I used this company in the past and was satisfied. Now they are using " third party Sales Representatives " to do their quotes. The estimate I received was incomplete (didn't include what I specifically requested i.e. grinding of the stump of the removed tree). The estimate was also several hundred dollars more than another quote I received. There are to many tree services in this area. Do your research and don't hire any company that send "sales representative" to do their estimate. read more

This company was hired by neighbor to trim their trees. These people drove their truck over our freshly piled leaves and then left them strewn about without any regard for tidying up the mess they created with their truck. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional. I would not recommend using Rich Tree Service since they obviously have no regard for the environment that they work in. read more

I'll begin with the positive. Hired Rich tree service, to take down a large tree in our front yard. Original date got rained out, of which we did not get a call, but ok it was raining. Guys came the next week on 4/15, did fast, efficient work. Cleaned up nicely and said another crew will be out in 1 or 2 days to grind the stump and roots. Weather was fine the next two days, no calls, no show. My husband gets on the phone and this is when excuses started. Oh, we need to find your paperwork, he didn't show up for work, we'll get back to you. After several more calls, guy shows up one week later on Monday, 4/21. He does great work, but now we have a large pile across our front lawn of the grinds, which we paid extra to get taken away, get new top soil put down & seeds. He said someone will be out the next day (Tuesday). My husband started calling Wednesday to see when they would be out since no one showed, yet again. Same old story, we need to find your paperwork, someone will get back to you. Well, today is Friday, 4/25, no calls. My husband gets back on phone & same story. Calls our salesman and he says he will look into it and get back to us. Well, 4 hours later, still no call and no answer, husband called again and salesman did not answer. Wonderful experience with having a huge tree removed in the back yard, a few small trees taken down. Thomas introduced himself and his crew #9. They worked hard, they were accurate and amazingly no damage when taking down which was hanging over my garage. One of their drivers rear ended my car with their tractor trailer truck... refused to give their insurance information at the scene ... driver made inappropriate comments when asked for his insurance information. I called the office to get the information so I can file the report with my insurance company the office manager Diana was rude and disrespectful. Continued to refuse to give insurance information. My insurance company also spoke with Diana the office manager who continued to refuse to provide insurance information to them. Please be aware of the risk you take with this company. Poor customer service and out right disrespectful even when you are polite to them. read more

First let me say I dont take pleasure in giving any business a bad review, and i will just stick to the facts here and why I give them a 1 star review. I have been using them for 15 years to cut trees down for me, quality of work they did and the work crew are great no issues with them, my issue is there price gouging. This year everyone seems extremely busy due to the storms, i get it, I tried to get an estimate from the for 2 months and finally when the person came to do the estimate his name was Charlie, gave me the most ridiculous estimate I have ever seen to cut a tree down, This tree at a high should not have been more then $1,800 maybe even $2k which is on more of the very high side, he quoted me over $3,100 to take a tree down, also they have always charged me $300 for stump grinding and decided to be very generous it seems to charge me only $200 wow. Then when i called the office I spoke to a lady there and asked to please pass on this quote to Rich and let him review it she said she would and never did, another lady called me back and said Charlie said thats the best price and when i expressed to her that i never got such a high quote from them and I have been a customer for 15 years her response was SO WHAT I DON'T CARE!!!!! Nice way to treat your customers. I have called several places all quotes came under $1700 and was able to get someone to do it for under $1,400. Do your research shop around cause they are price gouging due to the fact they are so busy, if they would of told me we cant take it on right now I would be okay with that... now our 15 year relationship is over and will never do business with such a dishonest company. read more

One of the most ridiculous and un-prepared crews i've ever worked with. They came out and priced a job knowing full well where it was located & what should be required. Crew comes out ill-prepared - get their equipment stuck (no mats on truck) messing up my the lawn in process and then decides their not taking the tree down i hired them to do. I got short changed & now lawn repairs i have to do myself for their incompetence. These are not just tire ruts which would be expected, these are deep gouges & large areas of turf Unless its on driveway, stay clear of these clowns. read more

