Rice's Rapid Motorsports (Rapid City, SD) - 1/5 Stars I've had nothing but the worst service at Rice's Rapid Motorsports in Rapid City. For starters, I bought my 2026 Suzuki GSX-8R there, and I've had nothing but issues with it. My speedometer is 9 mph off, which is outside of Suzuki's guidelines, yet the mechanics at Rapid claimed it's only 3 mph off when they checked it with a GPS. I've had law enforcement verify my speed, and it's 100% 9 mph off. They told me it's within Suzuki's guidelines and there's nothing they can do. Later, I noticed an exhaust leak sound. Upon inspecting my exhaust, I found a factory defect with the muffler where an extra bung hole wasn't welded properly. The mechanics at the Rapid City store told me it's normal because it's a "drain hole" on top of the muffler. This is a direct quote from their service shop. FYI, there is no drain hole, and if there was, it definitely wouldn't be on a welded bung hole on top of the muffler. That was strike two. A couple of weeks later, I noticed paint chipping off my rear disc, which isn't normal. I stopped back at the Rapid City store, and a mechanic came outside to look at my bike, only to tell me it's brake dust and not paint chipping. After doing my own research and talking to two other shops, it's clear this is a defect on the bike. I'm absolutely disgusted with how the Rapid City Rice's Motorsports location is run. The mechanics don't seem to have a clue what they're doing and are giving out bad info that could be a liability. My money will no longer be spent there. For the Rapid City location: You need serious work. Not only is your customer service absolute trash, but you have untrained, un-knowledgeable people working on customers' equipment. That's a huge liability, and it's only a matter of time until a lawsuit comes your way. Your sales reps suck and have no knowledge of the products; I've had salesmen leave in the middle of a deal to go work with someone who just walked in the door. It's all about money in Rapid. I have nothing good to say about this location except if you want to go somewhere where they really don't care or know much of anything, check out Rice's Rapid Motorsports. read more

Deceptive business practices - Promoting a 2026 Kayo Storm 70 for Sale - Spoke with Mark the salesman, said he had a 2026 ready for pick up, did the paperwork, load the machine, get home and it is a 2025. Called and spoke with Cody the sales manager (maybe Corey) Said there is nothing they can do despite there being a $400 value difference between the 2025 and 2026 and basically sorry about your luck. Absolutely sad way to treat customers - We will go elsewhere for out next machines. read more

Worst customer service we have ever experience. take our side by side in to get the first service done in the morning and they just left without finishing it. They just left right in the middle of it. Now we have to take the trailer home and come back with the trailer. We live over 1 an hour away. Horrible. Horrible Customer Service. Brought UTV in for Service 8/5/24. As of 9/13/24 told by Service department, still not even in for diagnosis. Lots of stories and excuses. Multiple requests for Service Mgr, Jessie to call, advised "if he finds the time, he'll call". Had to call the owner, Wade, to find out that our parts have been sitting in the office for weeks with no phone call! He got the boat in a week later. Their service is extremely poor. We bought this pontoon because it was a good deal. But the service department is horrible. This is a true Mickey Mouse operation. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this business. I brought a Can Am commander in for work to be done. Fantastic machine and descent salespeople BUT a terrible service department. My machine has been in now 3 times for the same thing and they still can't get it right. The first time was for 2 weeks, the next was for 2 1/2 weeks and now they have had it for almost 3 weeks only to tell me that it will be an additional 4 -6 weeks. Here is the kicker of the whole thing, My warranty will run out before that. So, in the last year, they have had my machine in their possession for 2 1/2 - 3 months of the FIRST year of ownership of this machine!!!!! Thanks Rice Honda...........NOT. My suggestion for anyone want to purchase anything Rice Honda services, DON"T. Run away as fast as you can and settle for something else that can be serviced anywhere else but here. I didn't go back this yr on trip to Sturgis, but I do appreciate Garret the owner's response to my prior experience feedback. I worked a few years in the motorcycle industry and have a very good idea how fickle the customer base can be, it is definitely important to have decent staff in place as well as competitive deals in a world of internet comparisons. I'll add a star from one to two, because he publicly acknowledged the need to improve. We'll see what next year's visit looks like, come next fall. read more

