Once we received our food, we ordered a side of queso and chips. There was no queso. When we finally did get the queso, it was a tiny container. Not even worth the extra seven dollars. The side of chips they gave us was as big as a bag you could get from a grocery store it was huge and they only give you these tiny little containers of salsa and queso. Ratios are not appropriate. Went here on a recommendation from a CoWorker. The food was ok, not over the top and definitely not the Texas Style BBQ we are used to. The food had good flavor but very little if any smoke ring or smoke flavor. I had the brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage. We just moved to the area and have been looking for a great barbecue place. And this ain't it. I had the ribs. Flavor was good but they were cooked to mush. And greasy. My brother had The Motherlode. Staff kept referring to the large party and the kitchen being backed up to anyone coming in. When I inquired about the wait time, she said it was still a long wait and would continue to be even after we were seated due to the kitchen being backed up with other people's orders.Outside of the 20 top table, there were a few other tables- not very crowded. RibCrib is my favorite BBQ place in Clovis. Usually, I go for dinner but today I went for lunch on a Sunday. I arrived at 11:30 and it was fairly empty. But it quickly filled up as noon came around. It seemed very popular with families. I was greeted by a friendly hostess and quickly seated. My server arrived promptly and took my drink order. I ordered iced tea which was fantastic! I am kind of a iced tea snob and RibCrib met my high standards. The tea was clearly fresher brewed and very good. The server was attentive but not overbearing. The food arrived quickly and was very hot. The lunch menu is expansive with many options including numerous salad options. I ordered the Pigman sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious. I really enjoyed the gravy. The sandwich was out of this world. It was piled high with various pork selections that were all cooked to perfection. Food- not great. We got the chips and queso as a shareable and I'm fairly certain they used 10 pounds of salt per one ounce of cheese. Meal wise I got the green chile burger. It was devoid of any flavor. McDonald's has better burgers than this place. The fries were good though. My wife got the classic burger. It wasn't that bad and it at least had seasoning on it. My kids corn dog looked like they left it in a deep fryer for about 30 minutes to long. Service- the only time we saw our waitress was when she took the order, when we got our drinks, and when they brought the food. They never came by to refil and drinks. Rib Crib in Clovis is the worst. Worst service. Worst food. We've eaten at several Rib Crib restaurants and they are always pretty good. But, not this one. Only 3 tables when we went in. I was in Clovis on a Tuesday afternoon for a work related meeting. I had looked up the best rated restaurants on Yelp way before I arrived. The Rib Crib stood out, and I saw they had an all you can eat special every Tuesday. This special was all you can eat ribs and sides starting at $15.99. I'm assuming it costs $15.99 for the St. Louis ribs, because I paid $18.99 for the baby back ribs (they have you specify which ribs you want when you first order). Combined with a $2.59 iced tea I paid a total of $23.35 (with tax) for a mountain of good food. My server, Halle, was super attentive and I never saw the bottom of my iced tea glass. By the way, the tea is fresh here and super good and they have both unsweetened (my favorite) and sweet tea. Halle earned her money this night because I had her bring me four, half racks of baby backs, Cowboy beans, a side salad with Blue cheese, pickle, and fried okra with ranch dressing. In addition, I had four glasses of iced tea. The ribs had lots of meat falling off the bone and were impregnated with smoke. I tried all three barbecue sauces: original, fire, and mustard. I thought the fire wasn't hot enough and had some off flavors, the mustard was too sweet, but the original was pretty good. To be honest, I ate most of my ribs without sauce, since the smoky flavor was so good. All the sides were steaming hot, except for the salad, which was large, fresh, and cold. I can't recommend a restaurant that lies to customers just to get you to come through the door. I called ahead of time and asked if they served beef ribs and they told me yes, however when I got there and inquired about it they told me they only serve pork ribs. I ended up ordering BRISKET 'N' BIRD which is chopped brisket and sliced chicken breast and two sides of your choice. The food came out quickly and was not even warm as if were already shared out and ready for someone to order it. Being from and living in a bigger city you obviously have a ton of options to choose from food wise. However, I must say that very few barbecue places would be able to hold a torch to meet the quality and flavors that this place can offer. I was kinda eh about trying it due to mixed reviews, but it was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, the options were plentiful, and the food was piping hot and flavorful The only knock that I am going to give this place was that the bathrooms were a bit neglected, and the toilet paper was so jammed in there you could barely get any out. But, the staff was willing and happy to fix the issues. Beyond that this place was very delicious and kept clean. It was definitely worth coming to check out and I did really enjoy it! Well, I have to say the food was worth the trip! Sommer to great care of me and her recommendations were spot on! I started with a Shiner Bock because, well because I could! Perfect temperature and a great top off to a long drive in from Lubbock! I chose the three slider platter and fries. There's a really nice selection of meat options and the portions aren't stingy! I chose the turkey club, 'cause it had BACON, the cribwich, and the Carolina with chopped brisket and tasty slaw. I put a little taste of their house special hot bbq sauce and it was perfect. The fries were nicely seasoned and an excellent accompaniment to the sliders. Too much food for me so i brought a whole slider