My new favorite place. Vegan ramen??? They have a great blend between fusion and authentic Japanese. The staff is friendly and wonderful and the place is as cute as can be. I took advantage of the Dine MB and got an amazing deal for $30 - arugula and quinoa salad, kombucha, the purple treasure roll with the most delicious eggplant on top and the smallest bite of cheesecake I've ever had. So the cheesecake was a little stingy but I was so stuffed that it worked out well. I really wanted to try the crispy spicy tofu rice but since I'm really sensitive to spice, i abstained. However we tried the spicy ramen and it was almost bearable for me. Delicious and flavorful, I don't think you'll miss the meat. To drink, I had the sparkling sake with homemade ginger ale. We were on our way to LAX and wanted to grab dinner in Manhattan Beach. What a gem! Food is excellent and the service is outstanding! We started with Garlic Toro Kale followed by Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna and Crispy Rice Spicy Salmon. Garlic Toro Kale is amazing! It comes with really wonderful slices of toro sashimi each paired with a slice of fried garlic; the whole dish is then covered with crispy friend kale. The Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna & Salmon are just as delicious and crispy friend brown rice cubes on the bottom of the spicy fish. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This is a place I will definitely go back and visit often. read more

I freaking LOVE this place. The service is phenomenal, and the flavor combos are just plain inspired and delicious. And they have all organic brown rice in their rolls, which I love. My favorite is called the Beach Wave roll I think? It's a salmon roll with truffle oil and a single caper on each buttery, yummy bite. I savor each morsel. I absolutely love this place. I'm gluten and dairy free and haven't eaten sushi in about7 years ( since my Celiac diagnosis) so when I found this place, I almost didn't believe it was real! You guys? It's real. I seriously had a tear in my eye the first time I took a bite of the soft shelled crab( MY FAVORITE) and have eaten almost every non vegan thing on the menu . Why non vegan? Because when you are allergic to gluten AND dairy, you kind of get stuck eating vegan by default *but I love meat!* so it's a real treat to be able to consume REAL FISH! The food is amazing and I have never gotten sick! This is a huge thing as so many places claim to be gf that are not and I'm very very sensitive to gluten and cross contamination so it's always this nail biting experience going out to eat. Will I end up constipated and vomiting with a full body rash or no? Not with these guys! It is now our go too place whenever we want to go out for a fancy dinner! Thank you guys so much for existing. What a little hidden gem!! The service is fantastic and the food is terrific. There are photos for the lunch special options. Try the crispy fried kale and the carpaccio. I had a birthday party here and it was like a private party. The servers could have not been more attentivr and we had a preset menu amd brought out own wine. We tipped double since we brought our own alcohol. Everyone had a great time and was surprised that Rice even existed. The brown rice is soo good! I will never enjoy white rice again. read more

Out-of-this-world freshness and unique flavor. I was not remotely disappointed by a single dish (and we ordered half the menu). A vegan friendly, gluten free sushi joint. I think we've all forgotten what a true vegan really is, but that's another argument for another day. Back to the sushi joint. I've had better. Much better. You get what you pay for I guess. You pay for the location in Manhattan Beach, not on top quality sushi or a top quality sushi chef. I've paid top dollar for quality sushi, and this was not it. The only plus and reason I gave two stars, is that fact that they used brown rice in their cut rolls. I prefer brown rice over white rice. However, it was not brown sticky rice. So, forget trying to pick up the cut rolls with your chop sticks because they will fall apart. Expect to eat with your fingers. And one last thing. Their spicy tuna roll, was, um, not spicy. It tasted like wet fish wrapped in brown rice. You can find a better sushi restaurant. I guarantee it read more

Amazing Japanese and vegan restaurant in Manhattan Beach! The atmosphere is cozy and the staff was friendly. Everything was delicious from the spicy vegan ramen, to the chef's sashimi selection, to the seaweed beach salad. My wife and I shared 4 dishes with drinks for about $60! This place is incredible but a little tough to find! The building is on the corner of 9th St. and Manhattan Beach Blvd. The actual entrance is on 9th St. The vegan sushi rolls were incredibly flavorful. We couldn't help making the 'mmmm' yummy noises after each bite. The sake list is extensive (try the plum sake if you like sweet). The owner was wonderful and gave us a free scoop of strawberry dessert (maybe he liked our praise, haha). read more

The experience started with a hot towel to wipe your hands before eating. We ordered only ramen and sushi this time but will have to go back to try more next time. I search "vegan" on Yelp from time to time to see if anything new pops up and I got lucky tonight! I got the purple treasure roll, soup of the day (pumpkin), and beach salad. All were great and the staff was super friendly when I picked up my food to go. It's a little tough to find, it's on 9th and Manhattan Ave (not MB Blvd as a previous poster stated) and it's on the south side of 9th. It was about $30 which seems fair for the quality (organic, etc.). I'll definitely be back, just wish they were closer to Redondo!! read more

Rice is a tiny restaurant nestled in an offstreet near the beach. It has okay food, nothing really special. I had the spicy tuna crispy rice, which was good, but didn't offer a whole lot of flavor. My friend had the California ramen, which was good, if not a little strange-tasting. This place is fine if you have nowhere else to go. read more

Fast polite service. Ordered the chef special sashimi which was very fresh but very over priced. 6 pieces of thinly cut fish for $18. The fried rice cake with scallop was poorly executed. Ordered sake for four - she brought out champagne glasses, filled the first two half way, and the second two to the rim emptying the bottle. Lame. Worst offense: brought out sizzling scallops, said "watch out, they're hot" and then proceeded to hold them under my chin and splattered hot oil on my chest - ouch!!! Dress damaged, skin damaged. Hands down my favorite restaurant in LA that serves satisfying and imaginative vegan/gluten free fare. I usually come here for dinner, but they also offer a delicious multi-course lunch special.
