This is an old school movie house that shows typically artsy films as well as new ones. They don't have the new recliners like all the newer theaters and you can't reserve your seats so it's first come first serve just like in the days of old. What this place does offer is ambiance! The seats are in very good condition (unlike most theaters), the eating/bar area looks nice..and adult. The interior looks like it's been carefully planned and executed with nice touches and color choices. I took my son here yesterday to watch a movie. It was our first time in this area and it definitely won't be our last. The theater reminded me of the classic movie theaters I used to go to as a kid. The seats weren't stadium but seeing the screen wasn't a problem. We had a really nice time and I look forward to our next visit. read more

Came here to see Wicked and was pleasantly surprised by the food and drink options. Everyone working there was very nice and helpful despite it being a busy weekend, and the theatre was comfortable and intimate. Their gladiator special pizza was delicious- a Reuben in pizza form pretty much plus bacon. Can't go wrong! read more

Let's start by noting how filthy the whole place is. The bathrooms are truly disgusting with at least one urinal wrapped in a a black trash bag. The grout in the bathroom is black, but obviously it did not start out that way. The lobby is a mess, particularly in the eating areas. The side counters with spices and such are yucky. The carpets are simply ignored. Not only is the food mediocre, but the service is like that of a fast-food outlet. Forget sitting down and being waited on and served. Moviegoers start by walking up to a counter to scan the billboard and then asked for their order. Any questions about any offering are passed over. One orders a meal and is given a buzzer that goes off when one's food is ready. Come and get it. At no time does an employee of any kind come to the table. Of course, the bill is paid up front but not before the computer asks if the customer would like to give 15 or 20% as a tip. This is not dining out. And this is a theatre that considers itself the premiere Art House in Sonoma County. No Thanks. I'll pass. read more

I try to catch a movie at the Rialto as often as I can to help support and keep it open. Having a locally owned, charming theatre is so important to our community. I took my 95-year-old mother to see the cat video festival here. We didn't realize that they offered food and would've loved to have known before hand and would've gotten food. There looked really good. The seats were fairly comfortable and one of the things that I appreciated was at the sound wasn't blasting really loud like some theaters do. read more

Intimate small-theater with non-traditional concessions. Met a friend for a matinee showing after and was more impressed with the theater than the show! This is the spot to come catch a film, especially if you're looking for some fun snacks. While their popcorn is just so-so, their broader menu offers a little something for everyone! We split a Reuben sandwich and Mediterranean hummus plate with a glass of Syrah and Pinot noir - simply luxurious! They even provide a tray and glassware to bring into the theater with you. I was quite happy with our experience, the dedicated parking lot makes getting to and from the event seamless. Worth a visit! read more

The best things about this theater are joe obly the variety of food options available to enjoy during the movie, but the quality of the staff that make it truly special. Ella O. especially was positive and provided a great customer experience for us during our visit. It's rare to see someone go above and beyond like that in a job that can be so fast-paced, but they did it effortlessly. Their attitude honestly made the whole night more enjoyable. This is an independent excellent theater that presents a mix of popular and less mainstream movies. They often show Academy Award nominees/winners and Cannes winners. Seating is comfortable, it's clean, drinks are good, food kind of blah but who expects great food at a theater? It's a great place of the movie part of dinner and a movie. What a huge disappointment. Nachos chips are stale, cheese is cools and not even cheesy. It's like they used sliced cheese, layer it on top I'd the chips, microwaved then served. What a mess. Bathrooms are diagustinf, and the staff are bothered by you asking for help or wanting to order. A 50¢ water bottle from Costco costs $5 here. They really need to update the menu, the staff attitude, cleanliness and quality to charge these prices. First time last time I come here and I've been to some really horrible places. read more

Lovely theater that shows a lot of art films or unique films that are hard to find, but also plays all the big movies too. I don't tend to see movies when they first come out, and I guess my taste is eclectic, so the theater is usually pretty empty when I go see films here. The seats are comfy, even if they're not the crazy all the way reclinable seats that some other theaters have. Theaters are usually clean, and the food choices are exactly what you would expect from a theater that shows at films in Sebastopol, lol. I like coming here for matinees of kids movies with my younger family members who are *ahem* not so quiet because these showings are usually the emptiest or only have similar family groups attending. The individual theaters are so small that I feel comfortable letting them run around or play with other kids. The last time I was there, it was me and one other parent watching Lyle Lyle Crocodile. Our two boys played in the front area of the theater while watching the movie. I also recently got a loyalty card for this theater. Apparently, they give $8 admission on Mondays to their loyalty members. This is the best deal that I know of in Sonoma County. Especially now that the Regal Theater in Rohnert Park shut down. read more

