I made the grave mistake of ordering the senior ribeye. I mistakenly thought it would be like a regular ribeye cut in half. No it wasn't. I have no idea what this meat was, but it looked like skirt steak. It was 1/6 inch thick. I measured it! I ordered it medium rare which is laughable, because you literally couldn't cook it to anything besides well done because it would take probably 20 seconds to cook. I received this steak after waiting about 50 minutes for our food. My boyfriend on the other hand, ordered a prime rib medium, and his came out not even rare. He couldn't eat it. They did comp the prime rib but we paid for mine. To make all this worse, it was SO HOT upstairs I couldn't stand it. Granted it was very warm that day, but if you get overheated quickly, do not eat upstairs in the summer.I'm afraid this will be the last time we go to my beloved Rusty Barrel. We chatted with her grandpa who eats there a few times each week. Her banker, farmer, entrepreneur father, who grills the steaks, came out to say hi, too. Other times when we have eaten there, my spouse and I have enjoyed the steaks and various potato preparations; all delicious. Tonight, being Thursday night, we chowed down on Kat's homemade lasagna, asparagus, and house salads. Everything was scrumptious. Our server was very attentive, and we had another wonderful meal. The decor features many authentic photographs that depict life in this small town through the decades.
