With less than a week to leave for home, our insurance company and a (unnamed) national body shop was less than worthless. So we looked around for a local body shop, and found Cran Auto Body. Mark came through quickly with a very reasonable estimate, was incredibly reassuring and explained the whole process to me. Even pointed out things he could reuse and did not need to buy. Super honest guy! The insurance company actually agreed with his full estimate! He got us on the road with a new bumper and hitch in no time, and we got home safe and sound. Very high quality work, factory OEM parts and everything. I hope to never have to use him again, but if any of you need that level of work, Crain's is the way to go. Also, a PSA. Always buy local, never go to the Walmarts of the world if you need quality work. Unless you need a whole lot of toilet paper in a hurry. In that case, go to Walmart. Though if you are in that kind of situation you perhaps need to rethink your life choices. Otherwise, buy local, spend local. You won't regret it.

Had my car for 20 days and couldn't even put it together properly…read more Failed to reinstall bolts securing the front bumper cover to the front fenders, failed to install the fender liners properly (hanging down from the fenders), left sanding marks in the base coat so it looks like it was painted with a paint brush, failed to have the alignment done after being hit at the right front fender and wheel, and has yet to call me with a replacement right headlight after installing one that leaks (first attempt was to plastic weld the headlight brackets and it was completely crooked). If you value your car at all, take it elsewhere. I thought going to a local shop would be my best bet. Boy was I wrong. Nothing but cutting corners and excuses from them. They do not stand behind their work and does not honor their warranties.

She was good about communicating during the repair process. She called me every so often, and texted me pictures of my car as time progressed. The owner was also very nice. When I went to pick my car up he walked out to it with me, pointed out all that had been done and things I should look out for in the future. This is comforting since it suggests that he personally checks the work of his mechanics. Quality of repair- As far as looks, I can't tell there was ever an accident in the first place. On a practical level, everything works as it did before. Speed- My car was hit on the side by an ambulance (it wasn't on the way to or from a call, it was just driving without the lights or siren on) and honestly looked pretty terrible. The way the body was damaged made the car undrivable. They had my car fixed in a week and a half, which I think is pretty amazing. Price- This is hard to guage since insurance covered everything. That being said, the price seemed reasonable to me. I'd go to Biltmore Body again.

After my car was totaled and the other driver's insurance did the bare minimum, I was stuck. AAA Asheville recommended Rickman's, and I'm so thankful they did. The damage to my car was almost as much as I paid for it, and insurance barely lifted a finger. But Jessica and Daniel worked incredibly hard to get the cost way down--at their own expense and time spent--just to help me get back on the road. When I couldn't pay right away, they didn't pressure me. In fact, they offered to cover a large part of the cost themselves! I did pay them, but that offer alone showed me the kind of people they are. This is the most generous, honest, and compassionate business I've ever dealt with. Dolphin has done some extensive work on my older car over the years, some that was quite expensive…read moreand I've wondered about the quality of their work as the results seem less than spectacular. I don't know much about cars in general and tend to accept what a mechanic tels me. That said, I had some necessary work done by a mechanic at Dolphin automotive the week after hurricane Helene came through. All the other local auto mechanic shops were destroyed or out of service due to lack of electric and water service. I was charged $95 for diagnosis (? I already knew what was wrong with the car) plus $95 for a switch (??) and $95 for labor. My car ran just fine when I drove it into Dolphin's station that day. After the work was done, which by the way, did not involve the engine, the car started missing badly as soon as I drove out. Back at the mechanic, told me a part had been broken and I needed to replace the entire assembly. Denied having broken the part, which I find hard to believe. Why would my car run fine before they worked on it, to not run afterwards? As I stated before, Dolphin mechanics have worked on my car several times and have done an ok job, nothing outstanding. I now suspect they pad their invoices but can't prove anything, just like I can't prove the worker broke my part. However, after this last incident I will no longer patronize the shop and will not recommend them to anyone I know.
