I thought I'd provide my 2 cents of opinion after 10 years of Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery performed by Dr. Meister. My vision was horrible, considered legally-blind. I could only see clearly if you put your face up against mine. That's how bad! My vision was so poor that I wasn't eligible to have Lasix surgery. PRK surgery has afforded me to see without glasses or contact lenses. The recovery is slower than Lasix, but the gift of clear vision each week was a blessing provided by the skilled-hands of a talented surgeon. I was treated with respect & the team was supportive with my questions & concerns. Now, that I'm reaching middle-age, I'm thinking of a "touch-up" as typing this review is signaling my old-eyes may need a bit freshening! read more

It seems that previous yelpers rating Dr. Meister have been having trouble with their own record keeping and their own insurance carriers and are blaming him and his staff. That being said, here is MY experience with Dr. Meister: My vision was so bad I could not read large print 3 inches from my face without glasses or contact lenses. My optometrist recommended Dr. Meister so I went for a consult. The staff were so friendly and calming. (I was terrified because I am a wuss when it comes to my eyes or my teeth.) They reassured me that I would be adequately sedated during the procedure. The staff covered all of my questions and explained everything to me so there was no room for error on the day of. The front desk staff was very detailed and specific about what paperwork I needed to have filled out. They were also great when I called them and admitted I had lost my copy so they sent me over a new one. Gasp.. attitude free! Day of surgery: I went in and the super friendly staff made sure my paperwork was signed and gave me my first sedation pill. I couldn't stop fidgeting with nerves so they gave me a little extra to calm me. Once I was taken back into their surgical prep area I was still very nervous but the staff were comforting and supportive. When it was my time I went in, laid down and got my numbing drops. Again the surgical staff were extremely understanding of my terror. They began to walk me through what they were going to do so I stopped them. I let them know that details freak me out so if they could just tell me when I need to move, be still or any other instruction they needed me to follow and leave out all the details it would be better for all of us. They laughed and it wasn't a problem. The entire procedure took approximately 10 minutes. I walked outside and could immediately see but not 100% clearly. By my next day appointment my vision was 20/20 and now that it has been over a month I am operating better at 20/15. Dr. Meister and his staff completely changed my life (I can see street signs and don't pass dirt driveways in the dark twice before finding them now!) and my mothers life before me 10 years ago when the procedures were less advanced. I would recommend this office for your lasik procedures every time. Thanks guys!! read more

Dr. Meister performed LASIK surgery on my eyes which resulted in 20/20 vision the day after the procedure and it has continued to get clearer as time goes on. Having been nearly legally blind beforehand, I now feel as though I am looking through a miracle every day. Dr. Meister is kind, professional, and knowledgeable, having been performing LASIK surgeries for decades. After reading the extensive biographical information about him and hearing from THREE different employees of his whose lives he had changed forever with LASIK, I had full confidence I was getting the best treatment from the best doctor. I would absolutely recommend him to my personal friends and to anyone. read more

Because of problems encountered with Dr. Meister's accounting department, I am changing my recommendation from four stars to two. After my surgery, I received a statement in June from THE EYE SURGERY for $50.00 with no explanation and marked Second Request. I had not received any previous billing and called their office. This is hard to believe but the young lady was quite obtuse and kept asking me if it was Dr. Meister or the Surgery Center. I had told her I had received a statement from THE EYE SURGERY (which is how their statement reads) and she said, "Are you calling for the Surgery Center or Dr. Meister?".. I said, "Young lady, I said it was 'The Eye Surgery'.. It doesn't say Center on the statement." She said, "You'll have to call back and ask for the Surgery Center".. I hung up and dialed the same number again and guess what? The same young woman answered the phone. I told her, "I want to talk with the Surgery Center" and she asked, "What is it about?".. I replied, "Young lady, I don't understand why I had to call you back? Couldn't you transfer me the first time I called? It is about a bill I just received. Would you please transfer me?".. She did. The next young lady was not much better. She kept telling me the billing was due to the charges made by my insurance company. When I told her my insurance company was HealthNet, she said, "No, it is Sutter".. After several minutes she finally gave me Sutter's telephone number, which I called and was told the charge would be corrected. Evidently Sutter processes their billings. Monday I received another statement from THE EYE SURGERY (which I find out is actually The Eye Surgery Center of Northern California) and went through very similar discussions I had the first time. Unbelievable!! I called Sutter back and was told the claim had gone through this morning (since June) and was told they normally take 30 to 45 days to process a claim. That too is unbelievable. They gave me the claim number and hopefully I won't hear from THE EYE SURGERY again. If you have Dr. Meister do your surgery, be forewarned and understand he has two separate companies in the same office. They are unlike any other doctor's office I've dealt with in the past and I won't use them again. read more