Absolutely horrific customer service. We've been waiting almost 2 months for them to come cut down a tree on our property and have gotten nothing but a series of lies about why they haven't come out yet. Finally today was the day they were coming "first thing." By 10:30 am they hadn't shown up so we called to find out what was going on. Tim proceeded to lie to my husband about a guy coming and not being confident in climbing the tree (why wasn't this discussed when they came out for the estimate 2 months ago). So rather than the guy speaking to us, he just left. No one called us. Nothing. This is a bald-faced lie. In actuality, the 1 crew went to another larger job and blew us off AGAIN. Incompetent office staff. Scheduled a date and time, office called an hour before they were supposed to arrive at 12 noon to cancel and reschedule for the next day. The next day they canceled, they supposedly had an emergency and rescheduled for 7:30 a.m. the next day, we agreed and they didn't show up. Called and the office staff said, who did we speak to? They called us to reschedule...at that point we have had enough. We arranged for someone else we had used before. We will never use those in mail coupon offers again. The estimate paperwork looked impressive, member of this and that...we did not get experienced service even before they started. Tim Daley provided a fair quote to have trees removed. David and his crew took down 4 large trees at my house in Pittstown. They worked very fast and efficiently. They left the yard raked and leaf blowed. They shredded small diameter limbs and neatly stacked the logs on the side of the road for a log truck to pick up. I highly recommend Rich's tree service. They didn't remove all of the dead branches and when I asked about it the guy told me they weren't dead and I knew they were dead because they never had any leaves on them all summer. Their chain saw broke so they couldn't use it. They left a mess in my yard, sidewalk and street. I asked them to clean up all the twigs and the guy raked up a few. It took my husband and I two hours to pick up all the twigs and pieces of wood they left. We picked up three leaf bags full of twigs. When the office called about sending me a bill I told him that I wasn't satisfied with the job and that they left a mess that we had to clean up, the response I got was "oh, I'll tell them". Really unprofessional business. For $450 I expected much more. read more

They removed the trees as promised but left the area messy. Rich offered mey a $119 discount for paying cash. I assumed he didn't want to take the 3-5% hit if I used a credit card and I didn't want to give thousands of dollars in green cash to the laborers who I didn't know so I gave them a check. In my word "check is the same of cash" if you're trying to avoid CC fees. But I learned the hard way from them that for them cash is cash and checks aren't. There's only one reason I can understand their view but I won't go there. Long story short I explained the discrepancy to them on many calls. I asked Rich to call me himself. He never did and they refused to acknowledge my point so I paid them their $119. They can cut trees but they could really use some better business acumen. read more

My property is heavily treed and over the course of years living here I've found it necessary to hire tree professionals several times for trimming, cabling, removal, and saving trees damed by storm or disease. Rich tree service's negligence killed my dog. Plain and simple. They apparently called my mother, asking whether they should come by and clean up her yard. Without her responding, they came over anyway, and left the back gate open. My dog ran out of the gate, and was hit by a train. To those of you who own dogs, I'm sure you can imagine the horror of learning your beloved pet was, for lack of a better word, disintegrated. The facts are: 1) they were trespassers on her property ; and 2) they killed my dog. Do not hire this company. Rich's Tree Service is on of the worse companies I've ever dealt with. The office staff or scheduler should be fired. I hired them to remove some overhanging branches from my neighbors yard on one side of my property. A Job that should have taken 3 hours at most. They did a half-ass job the first time they came out. I called and told them I wasn't going to pay the invoice until the job was finished. They came out a second time without first calling me or my neighbor, whose property they would need to get access to. I told them I couldn't give them permission to go on my neighbors property and I sent them away. They called and gave me a new date they would be back to finish the job. Guess what? You got it! They never should up at the scheduled time. I called and they gave me a lame excuse about the rain earlier in the week backing up their work schedule. I see from other reviews others have had the same experience as I did. At least they are consistently bad. read more

I have never used Rich's Tree Service before, But will use them from now on, EXCELLANT!!!, I called he came out right away, very personable, very knowledgable, doesnt try to sell you something else. LISTENS to what you want. And the appointment was the next week, (I'm sure they get backed up but) The guys came out (4) so professional, so polite, did the job, cleaned up... I am just glowing, so happy wanted this done for 3 years, Dead branches over my pool, nothing was dropped even near the pool... they cleaned, chipped, used a leaf blower, raked, I can not say enough about this crew he is so lucky to have such a wonderful crew that work so well together.