I bought my bike with only 7k miles on it and I take it out for a ride and noticed oil everywhere. I thought it was just the transmission until there was no oil loss so I started digging. The rear suspension pre-load is leaking significantly. I brought it in to them, they had it for a week and never touched it. I got ahold of the gm and told him what was going on and he called me a liar and that there was no way it was leaking when they had it. Well it doesn't leak while it's sitting it leaks when you ride it. Also there os a bike in their front entrance that they are trying to sell that has no mirrors. This tells me that they do next to nothing for a safty check on their used inventory. The arrogance that he portrayed along with the disrespect made me choose to cancel my service warranty and no longer do business with them. If you read this in my opinion do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, even their sales staff say their management are crooks. Beware!! read more

Mark and Clayton were good to work with. Easy process and fast. Incredible store with tons of selections. Not happy with my trade in price. I do understand its a business and making money is top priority, but I traveled a long ways with a bike in top notch condition that they told me they wouldn't go higher on and gave me every excuse in the book. Find out next day they put over double on it. Come to realize these guys need trades. They make way more on trades than new. I accepted the trade because I wanted the bike and they knew it. Bought my 2020 KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle here. Treated well by a very professional staff.

I dropped off my KTM Duke for engine noise service advisor said they would have to tear into the motor to diagnose the issue To which I said sounds good get it done. Two weeks later they just changed the oil that had only had 2 months and 800 miles on and said it seems fine now and did no further trouble shooting but recommended engine tear down which was supposed to get done in the first place. Worst part is they could not give an explanation as to why they didn't tear into the motor and only changed the oil. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

I called them and ordered a replacement switch cube for a Street Triple RS. They said they didn't have it in stock, but could get it in within a week. A week later, I called and got no answer. I ended up making 4 phone calls to them over the next two hours and never got a response, so I drove there to get an update. The parts guy said the part was on backorder and that they couldn't even get an estimate for when it would be available. He had nothing to say when I pointed out that I should have been called and informed that my order couldn't be completed. My order was never shipped, they knew they couldn't get one, but still wasted a week of my time waiting for a part that they can't get. They didn't even have the decency to pick up the phone and inform me that they couldn't complete the order. Had they called and tried to work something out, I might consider using them in the future. Because they didn't, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I'm not really sure why the service department's has this type of problem. I called last week and talked to a gal in the service department. I told her I needed an estimate for body repair on my Slingshot. I was informed to bring it in and they'll take a look. While there an unknown to me man came up, copped an attitude. He then told me to drop it off and they'd get to it when they get to it. The individual who told me to bring it up didn't even take responsibility for what they told me on the phone. I call today 02/06/2020 and told by the receptionist that they are not taking appointments. I believe a More professional way to handle this is to tell the customer that they'd make the appointment however it will be however long to get it in. This kind of treatment from sale's and service is the reason I bought my first Slingshot in 2016 in Cheyenne because my trade was lowballed 3000$ From NADA value from this area. It's this reason I bought my second 2018 Sling from Vern Eide in Sioux Falls. read more

Was a good experience dealing over the phone for a new skidoo. When I came to pick it up, there was some misunderstanding of some of the extras, but it was mostly worked out. Actual pickup of the sled was very chaotic. Was walking back and forth from department to department and waiting for this person or that to get to the next step. Everything was determined and a time was set, so I was hoping for less confusion. Could be a growing pain thing. Overall, it was fine. I'm sure I'll be back. Just could have been better. read more

I'm in SD on a motorcycle trip, 1000+ miles from home when a fork seal blew out on my 2001 Goldwing. Rolled into the service department right when they opened and virtually begged for help as I am far away from home and proper tools. JT from the service department was fantastic. First: No prices marked on bikes. To me that is the first red flag. Second: I made an offer on a bike with trade. I told them exactly what my bottom dollar was, and to call me if they agreed. Salesman called: I reiterated my bottom line, and said, "Please, don't waste my time. If you agree to my offer, I shall come right in." I returned to Rice Honda, and suddenly the price had jumped $325. At this point I told the salesman that I did not appreciate Rice Honda wasting my time, and that I did not appreciate the difference in price after he said he understood my position and looked forward to making the deal. After I left, I received a phone message saying that the "manager" was willing to split the difference with me. REALLY? What part of "THIS IS MY BOTTOM LINE" don't they understand. At this point to make this deal, my offer is reduced by an additional $200. They need the trades, I do not "need" the trade. I guess they feel that since this is bike week, they can run roughshod over potential customers. Shame on anyone who let's them run this type of operation. Useless! As a lady Spyder riderwho needed some assistance while on road trip, they wouldn't even look at my bike they make made me wait for a day before they would even take it in. Brought it in next day first thing no luck. Was told they had 173 customers ahead of me. Really!?!!! Went round to get parts to buy relays and fuses, could not find part numbers!!! No fuses in stock and tried to sell me a repackaged relay. In retrospect, glad I they did not touch my Spyder after I read others reviews!! Very disappointing and unfriendly bunch... No customer service skills!! read more