I like everything about this place. It harkens back to the 80s-90s when the Bay Area had indie theaters all over the place. First place I saw h-dust used on popcorn was in a dinky theater in Berkeley. They also play hits, but I go for the hard to find docs and odd stuff. In a world where retail suffers under the weight of pandemics and online services, and he with the highest profit margin wins no matter what, this feels like a movie theater that we just shouldn't have anymore. But, oh, we DO have it. We have it right in our backyards. And it's glorious. Going here and seeing a film after streaming movies or visiting at huge, gaudy, franchise chain theatre feels like dueling an old friend on an artfully restored pinball machine after spending two hours playing Candy Crush on a cheeto dust smeared Ipad. Yes, both are very similar forms of entertainment, but the former feels much more special and genuine. Buy craft beer from the friendly, positive staff in the lobby and drink it IN the theatre. Walk through the halls adorned with their original posters from blockbusters they showed before you were born. Take the wierd 70s vibes elevator to the top floor. And this seems like an odd praise, but the screen is a reasonable distance from the nosebleed seats. This sounds like me stating the bare minimum, but there's a theater nearby where the nosebleeds have you almost kissing the screen. It ruins the experience and promotes a terrible headache. I'll gladly pay more in admission and sacrifice padded reclining seats to be able to enjoy the movie without needing Advil. Excellent experience overall. Will return. read more

Love this little theatre so close to home that plays high quality films. The fact that they serve a nice continental menu certainly does not hurt. Good wines, small batch brews, and tasty dishes like bruschetta plates. They'll offer you a special tray so you can eat in comfort, quiet dishes that won't disturb the other patrons. read more

This has been one of my favorite theaters. This is where I saw Lord of The Rings. Also great that we have something like this instead of your typical AMC type theatres that ate taking over the country. Better for options than usual as well. The ERAs movie's volume way too low. We made polite requests multiple times, but the movie was still too quiet to sing along too. And we each spent $20 for those tickets, and with beverages and popcorn. Disappointed that Rialto didn't care about our experience. read more

My wife and I are from out of the area and visiting. This is our second time at this theater and our experiences have been pleasant and enjoyable. A great big thank you for validating responsible behavior in this pandemic. Love this theater. Plenty of free parking, great popcorn with real butter and the seats are so comfy. Lots of great choices right now and there were three of us in the 1:50 pm matinee. Don't drive anywhere else when you can be right here in Sebastopol and have a glass of wine, or a beer and watch a current flick. Fantastic local theater with current releases and special events. Rialto serves a wide selection of food and beverages in addition to good quality popcorn. We love the craft beer selection and the flatbread pizzas. The sandwiches and paninis are delicious. The atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. We saw three movies over the 2023 holiday season and had such a positive experience. Great movies, clean theaters with solid visuals and sound. Highly recommend this wonderful theater. read more

15 minutes for a hot dog? Missed the first part of the movie ... that is absurd. Still waiting ....

Now going on a half hour standing in the lobby...missing my movie.... Waiting for them to make 3 sandwiches. They told the lady in front of us, who ordered a single order of fries that it was going to be another 25 minutes (she's apparently already been waiting a half hour ). She protested and demanded they bring them to the theater as she's not going to miss her movie over this. They have 4 people working and a grand total of 3 people in the lobby. Not sure how we are outnumbered but getting horrible service. UPDATE: Another 15 min and the 3 sandwiches just came out.... COLD. Not sure how you take 45 minutes to make 3 hot sandwiches yet bring them out cold. FURTHER UPDATE: They are really scoring points with us. Well actually, they are losing stars as we go. They have left the house lights on during the first half of the movie. We are in a theater with a screen not much larger than my friends home theater, though he at least has the decency to turn the lights off when showing a movie! This local theater has come so far in the twenty years that I've lived in town. The sound system used to hurt, but that got upgraded many years ago and is just fine now. The biggest change is the food. It's not just popcorn and candy anymore. They won't be picking up a Michelin star any time soon, but it's really nice to have such a solid menu, including nifty local wines (this is wine country, after all) and great beer on offer. The other huge factor is the quality of their movie lineup. It's a good mix of mainstream and art house, including beautiful theater and opera performances filmed before live audiences in NY.
