If you follow the treatment plan they want you to, you will remain in their good graces. They give a little allowance for your own concerns specific to your case, but have very little tolerance to do so. They won't hesitate to make you aware that they are in charge, that you are not, and you have to do what they say. Anyone seeing a rheumatologist is usually suffering from chronic pain or an autoimmune condition causing pain as well as other problems. The individuals that elect to work in this field need to have a tremendous amount of compassion and the ability to listen to the patient. I found this office, the clinical staff and the administrative staff are lacking in this necessary attribute. The worst of them being the doctor. They want to compartmentalize your care and if it's not specific to their "wheelhouse" , then they don't want to touch it nor do they care to even hear about it. But the human body works as one, and sometimes these paths need to cross. They can't handle that and they won't handle that. If you dare push back, they will fire you from their practice and they won't think twice about it. I have no doubt that there are good providers that work under this office, but I have not met them or experienced their quality care. They have lost sight of the goal. I don't know if they're trying to accommodate some mold or some grant requirements but they are running a team of bullies. Now, if you want to fall in line and be a good little robot, then they'll be tickled to death to work with you, but you're not allowed to have an opinion or anything remotely close to one. Do not dare to stand against them! If you need specialized care, do not go here! you will not get it. You will be dismissed! Do not go here if you need compassion and empathy and patience for your circumstance. They will disappoint you! You will be dismissed! It shows that the staff there have spent little to no time dealing with an ill patient, in the midst of a flare, bedside in an inpatient setting. They like their ambulatory, walkie - talkies. not even low maintenance, they like no maintenance. Don't have a crisis. Don't need an immediate response on ANYTHING. They are not urgent care! Nor anywhere close to urgent care! Dont need them because they don't need you and they'll tell you that proudly. You will be DISMISSED! They have a checklist and an order of operations, and they will go by that list and you will as well or they will fire you. You may have clinical documentation of why you won't fit that mold and that you need exemption and exception. They will fire you and YOU WILL BE DISMISSED! It is apparent what they are doing is old fashioned bullying! No one should enter their doors as a new patient without being fully aware of how they are about to be treated. It is inhumane and so opposite of the hypocrite oath. And I will just say shame on WBB for supporting your OFFICE MANAGER who told me I had no rights as a patient! The state of Tennessee would disagree with you! I'll never believe that this office ever looked at my complete medical record and even if they had it, I don't believe for a moment they read it. I don't think they were prepared in this slightest for me to be the exception to the rule and the fact that they have no tolerance for that shows in how I was treated. They will fail you! And FIRE you. They will be offended and leave you in the lurch. It's disgusting but true. Be very careful. Exceptionally careful. I attempted to be open minded ever since my very first appointment. Outside of being told I have "PTSD" and to "see a therapist", that is the most recognition that I got that I might be different from all the others. Saying that didn't change their approach at all. In fact, this doctor seemed annoyed about my affliction and has ever since made me feel like I was doing something wrong.. They don't try to help or do they even attempt to get you help or anything to assist you. But they push, and then they push harder, then even harder for you to make the changes that they want. The doctor rules at this practice!

Regrettably, he retired, and I was referred to a different provider who did not meet my expectations. Several months ago, I scheduled an appointment with the new provider. Everything was proceeding smoothly until I checked in a day before my appointment. To my dismay, I discovered that KOC had switched me back to the provider I had previously expressed dissatisfaction with. Upon contacting KOC, I inquired about the reason for this change. They informed me that I lacked the authority to select my preferred provider. This revelation has shed light on the circumstances leading to Dr. Ivy's retirement. I speculate that it may be attributed to the current operational practices of KOC, which differ significantly from their past methods. KOC's approach to patient care appears to be more dictatorial rather than empowering. By dictating which providers patients can see, KOC may inadvertently impact their health outcomes. Furthermore, the lack of respect shown towards patients' concerns is concerning. I guess I will be flying out of state again to see my doctors. Apparently, they have zero confidence in their patients abilities to make decisions about their own care.

His staff could not be more unprofessional. I have been going to this office for over a year and two months ago I started having really unusual neurological symptoms that arose from an area in my spine. Dr. Wakefield ordered several MRI's for me, including for the brain and the spine. When my MRI came back for the spine, something was detected and I was told I needed to get another MRI with contrast to rule out a lesion or tumor. Over these few weeks my symptoms have progressed to where it is affecting my ability to walk and even ended with me having to go to the ER because I lost feeling in the left side of my body. As I await this next MRI, my husband and I kept getting calls from insurance telling us that they needed the doctors notes and previous MRI test results to go ahead and approve the MRI with contrast and that they had had trouble getting ahold of anyone from my doctors office about it. Because of this, I have politely tried to explain this to a few members of staff. Never once have I been rude or raised my voice-- that is not the type of person I am and that's not in my nature. I got a phone call today from the office manager Janet who was beyond dismissive of me and made allegations that I was "harassing" her staff all because I called a few times requesting the information to be sent to my insurance company for them to proceed with my MRI. I am so incredibly discouraged with my treatment at this office. I have been nothing but kind and respectful to the nurses I hear speaking about other staff members and patients right out in the open, which is incredibly unprofessional in my opinion, and it is beyond incomprehensible for the manager to not take my issues seriously- she told me they cannot "drop everything for me," which is not something I have ever expected or requested of them. I just simply wanted insurance as well as my doctor's office to work together and submit what they need to in order for me to get proper health care. It seems like that is too much to ask for from the staff here at Norwood. I have also requested numerous times for a phone call with any of my test results, and the nurse refuses to do so even after being asked by Dr. Wakefield. I do not always have access to the portal so a phone call in the midst of the scary symptoms I have experienced to let me know where my health stands should not be a tall order. I feel like I am being pushed out of this office, which is incredibly confusing as I have never been a problem or cause for concern, and I have been nothing but respectful to the staff when I have been experiencing very poor health care. Threatening to discharge a patient over them POLITELY requesting that paperwork be sorted with insurance is a very bizarre move and really had me taken aback. People that behave this way should not be a part of the medical field or deal with people struggling with health issues. Looking at reviews on here, it doesn't seem like I am the only one and this is a recurring issue. Sadly I will be seeking a new doctor. I hope that the staff at this office is retrained to learn how to speak to concerned patients, but something tells me that won't happen.

Think multiple bibles (who reads the bible when waiting for an xray?) and religious magazines. If that wasn't bad enough, the clientele there is often in rough shape, near death with cancer etc. So they are clearly sending the message that they think you are going to hell and need to repent before death. Really inappropriate for a non-denominational medical facility. They seem to be confusing their medical obligations with their religious need to proselytize. No needless to say it is a very uncomfortable place if you don't subscribe to the religion they are trying to beat into you. It's a nasty vibe. Not caring at all. Do not recommend.
