It is super dog friendly, so be careful where you walk, but that's really the only semi-negative thing that I can come up with. As long as it's not freezing or raining, the park always has at least one person in it. And, with Green Central Station right next door now, you can rent picnic stuff or crochet to enjoy in the grass. My absolute favorite thing about the park is that it houses Do Dah Day every year! Definitely an event that can't be missed.

There is ample parking here at the park, but I can see how during large events that parking could become scarce. They have two lots; one is located by the tennis courts and other is shared with the Jewish Chabad Center next door. The main section of the park is completely fenced in and has a small picnic shelter with tables under it, a decent paved 2/10 of a mile walking trail, a restroom facility, benches, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a bunch of shade in this area and green space in the center where you could hold a picnic, play catch or relax on. You will also see a borrow a book box and a story trail in the are as well The are also has a playground area that is on a bed of wood chips and has traditional swings, toddler swings, tire swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a slide, A fire truck themed jungle gym with a couple of slides, a merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with monkey bars and rock climbing. The equipment is in decent shape and looked like kids would have a lot of fun here. Because the area is fenced in, it is popular for those with dogs. Even though they have many signs posted to tell you to keep your dogs on a leash, I saw a few people that did not while I was there. This is a very nice park that has a lot to offer. I love the shade that it has. Even though it is located off of a busy road, I still found it peaceful. This place is a diamond in the rough and you should really consider coming here if you are looking for a park to visit.

The Fultondale Children's Park is a great spot for families! The large grounds features a fenced in…read moreplayground and pavilion area as well as a grassy area with swings and statues of animals. Restrooms and additional picnic tables are available as well, but make sure you have a permit before having a party at the tables (call 205-281-7950 for permits) and note you are NOT allowed to have birthday parties under the pavilion per city ordinances. The Children's Park is located across the parking lot from the Fultondale Bark Park and you can also reach the Rails to Trails, 3.4 mile, running path from the park (note, it's a 3 mile trail if you start from The Children's Park and run left, take the path on the right and you're .4 miles from Black Creek Park). If you're looking to lengthen your run, the park itself has a gravel trail that runs the perimeters. If you take the path surrounding the park, you'll also meet up with Black Creek, there are a handful of benches to lounge on as your enjoy the sound of running water. This park has plenty of open spaces if you're looking to run around, lots of trees and plenty of parking. Two things to note: the front gate of the playground is regularly broken, so much so that it will not open enough to get a stroller or wheel chair through. There are two side gates you can use. Also, the park shoulders Stouts Road, which can have very high traffic, and only has a farm fence stopping children from running into the street. Definitely use caution if you have wandering little ones. Otherwise, look for the statues of the giraffe, fish, elephant, hippo and more and have a great time!

When we got it pulled up on the GPS, I was CONVINCED it was a mistake because we could not find it. We drove all around the block but could not see where it was, even though GPS said we were clearly there! We starting seeing a playground and open areas behind a bunch of houses, so we knew we were nearby. We drove around more and finalllllyyy found an entrance. It is hidden-- the entrance is on Kingsbury Ave. I've posted a picture so you'll know where to find it and what it looks like. There's also only street parking available. It was a Tuesday afternoon in May that we went, and it was so peaceful. The park is completely surrounded by houses (why it's so hard to find). There was only one other person there doing some running exercise. There's a playground, swings, track, picnic tables under some huge trees, and a good amount of open area. It was a hot day so we ate lunch under the trees, which kept us very cool. Then we played on the swings and playground as an attempt to relive our childhood memories! No bathroom or water fountain (maybe I missed that) that I saw. All in all-- a nice peaceful park. Maybe when school is out it might be busier, but I enjoyed myself!

Well shaded, this is a good place to go for a walk with or without dogs. Very pretty. There are bridges and a stream runs in the middle. There's a little wooden train and a small play area for little ones. Quiet and peaceful except for when the train goes by. We like walking our dogs here.
