I first ever tried Thai as a kid when the Thai Place in Sturbridge opened and became hooked. It remains to this day one of my favorite cuisines. My family and I switched to this restaurant in East Brookfield as it was closer. The food is outstanding and is also great and approachable if someone is trying the cuisine for the first time. Food is basic and represents most of the simple Thai dishes. If a nursing home had Thai food night, this would be it. Forget about any special requests. Talking to the waitress was like talking to the wall. Didn't listen or write down our order, got most of it wrong . Had to ask four times for plastic utensils and napkins for our to go orders, Much less our requested spice level. We ate in and ordered stuff to go. Food was extremely bland but basic enough to eat. I would pay to see the kitchen if they actually even cook in a wok. Get some staff with experience. Music was what the waitress liked , not normal Thai music one might expect. My friend and I discovered this restaurant en route to Quabbin Reservoir and were really happy with our meals. We arrived late for lunch (2:00) but were met with pleasure and received excellent service. Our dishes were fresh and really tasty, and the place felt unassuming and comfortable (like we were visiting the home of someone who loves to cook). If I had the ability to completely delete my earlier review I would. The owner was clearly not pleased with my review and perhaps I was judgemental.I will add that the owners response was completely accurate. They did offer to replace my dish. The fact of the matter is the day I visited I was distraught, was on a tight schedule and very hungry, so I ate the Laab, even though it was prepared differently than I have ever eaten it. Thai is a favorite cuisine and I have eaten a lot of Laab salad over the past 25 years, a lot. The fact is that different chefs prepare meals differently. Please support this restaurant, it is definitely work a visit. I would certainly return for another meal myself. One of my favorite restaurants I've ever been it shocks me to say that because it's just a tiny place in EB but I live an hour away now and still think about this place and always try to get it when I'm in the area. They are not accommodating for allergies. I have two severe allergies that we told the servers before ordering. One server said she would help clarify if my dish would be safe for me, but when we asked to make sure it was safe she told us we can't keep asking and brushed us off and told us to order off the gluten free menu. Service was exceptionally fast here, throughout the meal they checked up on us to see if we needed anything, extra napkins, more drinks e.t.c. I really liked that because we did, we did need those extra napkins, we ate spicy wings, and they were all over my hands and my bf's beard. Ordered "pad see you" as it appears on their menu, the special of the thai style spicy chicken wings, a Chang beer, and deep fried vanilla bean ice cream. Their menu is rather large with a lot of options. There is even a "GLUTEN FREE" section for those that have special dietary restrictions or just may want to try something different. They brought out the chili for the table so we could make everything as spicy as we wanted. Which was excellent, having the option to add more heat is always great. The texture of the noodles was just right, the veggies were crisp and everything was fried really will together. Thai style wings were great, they had a bit of spice and a really great glaze. I wish the marinade went all the way through to the meat though. But they were really good. Especially edith the Chang beer. Deep fried ice cream was cakey crispy outside drizzled with chocolate sauce but just enough for a taste. It was vanilla ice cream and after all the food it cleansed the palette and just tired it together. The staff was really friendly here, not too talkative to interrupt a meal but helpful. read more

I'm giving 1 star because the food at least smelled good. we didn't get to eat. We sat at the bar and could not seem to get the bartender to acknowledge we were even there. Maybe she was having a bad day but if that's the case you should leave that at home. My wife even tried to make a small joke to lighten the mood. I seemed to cause the waitress to cop more attitude. We could have been regulars to this place . But as we sat there the regulars were rude to the hard working staff. we just had to leave. Why spend money on a lousy experience. read more

I have lived in NYC, Dallas, LA, and Boston... traveled a lot as well. Who would have thought that the best Thai food I've ever had would be in East Brookfield, Mass? My husband and I are fairly new to the area, went here for the first time today....will be our local "go to" restaurant for sure. We had a curry dish, spicy noodles, and some apps. My star rating reflects, for the most part, the service we received rather than the food we had during our most recent visit to Thai House. The restaurant was empty except for a couple of elderly women who were finishing up when we arrived, and we were promptly seated after the hostess set our table. We immediately ordered drinks when our server appeared in short order. Our young server had very little knowledge of the menu and Thai food in general, and couldn't make any real suggestions for us when we asked about popular house dishes. We asked about the day's special appetizer, fried oysters, and were told that they were coated in a light, tempura-like batter and came with a sauce. Fine, we ordered that. The Mai Tai my companion had was very good and came in an attractive glass. My Thai iced coffee was very good as well, dark and rich, with not too much sweetened condensed milk to make it cloyingly sweet. While we sipped our beverages and perused the menu's entrée options, we enjoyed the fried oysters. They were plump and juicy, nicely BREADED and deep fried (definitely not in a light, tempura-like batter), and accompanied by a mild remoulade sauce, which was not at all spicy. We asked for and got the spicy condiment caddy to perk up the dish---mission accomplished. As for our entrees, my companion chose a gluten-free spicy pork and pepper dish, and I chose the Thai yellow curry with beef. We each made our selections based on their menu descriptions, as our server would be of no assistance. While our entrees were very tasty, with heat levels to our exact liking, the pork dish my companion ordered contained a goodly amount of green beans, which she detests (not mentioned in the description; she ate around them). My curry dish was supposed to include pineapple chunks, but I didn't find any (I like pineapple in my curries to somewhat combat the heat of the dish). It seems my companion, while having a taste of my plate, was the lucky one to receive the "prize," one lonely chunk. Despite this omission, I enjoyed it very much. We shared a small side of sticky rice to go with our dishes. This was served in a most awkward way---a very small portion of rice was tightly wrapped in plastic inside a small woven steamer basket, and was difficult to open and serve. I am aware that the basket is a traditional way to serve this rice, but the plastic? I would lose that and opt for parchment if you must line the basket. What also left us scratching our heads was that while we perused the limited dessert menu (4 items only) our server arrived with our check, not asking us if we wanted dessert. We felt she was rushing us out, but there was no need. There were no other patrons in the place, only the same two little old ladies still trying to get their check (huh?). Anticipating its cooling effects on our palates after our deliciously fiery entrees, we asked her for a slice of Lemonade Cake and to adjust our check accordingly. Unfortunately, we never got it. We waited and waited and waited...after about 15 minutes, I strolled up to the bar where our server was still computing our check, and inquired as to the status of our dessert. She informed me that it would be "right out." I returned to our table, and we waited another 5 minutes or so and still nothing. We both got up and headed to the bar (she was still computing both our check and the little old ladies'). We had waited long enough. Just what was the problem? Why were we waiting so damn long for a simple slice of cake? I could only surmise that the cake was frozen and they were waiting until it thawed a bit before bringing it out. We paid our bill and left without the cake. I don't know if our server was new and had very little experience with Thai cuisine, but it would have behooved all parties if she had a more seasoned wait person to assist her, as this seemed to be warranted. I hope the management will read this review, take heed, and make the necessary adjustments. I really like this restaurant and will give them another shot in the future. read more
