I locked my keys in my car at the Speedway gas station on Friday, February 28. My phone was in the car; everything was in the car. One of the women at the station said I should get someone to call Rice's for me. I didn't know what else to do. I recently moved to Montreat from Charlotte and didn't have any family or friends nearby to call. Nor did I have much money. And I told the man that when the call was put through to Rice's. They arrived within 20 minutes of my call. I wish now that I could remember the name of the nice man who helped me that cold Friday afternoon. When I asked him whether he wanted cash or a debit card, all he said to me was, "Have a blessed day!" He didn't know it, but I had been on my way back from seeing a surgeon that day and I was in a great deal of pain. You never know when or where kindness will come from. If I could give this place no stars I would. They overcharged me for the tow and then said they would get back to me within a day or two with an estimate on my car. I had to call them A WEEK later for the estimate they promised and the man was extremely rude to me on the phone and refused to give me a written estimate. The man HUNG UP on me TWICE and when brought to their attention in person no one would take credit for it. The only reason my car was there for so long was because they did not get back to me with an estimate as promised so I ended up having to pay these ****** over five hundred dollars when I never wanted them to have my car in the first place. read more

I had a flat tire in a very busy, tight intersection on 240 on Sat evening. I called 8 towing services and none of them would come help me...then I called Rice's Towing. Tim (I'm pretty sure was his name) was so kind on the phone and said he could come right away and he was there in 10 minutes. It was too dangerous to try to change the tire on the freeway so he towed me to a tire repair place close to my house. He was so helpful and professional and made sure I was safe. These guys are great. I am from Georgia and have a big one ton truck that the brakes went out. They towed it, fixed it, and had me back on the road way faster than I was expecting. Super customer service. Honest and hardworking people that go beyond for their customers- and all this while Asheville still recovering from Helene. They were super fast to show up! Time moves slow when you are stuck on the side of the road and I was still extremely impressed! Tim was a professional angel! My truck is on the larger side (maybe he needs more exercise lol), but Tim has him on the truck within minutes with no issues! Promised me that they would e-mail me the written estimate ASAP. Had to call and request promised estimate and the man just kept saying "I know cars and that one is going to take a lot of work" while never giving me a figure or a written estimate. Cheated me out of money for "storage" because I was trying to get my car fixed but since they would not give me the estimate I had to leave it on their lot of over a week. read more
