Our daughter and son-in-law recommended Rice Thai Bistro to us a while ago and we just now stopped in for lunch. We kind of ended up there by accident. After voting, we decided we deserved lunch and went to Wan Fu, only to find it closed on Tuesdays. I kind of wanted some soup so we decided it was a good time to try Rice Thai. We were not going for a big meal, so each ordered Tom Kha Gai soups and shared an order of Spring Rolls. It was all very good and we definitely need to return for a real meal. We recently returned from a trip to Europe and oddly enough, I had Tom Kha Gai twice on that trip. They were pale imitations of the real thing. We also really enjoyed the spring rolls with homemade sweet chile sauce. This place is a surprise, given its obscure location along Manchester Road. It is clean and attractive inside. The people who operate it do a great job. I do believe the guy who waited on us and certainly did some of the preparation, when he said that they do food like it is done in Thailand. I love Thai curries and Ms T always likes Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe. I can't wait for some Panang Curry or perhaps Green Curry or perhaps Red Curry or perhaps.........I'm going five stars the first time out. It was my first time at Rice Thai Bistro. It's a small bistro but very neat. I noticed they do a lot of takeout. Food and service were fabulous!!! Appetizers: -salt&pepper squid 10/10 -- a little spicy, flavorful but kinda salty to eat by itself. So don't forget to squeeze a little bit of lime on top to balance out the flavor -moo ping 10/10-- it's a Thai style pork skewers. Meat was tender and flavorful. Served with very moist and soft sticky rice and dipping sauce. Entrée: - Panang curry (chicken) 9/10- I expected a thick and rich sauce but panang curry here is a bit soupy. Curry is flavorful with earthy lime flavor from the Kaffir lime leaf - Tom yum noodles soup 10/10 - Rice noodles with simple toppings (fish cake, fish ball, ground pork). The broth was absolutely mouth watering flavorful - Pad Thai (chicken) 9/10- noodles was perfectly cooked and tasty, but chicken was a bit dry. Next time I will get shrimp instead. This is good! I had no idea it was in Manchester off Manchester. I've been driving by many many times. I saw a TikTok on the unique shaped crab Rangoon and decided I need to go. While I didn't get the Crab Rangoon, I did get the L Panang Curry which was VERY good! I've gotten it twice now and will be back again. Highly recommended! read more

I have given the overall experience a 3. If you are looking for a rating on the quality of food and overall taste I would be giving that a 3.8-4.5. Let me just start by saying don't even try to order takeout or pick up during any evening rush. I honestly should've been given my money back for having to sit there for 45 minutes after waiting the allotted time I was first given. I show up at the time I'm told to pick up my order to then sit there and wait almost a whole hour for two appetizers and a dessert. I could've ordered food had it be ready and picked it up and made it home in the time that I sat there waiting for them to finish their clearly burdened to go orders. Either they need to hire another person during this time if you're going to offer delivery service with uber eats or whatever or just turn off mobile ordering as it can not be properly handled. 20+ min or more after allotted time frame is much too long and clearly not sustainable with whatever is in place. I will never order this lovely restaurant ever again during a dinner time frame... which is unfortunate because that's about when I would order them. Love the food here, sad there isn't any khao soi (was by far their best dish still to date and where I first had khao soi) Update: After getting home I will say for the first time ever from eating at this establishment many a times over the years that this food or visit was a disappointment. Completely lack luster and just sad. The 8$ crab ran goon sticks which used to be amazing and plump and worth the 8$ for three, were the saddest skinniest tiniest little sticks completely void of the wonderful yummyness they used to once be and just basic af. I'm truly saddened by how Mediocre the food was this evening on a Saturday evening! What an utter disappointment :( read more

Good atmosphere here, not a lot of tables to eat in but it works. The service here is outstanding, only one server in the whole place but he covered us and the other three tables very well. I had the curry chicken fired rice, the favor was spicy but I like it that way. I was not as impressed with the rice itself it seemed to be missing something from the texture. The other two folks in the party got pad Thai and they said it was very good. We had pot stickers for Ann appetizer and I must admit, they were some of the best I've ever had. I've been looking for a good Thai restaurant near Kirkwood for quite some time and I think we've found it. I'm a big Drunken Noodles fan and have been trying this dish in various Thai places throughout the St Louis area. I really love Pearl Cafe's version but it is so far from the Kirkwood area and King and I's is just decent. Manee Thai's, which is just across Manchester, is quite different than the typical recipe and was just ok. We ordered carry out from Rice Thai Bistro on a weekday night and of course I ordered Drunken Noodles and added steak to it with a spice level of Thai hot. My wife ordered the Pad Thai with tofu and my daughter ordered the same as me, but with just the medium spice level as it comes. When I arrived at Rice Thai Bistro, around the time I was quoted, I was promptly greeted by maybe the owner or manager who spoke good English. It's not a big restaurant but nice and quaint with about 12 tables for dine in service. My order was waiting for me all packed neatly and smelled delicious. As I was leaving I expressed my hopefulness to the gentlemen that this be the nearby Thai restaurant gem I've been seeking and he pointed me to a recent restaurant award that they recently won. This was encouraging. Got back home and unpackaged the food and it was 100% correct which is rare these days. My Drunken Noodles order was a good size portion and so tasty. It had the perfect amount of spice, flavor, texture and sauce. King and I's version is good but always has too much sauce. This had the right combination of every thing. I ate my entire entree and was sad when it was gone. My daughter enjoyed hers too and lucky for me I had her leftovers the next day! My wife ate all of hers and really enjoyed the Pad Thai. Needless to say...I've finally found our new Thai local favorite place and look forward to many more Drunken Noodles orders from Rice Thai Bistro! My husband and I were searching for Asian food along Manchester road and stumbled upon Rice Thai Bistro. Major bonus points for being open until 9pm because there wasn't much else we could find for dinner options at 8pm! The restaurant staff was wonderful, attentive, and answered my questions about the menu. We ordered a chicken pad thai and the tom yum and both were delicious. The pad thai wasn't overly sweet or spicy which I enjoyed, and the presentation was beautiful on the platter it came out in. I also ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup: rice noodles, clear broth with fishcakes, ground pork, bean sprouts, fresh lime juice, dry chili pepper, ground peanuts, grispy garlic. The tom yum broth was extremely flavorful with a major spice/heat in it; great for warming you up on a cold winter day. read more