You couldn't pay me to take my CanAm Spyder back to them for service. I brought it in to have a rear tire on it, should have been an in and out thing, but when I went to pick it up after hours (I should mention I live three hours away), it was making a horrible sound. Rather than risk driving home on it, I left it and left a voicemail telling them why I had left it. They called me that Monday and told me the belt needed to be adjusted on it but it was fixed. When we came back through the following Friday to pick it up, I started it it up and was going to ride it around the lot and it was STILL making the noise. I went in and grabbed a service person to come listen to it....he said "yeah, somethings not right", so I left it AGAIN, and told him I would be back through on Sunday to pick it up. They called me Saturday morning and told me they had it fixed and that it was the brake pads (Really?) and they cleaned them good and it sounded good. I told them it wasn't making any sounds when I dropped it off, so I didn't understand how that could be it, but they are the experts right? I went to pick it up on Sunday and it was pouring rain and thundering...I couldn't hear anything but the sound of the rain, and assumed it was fixed, and rode home three hours and parked it. It was a rainy and cold week so the bike hadn't been moved until the following Friday....it is STILL making the loud noise!!! When I called them they tried again to tell me it was the brake pads and told me I could bring it back and they would fix it.....again, I live 300 miles away and if they didn't fix it the first two times, I am certainly not driving back to have them not fix it again....I will take it elsewhere and pay someone who knows what they are doing. read more

Sales department is fantastic. But 8 weeks for a repair on a four month old vehicle is just not good enough. I explained that it was a work vehicle and I did not have eight weeks to wait .......crickets....if you are 8 weeks out on a repair then maybe you need more staff. Now I have to find another way to get my machine repaired. Guys - your customers should be your customers for the life of the machine, not until the sale is concluded. I feel bad for the sales staff but I'm on my way to buy my second ATV elsewhere. read more

The service department is terrible. I bought a scooter there once and they said they would put a new back tire on and change the oil. I picked it up and rode it for about 30 minutes and decided to check the oil for myself and the oil wasn't even on the dipstick. They drained it, but didn't put any oil in it. I also went there with an insurance claim to get a motorcycle fixed and they acted like I was bothering them. Even sales and the parts department are like this. It's just painful. I'm done with them. I'd rather haul my bike an hour or two to get it worked on. read more

Get your service done somewhere else! I just took a rim off of a scooter to them to swap the tube and tire with a tube and tire I purchased at Rice Honda. It took over 90 minutes to get the tire swapped. AND they charged me almost $30 to do it. The service tech said it is a .4 hour labor job. Um, maybe .4 hours to remove the rim from the scooter, swap the tire, then put the rim and tire back on the scooter....but I did all the leg work and presented them with the rim, tube and tire...no removal from the scooter or reassambly of the scooter required on their part. Then when we got home we noticed the tire was on backwards and the angled valve stem pointed in over the brake drum... DUH! We returned to Rice @ 4:38. I approached the same tech, and showed him that the tire and tube were mounted incorrectly. He attempted to blame me because "you said..." I repeated what I said to him and he didn't argue, apparently remembered and agreed. I then said "hopefully it wont take you an hour and a half this time ( the service department closes at 5 pm) He responded "you can wait until Tuesday" (Monday is a holiday) I told him I would be there until they corrected their error. He and another tech went in the shop and closed the door....leaving me to wonder if they were going to do it or just leave me hanging.. Amazingly, the .4 hour job only took 10 minutes the second time. Unfortunately one star is the lowest I can rank Rice Honda on here....Negative stars is more appropriate. read more
