    How we do.
    Jason D.

This is my go to place for a run. I haven't gotten into the memorial loop yet. Rice is more convenient. It's a great 5k gravel loop that circles Rice University. The downside is that there are only two water fountains on the course. I would like one on each of the four legs of the route. I don't drink much when I run, but in this heat, it's necessary for many. The Brian O'Neil's Running Club also runs out here every Tuesday evening. It's a good community event. This is an excellent track, with a decent amount of flow. Never too crowded. And close to the bars :)

The path surrounding the hedges that envelope Rice University is a great place to have a measured run. It is right at 3 miles, it's flat, and fellow path users are polite and (for the most part) follow the rules of the road. You get a peek inside the beautiful Rice campus, see the grandeur of the homes across Rice Street and Sunset Boulevard, have the grassy vista towards Hermann Park, and get a bit of a flavor of how busy the medical district is. It's not something you'll find in the central part of many large metropolitan areas.

    10 miles easy..

I haven't ever parked on Rice property, I usually park at Hermann Park and cross the street at Sunset to get on the trail.

Membership is on a monthly basis, and it covers UNLIMITED group fitness classes + open gym. The group classes range in size. Sometimes you're working out with 2-3 people, other times it's 20. But you always get personal attention from the onsite trainer who is there to correct your form or provide modifications. They also provide ice baths (I believe $15 each) and access to their sauna. They do a lot of community and social events, like happy hours, pickleball, beach days. Mike, Nancy, and Brian are great at what they do.

Even though I don't train specifically with the owners, they have always been exceptionally kind and welcoming. It's clear they are always watching everyone in the gym, in the best and most well intentioned ways. Mike is great and has offered good tips and suggestions for better form, etc. everyone who I've met here has been very kind. The gym is dog friendly and while I don't have a dog of my own to bring, it's always nice to see "the regulars" there. The dogs are friendly too and don't get in the way of those working out. There seems to be a few options for group/individual trainers. There is also preset workout for members to do if group training isn't your thing. I can't wait to try out some of their fun events and community events that they put on.

My 8-year-old daughter and I went in. the waiting room alone was definitely something to see. even though the tickets were slightly expensive at the time they have gone down since then by half. we started to walk through the exhibit I was floored. the amount of time effort and energy and creativity the people that put this together did in this space is far from just saying its amazing! ITS FREAKING PHENOMENAL! Each exhibit is well thought out and they are all awesome photo ops. We had a blast! A year later I took my 17-year-old son. The price went down but also some of the exhibits were gone. I was informed that they were building something else in place of, but was disappointed because a couple of my favorite exhibits were now missing. the rain room was awesome, but it's gone now. I think they should bring it back because walking through a rainstorm and not getting a single drop of rain on you is mind blowing. The fact that I can bring both of my children with huge age gaps and interests and both of them found this place to be interesting, fun and unforgettable is really all that has to be said.

It took my friends and I approx. 45 mins., at most to walk through the entire place. And that's with us thoroughly exploring every nook and cranny. Kids will definitely have a blast here and will most likely spend more time playing with all the sensory effects but for my friends and I, we will most likely not visit again. Note: Adult admission fee is $34.99 + tax and child admission fee is $24.99 + tax.