This place was delicious! How have I just now found this place?! It's a hidden gem in Ballwin right off Manchester. The restaurant is small and the owners are a couple who do all the work themselves. The owner who was our server was very helpful and explained how he recommend to eat their curry. I couldn't decide which dessert to get and he said he would surprise me and it was an excellent choice. The service was top notch! Really the cozy ambiance and feel of the place was great and it was very laid back. Now on to the best part. The food. It was simply amazing. Appetizer was crab Rangoon. They came out as tall sticks which I have never seen before. Delicious! Order these! I got the yellow chicken curry and it was the best curry I have ever had. Our server brought out the chili spice for us to make it as hot as we wanted. I like a decent amount of source but not crazy. My husband likes it's very spicy. We were able to add as much as wanted and it worked to perfection. They make their own spice blend and it was soooo delicious! I've never had the cucumber salad with curry and the addition of the crisp cool flavor with the spicy curry was so good. Husband ordered the Thai Basil with tofu dish and he said it was so very good. The dessert was sticky black rice with coconut cream. Mind blown. Delicious! There are limited menu items but you can tell they put 100% into each dish. Ok at best. I've been wanting to try this place as it looked pretty amazing. So I placed online order. Wanted the p yang curry(may have misspelled). Not available so ordered green curry with chicken. Arrived turns out I could have gotten my first choice but website didn't allow. Green curry was ready so they wouldn't change. Got home first the rice was so congealed and stick. The curry had a very odd flavor like too much floral something. I was really hoping to lime this since best Thai I've had is in Fairview Heights so quite the drive from West County. I have never given a one star review but this is literally the worst service ever. We waited an hour and ten minutes for our appetizers. During that time several people doing online ordering became irate and left. I finally received my meal about ten minutes before my husband and daughter. The food was ok. We twice asked if we could have water. I wouldn't normally blame the waitress if the kitchen was backed up but when I went to find a to go box the two waitresses were hanging out and talking. I was finally able to go to Rice Thai for lunch the other day. The location certainly isn't the best as it's stuck in the corner of a tiny strip mall. They've done the best they could with the space, however a stronger exhaust fan might be a good idea. Some oil burned a bit and it filled the entire space throwing me into a coughing fit. Hopefully they can move to a larger space at some point because the food is simply amazing. For an appetizer we ordered the Rice Thai Bistro Rangoon. A unique take on one of my all time favorite appetizers. Rolled into long spring rolls makes them easier for dipping. I just wish there had been more than 3 rolls! With the lunch menu you get a small side salad and cup of soup. The salad was fresh with a nice light dressing. The soup was a refreshing and light clear broth with some tofu and scallions. For my entree I had the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) with Shrimp. It was so good I wanted to lick the plate. We had a great experience at Rice Thai. It's a one man kitchen, but he does an amazing job. Our waiter was prompt and attentive. I will be back to try more dishes very soon! read more

I have accidentally stumbled over this gem of a Thai restaurant this week and can honestly say I was blown away by how good it was. I was looking for a Thai place close to my new house that would be quick and no wait. I walked it and the place was packed on a rainy cold day. I waited and ordered and from this moment I realized what a great spot this is. Food was amazing and not your average Thai food. Presentation was excellent. Taste was the best I had. To top it all service was wonderful. The owner and his wife run the entire place and take care of every small detail. You will LOVE this place. Rice Thai Bistro really did a great job with the decor and layout given the location and space they were provided. The decor is just right. They didn't get carried away with super fancy decor, making the place looks clean and inviting. The space is a bit small though. I can see how this could be an issue on busier nights like Fridays and Saturdays. For dinner, I ordered the Thai fried rice with beef. The flavors were pretty good but nothing spectacular. I ate half of it for dinner and had the rest for lunch the next day. Honestly, it tasted better the next day for some reason, maybe the flavors had time to meld together. I also tried the Thai iced tea that my wife ordered, pretty standard and really sweet (which is typical). Too sweet for my liking. My wife has a sweet tooth and even watered it down a little. The only small complaint I have is that there is a bit of smoke that entered the eating area from the kitchen. I think this is due to the cutout allowing you to see into the kitchen. Maybe a pane of glass could be placed in the opening to prevent smoke from migrating to the eating areas. read more

I don't know why, but I've found that the best Thai food is in the Midwest. You would think that the west coast would because we are closer to the ocean and because of the diversity, but I was wrong. This restaurant is legit and absolutely delicious. I found this place on Yelp. Went here twice during a trip to STL. For an appetizer, we got the salt and pepper calamari I believe. I don't see it on the menu pictures, but it was great. Texture was nice and crispy without too much batter. Light and appeasing. The hot and sour soup is on point. Very delicious and full of flavor. I thought the pad see ew was perfectly al dente. The yellow curry was your standard yellow curry, but that little side of cucumber salad made the difference. I loved it. This is a small mom and pop restaurant and I only see one server working at a time so service might be a little slow at times, but the food is great. I've eaten here a dozen times and never had a bad meal. The crab Rangoon is a refreshing take on an old favorite, the pineapple fried rice could use a few more cashews but is otherwise excellent.