home - you know for later! Yep the fries came back with me too! The food taste great don't get me wrong but we received our meat at lukewarm temps but the sides were hot. My wife and i got food poisoning while traveling on the road. This place was recommended by one of the hotel staff, what is most upsetting is that my wife is pregnant and food poisoning and pregnancy don't go well together. Luckily my wife and baby to be are doing ok. On a trip to Clovis to visit our daughter, we stopped in for dinner. Boy am I glad we did!! We were there on a Tuesday evening, which also happened to be "Bottomless Ribs" night! I would have given RibCrib one more star for being a decent BBQ experience in the small town of Clovis, except that, I still think the BBQ King, a food truck near the AutoZone and Burns Do It Center on Prince Street, smokes tastier and meatier meat in comparison. I also prefer sides that taste more homemade, like BBQ King's beans and slaw. My in-laws went to RibCrib on their own while visiting Clovis and told me it was awful but I think that is because they ordered salads. Who does that at a rib joint? Don't get the salad. Anyhow, I didn't let their experience deter me from trying RibCrib out. I felt like the sides were better than the main meats. The fried okra was the star of my meal. The outside was fried to perfection and the inside was tender and silky. The okra was not over-breaded nor over-salted like some okra I've had in restaurants. As for the other food, the ribs tasted ok, the chicken nachos were ok, and the warm blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream was a nice ending to my meal here. When you start a review with the fact that the restaurant promises draft beer, even on its own menu, and yet doesn't have draft beers in any way, it doesn't seem promising. However, other than the ludicrous practice (really, you have no idea how stupid this makes you look) of carding a 63 year old man and his wife, the service was actually rather good. But the food, and the copious amounts of it were the real stars here. I ordered the motherlode, which was pulled pork, chopped brisket, sliced chicken and a hot link. I was thinking it came with a rib, but it didn't. When I pointed it out to our waitress, she kindly corrected me, and 3 minutes later appeared with a nice rib, compliments of the kitchen. Really, really sweet. Anyway the meats were cooked perfectly, as was my wife's, and even though we picked 2 sides, it came with 3 other things (toast, corn on the cob, and coleslaw) so, tons of food, all good, swayed me to 4 stars. Experiences here really seem to be hit or miss. The first time we went was great. We had a server who was training who made sure we had everything and answered our questions. The second time was just about the worst dinning out experience we've ever had. For 5 of us, just about every meal was wrong or had something wrong with it. Our server was incompetent and did not apologize once and finally another worker or possibles manager had to take over and fix everything. Shame because we brought people from out of town because our first experience went well. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was lack or or poor wait staff due to Covid rehiring issues. A bit disappointed that I only tried out Rib Crib towards the end of my New Mexico duration. The food served here makes Rib Crib shine since we've had so many bad experiences in Clovis. Although Rib Crib is a chain restaurant, if I hadn't know - I never would have thought it from the food alone. This fairly big restaurant is located on Prince Street with plenty of parking. They have some AYCE bbq deals going on certain days, but nobody in our party really felt like eating an AYCE meal deal. While the décor is a bit outdated, I personally thought the restaurant was quite comfy - very "everybody knows your name" type restaurant where the servers are friendly and there's TVs playing all around. Ton of dishes including sandwiches, salads, and burgers - but if you go to Rib Crib, you're probably going to want the ribs right? You can order their Championship Ribs - St. Louis style or baby back style with your choice of sauce, or you can create your own combos. Their already made combos seem like the best deal, where you can try a combination of ribs and other types of meat along with two sides. However, their combos run at around $15 but you can order the AYCE baby back ribs for $18.99 or the AYCE St. Louis Style ribs for $14.99. These endless meal deals include unlimited sides and unlimited refills - so if you're hungry, THAT is the way to go! I ended up ordering some sort of combo that had 4 St. Louis style ribs, 2 slices of Texas Toast, and 2 sides for under $15.00. I think I went with the Oklahoma rub - a sweet and sticky sauce. While the ribs weren't the BEST I ever had, they definitely were pretty amazing for a local food place in New Mexico! The meat was pretty tender and cooked to the point of fall off the bone soft. I loved the Oklahoma sauce! Not as good as Phil's but the flavor was on point! Texas toast was also a pretty good addition to the meat as it absorbed the flavor of the meat. Tried the mashed potatoes and the sweet and smoky beans as my two sides. Mashed potatoes weren't anything too special, but I loved the beans! I actually got the wrong side order, but our server was quick to fix that mistake by bringing me the right one. In doing so, I was able to try the Cowboy beans as well! Sweet and smoky definitely is a lot tastier with that smoky undertone. I don't remember if they give out complimentary bread, but I was pretty impressed with the food and the prices here! tl;dr - Definitely would return and try their endless ribs! Ah the Rib Crib. A good stop on the drive between Santa Fe and Austin. The ribs are actually pretty good, and the sides as well. They have three sauces, though only one is spicy. All are pretty tasty, though. The decor is very TGI Friday's-ish, but it's large and there's plenty of room. They also had some stick toys that our kids enjoyed. The only negative is the awful beer selection (Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light). I mean, that's it. Seriously. With all the great New Mexico and Texas beers out there, that's all they've got.
