, never acknowledging my issue with his company. Incredible! I've ordered from this company several times over the years and they have always been courteous and communicative. Once, there was an issue with a used loco, but they made it good right away. Backorders have occasionally taken time, but that's on the manufacturer, not the merchant. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys. read more

Basically I liked Reynauld's Trains. But smoke nice I preordered a maerklin Swiss e locomotive and some consignment items they put all that on back order and I never heard anything back. My last order of a maerklin consignment lock is still on back order after more than a year and the consignment side showed that it is in stock. Even more, they took my pay back money from former orders and it's gone now. I think they don't want to make business with me for what ever reason. I tried to delete my account but I can't find any way to do that in the web site. I have now back orders there but I don't want to have it anymore. I ordered and received the LS Models - Orient Express "Nord" 7 Car Set. I collect these passenger cars. When I received it - I looked at the cars and they are nice. I do not have a layout but have a two foot test track. I put the baggage car that goes at the end of the consist on the test track to check out the red lighting. It is plain to see that one of the three red lights is missing the red crystal as the light is yellow. Since January - I have texted and emailed Reynaulds a number of times about the missing crystal. They always tell me they will get in contact with the manufacturer and get back to me. My local train store no longer carries these crystals. You'd think that when you pay a thousand dollars for a set of cars they would make every effort to rectify this small missing part. I previously purchased another LS Models CIWL set that was $700. I am not purchasing anything else from them as it appears once they have your money - customer service is not a priority. I have never posted reviews for any business but at times you just give up trying to get what you purchase fixed. read more

I don't know why I keep ordering from them, they are probably the worst in the business. They have a horrible reputation among hobbyist. But they wooed me with an outstanding very limited model that they claimed only special distributors can get and that they have secured a handful and that they can get me one in 1-2 months. So early in the year I ordered it. It was a big ticket item. It's been 10 months. I sent them an email. No response. I will let you know if and what they might say. They will most likely blame the manufacturer. Nothing is ever their fault. Two years ago I ordered something and it never came. Exactly after one year I got an email from them inquiring if I still want it. I asked if they finally got it. They said no. I said thanks but no thanks. Are you kidding me? They just had a black Friday weekend special with reduced prices on 1000 items. Only thing is, now the prices finally reflect those of the others. As I have said before, they do have a cool website and a broad range of items, but only order after you have confirmed with them that they have it. And what the other reviewer said about the cancellation policy is absolutely true. Once you ordered something, you can be stuck in limbo for months. There is no cancellation. I give it two stars because they occasionally give good advice, have a variety of products and their website has a forum where you can ask questions. But there are other importers in North America. I tried to shop with this business online but I just kept hitting a dead end. I attempted to place an order initially last year but it was a bit deceptive on the website regarding if any of it was in stock. I don't recall getting any back order alerts except for maybe one item in particular that I was already aware of previously. One item (an HO single figure) out of all of my choices was in stock and it was eventually mailed to me. I paid full shipping (as it was originally calculated for all of the items as if they were shipped together). The rest of the items just stayed in limbo for about six months due to unavailability. I contacted them again recently and inquired about an update. I was told that some of the items weren't necessarily discontinued as far as they knew, but they were still waiting for them in a back order status. I am very aware of certain items being on a back order status because it was the case - even pre Covid. I talked to the owner Rey, as I tried to get some more and/or different HO figures that might be available; but it just seemed to be a confusing back and forth struggle mostly via email to see if they a actually had them. When I tried to email again about ordering them, they didn't respond back right away. When they finally did get back to me, they told me they tend to get over 300 emails a day, so apparently I got lost in the shuffle? It sounded highly disorganized and very much a sad and lame excuse. I gave up because I don't like getting the runaround; and I also don't feel the need to jump through hoops to get straight answers and proper customer service. I tried to tell them that, but I think they just dropped the ball on me altogether. Maybe my business isn't needed and they just don't want my money? I also didn't want to have to pay full shipping every time they just sent me one item (a tiny solo random HO figure) on my open standing order. When it was all said and done, I realized I definitely would be paying WAY WAY more than I should have for each item due to the shipping alone, and that's completely ridiculous. The shipping actually costs more than the item! The item definitely weighs far less than an ounce. That is an extreme sneaky and compounded fleecing of the customer. I agree with another review here,... Buyer beware in that you might think they have what you want, and then all of a sudden you learn that they don't have it. It's totally, unorganized, confusing and chaotic. Apparently the inventory system needs some serious tweaking/updating. I am just completely unimpressed and frustrated with the whole experience. I asked them to cancel my open order. No more unsavory surprises. I will definitely go elsewhere with my business. read more

It would be nice if the website actually told you if the items were in stock before you ordered them like most other vendors,clearly the computer system knows what's in stock because half the time after I order from them I get an automated email telling me that one or more items I purchased were out of stock. Had this happen multiple times in the past but always waited, on one occasion it took about 6 months for my backordered items to arrive which makes no sense, when I order from German vendors it takes 1-2 weeks tops to get from Germany to my door. On my most recent order I got the usual "item out of stock email", decided I'm not playing that game anymore, canceled the order and happened to check Amazon who had the exact item I was looking for in stock and I had it in 2 days. I always like to support small train stores but I don't think I'll be doing business with this one again. read more

I want to update my last review and upgrade Reynauld's to 4 stars. In response to my complains and concerns, they emailed me in a very kind way and apologized for what happened. I explained my concerns about the stock information on their website and they will address it and make further improvements with a new focus on this matter. With the exchange of emails we find a common ground and I will definitely order again from them and they will deserve a 5 star review then. I think we should not only yelling here and complaining. When a business shows understanding and the willingness to improve we should value it and upgrade a former review. read more

Great compny, one of the best I have delt with. The owners Reynauld and Roman were extremely helpful in helping me finding what I was looking for, and I recieved my order in a timely matter. The fact that some of the reviews on here are negative is very suprising to me, considering my experience with Reynauld's was extremely pleasant. It was also extremely nice shopping here because of their large variety of products. I was able to get an awesome Ferrari showcar, amazing Marklin locomotive model that absolutely exceeded my expectations, and Artitec Mark IV model tank, all in the same order. It is not everyday you are able to get such a wide range of quality products at the same time. Bottom line, I absolutely reccomend you do business with Reynaulds if you have an opportunity to. Did order a Marklin starter set early last week, while the store was closed, through their website to get back into a hobby that I had when I was young. I had several questions on power supplies (US market vs. European market) and received a fast response. Within 3 days after ordering i received the set delivered to my home. Being MArklin, instructions are very simple and I was running the starter set soon after the track assembly. I contacted them again to motorize and digitize the turnouts, and received an answer the next morning. Ordered the product, and it has been shipped. I believe it's just a standard USPS shipment so it will take a few day before I will receive it, but I can't complain about service. Contemplating to make a (long) drive over there from Louisville, KY just to see the store and their collection of rolling stock and track. (And buy more stuff). read more

Terrible customer service ! I bought some Marklin sets from them. I had to return one set of passenger cars because it did not run properly on my curved tracks. I returned in March 2017 and was told that I will get a refund after 15% restocking fee. I sent follow up email and didn't get any response. I called them again in May and was promised that I would get refund by next day. Didn't see anything refunded on my credit card. I have been calling them since 2 days during their office hours but no one answers the phone, or calls me back. read more

Reynauld's always goes out of their way to answer my questions and help with anything I need! One of the gentleman explained their backorder process to me. If an item is placed on backorder that means they have to wait for the manufactuer to make it and send it out. I like how they don't charge until after they ship your item.
