Ribot has indoor seating but the outside courtyard is quite charming. Menus are provided in English and the staff is attentive and friendly. Prices are very reasonable and portions were larger than expected. I received a large...possibly too large portion of grilled octopus. It was delicious but after devouring it, I actually was getting quite full. As if I did not have enough of it already, I also ordered the octopus pasta. Thankfully, there was no overkill of octopus in the pasta. The pasta dishes were okay. The veal roll was quite small but tender nonetheless. It also included a healthy portion of vegetables. Grilled octopus with confit tomatoes, capers and olives, potato purée Eggplant penne Veal roll and vegetables Octopus pasta

Items Selected: Warm Bread Basket Baccala and Polenta Gnocchi with Beef Ragout Squid in their Ink with Polenta and Lemon Zest Tiramisu Attempted as a replacement Michelin 1* MET the night prior, Sunday unfortunately finding the former's menu dull and the later restaurant dark, it was instead for Monday afternoon lunch that a walk-in visit was made to Ristorante Ribot, a 12h00 arrival making me the only patron present on the shaded garden patio - actually the only *person* as the English-friendly hostess tended to cleaning inside the restaurant with the waitstaff yet to show. Located canal-side on Santa Croce 158/160, a large space extending through the floral and wood-clad dining room to a white-tableclothed area guarded from the sun by umbrellas and a canopy of leaves, it was with slightly-too-loud 50's classics playing that seating was taken on flimsy patio furniture softened by fabric cushions, a nearly fifteen minute wait before bread, water or menu was presented, the lone-server bristling a bit when called on his error but eventually settling in and providing good service to myself as well as three couples who arrived over the course of a 75-minute stay. Purporting a prix-fixe and two menus via its Website, but apparently offering only a la carte choices from Venetian Classics on this day, it was perhaps fortuitous that my interests resided entirely in the old-world staples commonly found throughout the island city's history, a warm basket of dry bread neither worth the calories nor the stomach space beyond a single end-piece, the kitchen thankfully more expedient than the front-of-house as three creamy clouds of Salt Cod were presented slicked in Olive Oil and ground Pepper, the Polenta perhaps a bit rushed and thus slightly watery but improved in a later round. Hand-crafting a half-dozen Pastas in house daily, the small Potato Dumplings not as meltingly soft as others found around Italy, the Pork and Veal Ragout nonetheless came across rich and meaty with just a touch of spice lingering at the end, an entrée portion of cephalopods slowly stewed in their Ink with Saffron and Olive Oil given an acidic slant by way of grated Lemon Peel with Polenta here better in achieving the effect of a rustic, hearty plate. Crafting Panna Cotta, Molten Chocolate Cake and Tiramisu in-house, the latter served like an Espresso-infused Parfait with Mascarpone stick-a-spoon-up-straight thick, it was with a relatively high tally of €62 that the bill was settled for a meal that was good yet not any better than the cuisine available at Street-food purveyors or Rosticceria Gislon for pennies on the dollar, though the jet-black Squid is the sort of dish one would be challenged to find on a menu elsewhere, let alone back home in The United States.

RIbot started out fantastic . ..as I ordered the first plate of gnocchi which were delicious. The second plate took about an hour to arrive which was where they lost me. It was not a packed place so I am not sure what was going on in that kitchen. My second plate, swordfish, was fair. It was cooked well but the vegetables were cut in a way that it was nearly impossible to get them on the fork..imagine that. The wine selection was very good and very nice. Wait staff and ambiance was very nice.

Delicious and plentiful

More for locals than tourists, the food was plentiful and delicious- great pastas, delicious seafood fresh as can be and excellent salads make for a great experience. Combine this with a beautiful garden setting and relaxed service and this becomes a real winner

Service was too notch, and the food was unique and delicious. Dessert in particular was surprisingly good.

Lots and lots of restaurants to choose from in Venice but this unassuming restaurant is a true gem…read more It's easy to miss as it's tucked in a corner right by a bridge. Once inside they have a couple tables with small window views of any gondolas passing by. We started off with a plate of lightly fried sardines topped with pickled white onions. The fry on the fish was super light and those vinegar-y onions were the perfect pairing. We cleaned that plate. The lasagna was well balanced with the meat, sauce, cheese. The squid ink pasta was chewy/al dente with a subtle touch of seafood flavors giving the cuttlefish. It was very umami but nothing too overbearing. Delicious! It's a Family business that was been around for many years. Grazie to the friendly staff and chef!

I am so sad to give this restaurant such a poor rating after visiting many times during the last 20…read moreyears and loving it before. The jovial mood with the waiters with big personalities is gone. The menu you can find online is no longer available so you get a very limited menu to choose from--nearly entirely seafood. So if you have anyone in your party that just wants pasta with a red meat sauce or a non seafood lasagne, not available. We were a party of 8. Two people ordered the scallop appetizers. Pretty presentation on shells. 3 tiny scallops in the shells. More like an amuse bouche. Totally disappointing. The linguine with clams as an entree had clams so small you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them. Couldn't taste the clams and annoying to try to eat something so tiny , and just try to eat the pasta with all those tiny shells. The baby shrimp on polenta was actually good. But again the shrimp were like tiny hatchlings tempura battered. Tasted okay except for those that were soggy from the polenta that was very soupy. I wanted the gnocchi with crab which was on the very limited menu but no longer available. The alternative was gnocchi with a sea bass sauce which I chose but didn't like at all. The gnocchi were good but the sauce wasn't at all for me. We had to continue to ask for side dishes for the bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. We will not return. Poor value for your money. Plus there is a cover charge and service included in your bill which was a surprise. Very sad to see our favorite Venetian restaurant decline so much.
