Wonderful food, great service and always a joyful ambiance. I eat here as often as I can and absolutely love it every time.

Stopped at Don Maria's in Clovis for little breakfast on our way to Santa Fe, Great vibe to this local spot on a Sunday morning. Lots of people, but still had a pleasant welcoming feel to it. Service was outstanding, super friendly and interactive, bonus points for keeping our coffee cup filled Eggs cooked to order hashbrowns cook very well, as well, the biscuits and gravy was pretty good... Sausage was a little bland. I wish it had a little spice to it, but I'm probably being a little picky. I zoned out and did not take a picture of my meal, but it was very tasty and will probably stop here again if I'm ever passing through at breakfast time read more

The Ambiance is fine. Smaller sized restaurant with different sized tables but you seat yourself so may have to get your own table for large party. Not loud unless you sit next to the kitchen, as you can hear all the orders. The service was good. There were a few items that were forgotten but was gotten quickly. I ordered the French toast as it looked delicious in the picture. Honestly, it left me a weird aftertaste. It kinda seemed like old and when I received it it was borderline warm cold not hot. I don't know what the hype is about? It must be a local thing. The service and the food were horrible. I ordered 2 eggs over medium with hash browns bacon and 2 pancakes and coffee. My guest had 1 egg with bacon and toast. I got 2 hard dried up eggs sausage and a pancake without syrup or butter. No cream for the coffee either that I have been waiting to drink since she sat it down 15 min earlier. My guest got her egg and my other pancake I guess! When we called the server over to get the things straightened out she gets the pancake from my guest and flips it over onto my plate to top my pancake and said I'll be back with your toast and bacon. She proceeded to come back with bread NOT toast and sat down 4 strips that I swear looked like dog treats! How old is the bacon they serve there? Nothing was warm and nothing looked like it was freshly made. Needless to say, we ate the chips and salsa and drank water for breakfast and paid $30 for it. Small spot was hopping on a Saturday morning. Has a dine in and an unexpected drive thru as well. We decided to eat here and we're quickly waited on. Ordered the breakfast tacos that I had seen on other yelp pictures even though they are not on the menu. 3 tacos, mix and match your meat and tortillas. Comes with a side of hash browns and beans. It was good. I'm a texan so my taco tastes are VERY ridiculously high so cannot say they were the best tacos but it was solid, a huge serving and I loved the beans/hash browns as sides. Passing through Clovis, looking for something local to eat, we found Don Maria's. We got there on a Sunday, right before noon. The place is small and is was full at that time. After we sat, our waitress immediately greeted us and asked what we would like to drink. Service was great throughout our visit. One of us had the country combo breakfast. The biscuit and gravy were really good. There was enough food to fill up the eater without over stuffing him. The other person had the Chile relleno plate. It was also very tasty. Two soft fried rellenos with rice and beans. Again, the right amount of food. I was impressed that the beans and rice had flavor. I totally recommend Don Maria's if you are ever in Clovis. read more

Don Maria's is a local restaurant in the town of Clovis, NM. I stopped by for breakfast on Saturday March 2, 2024 at about 915am. The place was full so that seemed like a good indicator that the food was good. Well, its not. I ordered a basic breakfast of eggs , bacon hash browns and a pancake with a side of what I thought was green chile. The hash browns were a grease sponge and not hot. The bacon was cold, and the pancake was as dense as rubber. The green Chile was more like brown gravy kicked up with pepper. I also had chips and salsa. The chips were deep fried corn tortillas basically broken in half, with some some fully intact ones in the mix as well. The salsa was meh. I was given a spoon for my coffee that hadn't been washed and had dried food and lipstick on it. The syrup decanter was sticky and hadn't been cleaned. The staff were attentative but not very friendly. Oh yeah, they charge a fee for using a bank card. I don't recommend this place for breakfast. Love this place! Their chips and salsa are amazing and you can never choose a wrong meal. Food is always super hot and fresh. I usually come here every weekend. Only thing I wish is that they were open for dinner every now and then, but I guess it makes them that more special that they are only open for breakfast/lunch. read more

My friend told me that Don Maria's has the best breakfast tacos. I made fun of her and said that New Mexico can't have good breakfast tacos, they are wanna be Texas breakfast tacos, I was sure of it. Boy did she prove me wrong! We grabbed some breakfast tacos before heading on the road and those puppies aren't to be messed with. We ended up having to pull over to dig in. They are not breakfast tacos, but in fact, ginormous breakfast burritos. I got potato, sausage, egg, and cheese. That thing was busting at the seems. My friend ordered a side of red enchilada sauce, so I tried it. That sauce was the best! The salsa can take the backseat; dip every bite into the red sauce. This place was not bad for Clovis. We ordered the Spanish omelette, Lynn's special enchiladas and two cheeseburgers with fries. The omelette was dry and lacked enough cheese for our taste, but the flavor was good. The enchiladas were delicious! But the beans tasted weird and the rice was bland. The burgers were good and they split the cheeseburger for our kids for no extra charge. We also ordered sopapillas but they were doughy and not puffy whatsoever, disappointing. Ate breakfast here, it was OK.... Nothing special. The prices i felt were reasonable, bought a Mexican omelet for myself and huevos rancheros for a friend :) It was good, it wasn't bad, just OK. We are new in town and have been trying to find all the good food spots. Our search as of right now is Menudo. We have tried Jalisco, good but too sweet. So then we were sent to Panaderia Sanchez, we were too late and they were out. We walk out with a Dr pans. So Yelp brought us here to Don Maria's. The hominy and tripe need to be boiled a little longer. We got chewy chewy bits. It was also lacking the flavor of oregano. I don't think any of these places put Pata in their Menudo, it gives a better flavor to the Caldo. Neither of these places offer toasted chili on the side. We did order a kids burger from there for my LO they didn't tell us its only half a burger. The fries were good and crispy. These little changes can improve diners experiences by far! read more
