Well we were here for a large party, we had a party of 11 and it took almost 2 hrs for our mains to be plated and served. We literally watched multiple tables that showed up after us get served before us and out the door before we were served. We ended up being the last ones to be served, when the food started coming it took sooo long for the food to come out sporadically. Half the orders came out cold and warm, the veggies were cold. The difference between the 8oz steak and 12 oz steak doesn't seem to exist except in price. ( I might need to start travelling with a food scale). They didn't have enough food to complete the appy orders. For the cost of the meals and the service that came with it was a bit disappointing. If you're in a small party you might have a better experience. Other that that the atmosphere was ok pretty much at par for this category of dining.

Rhythm and Foul ... so salty it made me question whether to ever eat out again. Service was good.

Far better places to eat in Canmore than Rhythm and Howl - poor service, average food. We did not have a good experience here.

This is an order at the counter, get a table marker (which is a fun super hero figurine), and they bring over the food. I ate my whole breakfast and had gotten a coffee which they had 3 choices of coffee to choose from (dark roast, decaf, light roast). Fun place and friendly staff!

The Huevos Rancheros is delicious, I got it 3 days in a row! They made it with a base of black beans and hash browns on a tortilla and then once the eggs and cheese are on it they broil it to toast the cheese and edges of the tortilla. The eggs were always a perfect over-easy and the chipotle mayo from the "loaded" has browns goes well with the dish. The staff is all super friendly and recognized me as a return customer by my second day there. They have toys they hand out to kids when families come in and the place seems very family friendly. In addition to the inside seating, there's a great patio that has a wonderful view from it. If you're here during the summer, I would definitely recommend sitting outside and enjoying the view and great food!

Go See The Dog…read more.... Our family of 5 was staying for a week in the Stoneridge condominiums in Canmore while visiting the area around Banff. The Black Dog Cafe is near the entrance to the building. - Overall: 5 (mainly for the drinks...pastries and the dog) - Location: 4 - Exterior: 2 - Ambiance: 3 - Menu: 4 - Food: 5 - Service: 5 - Price and Value: 5 - Bathroom: 3 - Parking: 3 - The Dog: 5+ Pros: - Location: Convenient to most of Canmore...especially to people who live or stay in lodging along southern part of Bow Valley Trail. - Exterior: Nothing much. You could easily drive by unless you were on the lookout for it. - Ambiance: Functional...not fancy. The big draw is the food and their very friendly big black dog. - Menu: If you remember it's basically a coffee shop, you'll be fine. - Food: Excellent. We went for drinks and pastries (and to see the dog) on 3 different days. The drinks we ordered (coffee...chai and chocolate) were fine. The homemade pastries were great - big and tasty! - Service: With a smile. At least one of the owners, a women, was there and she had a great rapport with customers. - Price and Value: Reasonable Cons: - Bathroom: I'm not sure they have one. - Parking: Creative. Most of the people I saw seemed to be staying at Stoneridge. Drivers need to park on the small street by Stoneridge or by the curb along Bow Valley Trail. The Black Dog Cafe was great for us because we didn't need to go outside to get there...the drinks/pastries were great and their dog is a sweetheart.

Black dog cafe's HOMEMADE CARROT CAKE is delicious! The barista was also kind enough to sell us an unfrosted carrot cake with cream cheese frosting on the side because some of the people in my family are lactose intolerant. The blueberry muffin is also excellent. The chocolate chip cookie was meh and not worth my calories. At least the cookie was nice and soft.

I wanted to try the mochi and nirigiri, but they already had sold out (they said they usually sell out by 10/11am) and we were too full for any more desserts. Ambiance: was peaceful in the garden house Service: we made a reservation as recommended and got there early, but they were able to seat us early. Very intentional service and fresh produce offerings. We unfortunately never made it to breakfast and didn't have reservations, so we never dined in. We ordered the katsu sando and croque monsieur from the lunch menus and matcha latte. These were the best bites of our trip to Canmore/Banff! The matcha was good; we ended up picking up some again before ending our trip. I recommend adding the kinako topping.
