I got in touch with Juan by phone (text first, then call) on a Sunday while urgently seeking someone to trim a tree back from an encroaching window so that it could be replaced and sealed before rain. Juan responded immediately, asked for the address and a couple of pictures to help put together an estimate, then got back to me within 30 minutes and said he could come by the next day after another scheduled job. In the end, the window installer said they would take care of the tree, so I canceled with Juan, but the fact that he was so quick and supportive to respond and get something locked in for a very affordable rate (offering to dispose of all the trimmings and such) the next morning means A LOT to me. He was great in communicating and was able to send his estimator Ivan over to take a look at the property. Ivan gave me a great offer and we were able to set up a date and time to get the work done. I requested a quote from a number of companies here on Yelp, and Juan was the only one who actually gave me a number (and stuck to it). Everyone else wanted to come see it first, even with a photo. It's a small palm tree easily accessible in the front yard! We set up an appointment for early Friday morning and he sent me a text Thursday saying his team could do it at 2pm that day. Even better! I asked to clear the branches from any of the lines. Estimator mentioned they wanted to trim above the roof as well, I agreed. He also mention that they wouldn't cut too much in the inside unless there were dead branches. I asked that they keep the lower branches in the back to keep privacy. I feel the cut it way too much, it looks super bare now. It will most likely grow back, but that shade would have been nice during the summer. Maybe this is how an avocado tree should be trimmed, I'm no expert. I believe the communication between the estimator and the tree trimmers should have been better. On the advice of my gardener and his friend, a professional tree trimmer, both in the business for over 20+ years, I was told the results of the recent trimming of my Melaleuca tree were not favorable and needed more work to be done. Javier gave me a call to find out why I was unhappy because he wants his customers happy and satisfied. We agreed the Melaleuca tree needed more attention. Javier and his team returned to clean, open up and shape my Melaleuca tree with no added cost to me! The west side of the tree had some dead leaves and branches along with a "nest" of dead leaves causing an ugly issue which needed to be cut and removed. The north side still had some branches that were leaning over and congested overall. The inside of the tree had branches removed to let air flow and allow new growth. Javier kept noting why certain branches were cut and why not to cut too much otherwise termites will be attracted or the tree will die. I love my Melaleuca tree so I agreed to let Javier and his team remove what was necessary to keep the 40+ year old Melaleuca tree alive. I am very grateful Javier cared about me as a customer and didn't allow me to remain unhappy for any reason. They were able to come a day early as they had an afternoon appt. They even were comfortable starting without me being home. His crew showed up when they said they would and he even texted to let me know they were on their way. Juan's team trimmed and cleaned up four tall queen palms and two Pygmy palms. They look great. They arrived on time to do the work, which was removing a stone pine tree, grinding out the stump, and removing a few other bushes. They even trimmed up some of the other trees/bushes as a courtesy while they were there, which I really appreciated. They worked quickly and efficiently and fully cleaned up after themselves leaving nothing but some light wood chips in the areas where they ground down the tree, which is to be expected. A big tree in front of my front yard was hit by a truck and a huge branch fell off, blocking the sidewalk and curbside. I contacted multiple tree service companies I found on Yelp and they quoted me 300-800 dollar to remove the fallen branch. When I texted Juan, instead of quoting me with a price, Juan asked me for a photo of the street view. He told me the tree was the city's property and that I should contact the city and they would remove the branch for free. I called the city and turned out Juan was right, they did come to remove branch. Although I didn't up ending doing business with Juan, I appreciate his honesty 100% and his willingness to really help out customers not just for the money. From our short conversation, I did feel Juan is knowledgeable in his field and gives great advice.
