Rice Violet was my first experience ordering delivery from Yelp. I was craving Thai food but needed to get work done at my hotel so I ordered the Rainbow Paradise Combo and Tom Kha Soup. A little over an hour later I was diving into the food on the bed (perk of staying in a hotel!) The delivery probably took so long because they use a third party for those Yelp orders, but I'm not sure. The food was flavorful. The rainbow paradise was packed with so many veggies! They were cooked al dente with the right amount of sauce. It was a bit too oily for me, which negated the fact that I was eating healthy veggies. The kale was fresh, but not cut so I was trying to cram huge kale leaves in my mouth. Ain't nobody got time to cut kale. Tom Kha soup is my all time favorite soup and this was deliciously spot on! A little extra spice to creamy coconut ratio than I'm used to but it was a welcomed change. Prices are reasonable. Delivery is slow. Food is as expected for an average Thai joint. Second time at Rice Violet, and I am impressed at their quality of food! There are many thai restaurants in Worcester to choose from and I can say this one is up there for one of the best. They have a nice location in downtown Worcester but the problem is parking, you gotta pay and may have to find a spot further away. I believe they are the same owners or have affiliation with Thai Time on Highland. The interior isn't anything special, but is very spacious with two sections of the restaurant. I have never sat in any of the booths on the right, only at the darker section which is the left side. It's nice for private conversation. Service has been normal, nothing outstanding to say about service. The food though, is delicious. They capture the right flavors and textures on many Thai dishes and one thing that sets them apart is their presentation. No where else in this area serves purple rice and it was clever of them to base their brand off that. Anyways, I have had Papaya Salad, A stir fry basil dish (I believe Pad Gra Pow) in the past and really enjoyed them both. This time, I had their Crazy Noodle, and Pad Thai and I was very impressed! As soon as you get a taste for both, the flavors immediately stimulate your tastebuds.. the spicy savory-ness from the Crazy Noodles and the sweet, salty, sour balance from the Pad Thai. The flavors intense and this is very impressive. Texture of noodles were perfect as well, chewy but not hard and not soft or broken. One area that needs improvement is their summer rolls. They were loosely packed and feel apart easily so what was supposed to be a finger food, ended up needing a fork. But props to them for putting care into their other food. I've dined here a bunch of times and the food is great. The last time I went I waited 45 mins for my food before asking to have it boxed up to go. With 5 mins before I had to be back to work I asked to cancel the order because I had to leave and get back to work and there was no apology and the explanation they gave me was unreal. Also watched two other tables come in after me and order and eat. And to the owner, if you see a guest with an empty drink, maybe offer a refill. They do it right, you can pick your favorite type of noodle or fried rice dish and select your protein (tofu, chicken, etc) They have an entire veggie appetizer menu. We had the chive and onion dumplings which were amazing. (Low point of the meal was the steamed veggie dumplings). We each got very different selections for the main entre and we all loved them. The mango fried rice had a beautiful depth of flavor. The khow soi was a beautiful light complex yellow curry. Unlike any I have had in the US. The service was fantastic. Food: I got delivery. I feel bad writing a negative review when so many people have written great ones for this place but I just ate the absolute worst chicken pad Thai of my life. I ordered a few apps to go along with the pad Thai and the apps were great but I almost spit out the first bite I took of my pad Thai right onto my laptop. There was no sauce and the noodles had dried into clumps that tasted vaguely like burnt rubber. Definitely the best joint for Thai food in town. However, this is difficult to discern upon entering the restaurant. The interior is HUGE, but there is not a patron in sight. I imagine most of their business is from take-out, but the square footage is just insane. The spice and flavor is real at Rice Violet. Don't order Thai spicy if you have any hesitation. They will literally have you leaking fluids from every orifice. However, this is what a true lover of Thai food hopes for and expects. The pad se ew is especially delicious at Rice Violet. The flavor is packing, wok flavor is present, vegetables are many, and the protein is decent. I alternate from getting seafood or chicken and shrimp. The portions are not all that large. If I'm ravenous, I can eat the entire portion in one sitting and I am a 5'3" 115 pound asian female. The thai fried rice is also another favorite. Very flavorful and the portion is generous. We have continually returned to this restaurant for our Thai food fix. Order in advance. Typically takes 15-20 minutes, however can take up to 30 minutes if you are unlucky and have a huge party order in front of you because you ordered late (aka me). We ordered pork dumpling to start, which were delicious. The menu is expansive but well-thought out. I am not Thai, but everything seemed authentic and the staff appeared to be Thai! My partner had the "Rainbow Paradise" combination, which included chicken, scallions, onions, red pepper, kale, mushrooms and broccoli in light soy sauce. I had the Tom Kha soup, which was a coconut base (not heavy) with scallions, mushrooms, lime juice, and something called galangal root (yes, I am reading from the online menu because I could not remember the details!). We ordered a Thai iced tea to go, chicken pad Thai made spicy, the beef dish with vegetables and peanut sauce, coconut rice and the crispy spring rolls. Although we didn't stay in the restaurant for long during the pick up, it was quiet large and open with plenty of seating. I loved that their Thai tea was packaged in a little bag with a handle for easy transport! The beef dish with peanut sauce was delicious! I also loved substituting the white rice for coconut rice, it was worth the extra $2. The spicy chicken pad Thai was also good, but I wasn't a big fan of the very thin noodles that came with them. I'm always excited to find new places to go with my vegan boyfriend. This place had a sign up months ago but didn't open until recently. We went in for lunch on a Tuesday. We drove around for a little while to find street parking. We were greeted and seated immediately. The menu is pretty big. There is an appetizer menu dedicated to meatless items (though I noticed chicken in one description, so keep an eye out) in addition to pretty standard Thai fare. As is the case with most Thai places I've been to, the lunch prices (and presumably portions) are less than dinner prices. We shared an appetizer of vegetable dumplings, which were good but the portion was small for the price ($5.95). We had the yellow curry and the pad Thai. The curry was creamy and the perfect amount of spicy. The pad Thai was good, too, but would have benefited from a little lime juice. The portion sizes were good. We both had leftovers. Amazing food and phenomenal service! My friend and I recently visited Worcester for a show at the Palladium. The town seemed pretty quiet for a Thursday night but we persisted to find a bite before the doors opened. After some local yelp search and wandering into the sketchiest pizza place I've ever seen, (imagine an abandoned Sbarro's cafeteria with 3 day old slices glistening under a hot bar). Yeah, none of that. Sadly, this was the only place that seemed open at such hours and when we politely requested some fresh cheese slices, the lady explained what you see is what you get. Thank goodness after walking up a block or two we stumbled upon Rice Violet. It was empty inside but they meant business. We were quickly seated and offered drinks while we looked over the menu. I ordered vegetable crazy noodles, chive dumplings, and corn cakes but received a call that they were out of the corn cakes and she offered to sub coconut shrimp instead. When the food arrived, everything tasted super fresh but the dumplings were way over cooked (most likely because they steamed too long in the container due to the long delivery time). The coconut shrimp were good sized, crispy, fresh, with a lot of coconut. The portions are SO big - I could have shared this with a family of 5. There was more than enough left overs. Beautiful anterior, nice ascetics and kind staff members. The FOOD is amazing, very flavorful. I honestly order fried mango rice almost every week. The vegetables are flavorful and crisp along with the meat and rice. Everything is FRESH and that's rare these days with how quickly food can be prepared. No alcoholic beverages, I honestly do not mind because you'll have a great meal fill satisfied and not greasy afterwards and you can either drive or walk to a bar nearby. 10/10.