Amazing outcome. I had lasik and mono vision surgery 4 days ago and both my reading and distance vision are better than they were with my contracts prior to surgery. The entire staff from the initial consultation through the surgery were excellent. I arrived at 12:30 pm on the day of surgery and was done at 2:20 pm. The actual time in the surgery room was about 10 minutes. While the surgery was not particularly enjoyable it was certainly no worse than getting work done at the dentist. My only regret is that I didn't do this years ago. read more

Bye-bye glasses and contacts!! I finally bit the bullet and had LASIK last week by Dr. Meister. It was a great experience. The staff was amazing and I felt comfortable and confident in their abilities every step of the way. I was only in town for a short period of time and they were very accommodating to my timeframe. I couldn't be happier with my LASIK experience. Thank you Dr. Meister and staff! I'm sure there are many different reactions people can have from LASIK and I was fortunate enough to not have one single negative side effect. But even if you have a side effect, that does not mean it wasn't a successful procedure or that Dr. Meister didn't do a good job. The side effects are listed in all the consent forms you sign. The girl who had the surgery before me came out very frazzled which made me nervous to go in. But the staff was very friendly and comforting - I had no problem sitting through the 5-10 minute procedure. Obviously your eye is numb, but your eye lids are not, so the tape could be irritating to some people. I found it tolerable for a few minutes. I was able to see RIGHT AWAY even though they said vision may be hazy the first day. It was never blurry for me and I was amazed. The eye drops did sting and I didn't look forward to using them those first couple days. My only negative experience was I have severe light sensitivity to the point that i was wearing sunglasses inside for a few days. This could have been expected since even without LASIK I had eyes that are sensitive to light. It made me very naeusous and lacking an appetite. I had to sleep in the middle of the day to feel better. But regardless, that was something to be expected from the procedure and completely worth my 20/15 vision! I am so happy and this has drastically improved my quality of life. I recommend it to anyone on the fence! read more

Horrible, my husband had LASIK done by Dr. Meister and one eye was not numb, so my husband had surgery without anesthetic and it was very painful. He needed more surgery and after the procedure his eyes were no different. He complained that the surgery did not work but Dr. M said yes it did. It was another MD (Dr. Cooper) who mentioned that the LASIK machine was not working correctly when my husbands surgery was done. My husband had the third surgery done by Dr. Cooper and his vision is fine now. Stay away from Dr. Meister, he is a quack. read more

would not give a star to this place at all. I had cataract surgery at the northern California eye surgery center by Dr. Meister, I went back several times with complaints that my vision was off and the glare and halos were terrible. These people do not care to address the problem and find a resolution. The woman doctor insulted me by telling me I will appreciate my vision when I'm sixty two, I was 43. I told her if I lost vision in my right Eye I would not be able to drive due to the fact that it is so bad and she just laughed and said I was being over reactive. Another doctor told me That the surgery was perfect and he seemed annoyed that I wanted a vision test after giving me a prescription for glasses said well that is the best I can do as if it was an inconvenience for him I brought my daughters with me as witnesses. I finally called again very upset and got an Appointment with Dr. Meister who did say finally that I had a PCO secondary cataract and that The yag laser would take care of it another 1,000 dollars and still not right and come to find out that after you have the yag laser it makes removal of you IOL almost impossible to remove if there was a chance to replace it due to complications, No mention of this was told to me just a jump to spend more money. They did not offer any solutions just that it is all in my head and they have never had any problems with other patients. Spent 6,000 dollars at this place you would think they could at least listen to there patient when they have a problem instead of dismissing any concerns they have. I have looked online and there are people who have the same problems I have and there are solutions that can address some of the problems if these people actually took the time and cared and weren't just looking to make a profit. I finally have an appointment with a new doctor today and I am optimistic that they can give me some insight to the problems I am having and some resolution to decrease and improve those problems. read more

Do NOT go to NVISION Eye Centers! Lasik did NOT happen on 5-4! The staff was SO unprofessional. I arrived 40 minutes before they requested to allow time for questions, paperwork and sedation. They took me back 30-45 minutes after they requested I get there because they scheduled me during their lunch. Once back they realized I needed an extra half a Xanax but only gave 10 minutes for all of it to kick in (regular and the extra half dose). They were warned days prior by myself AND by my regular eye doctor that I need kid gloves and extra sedation. Pills take longer than 10 minutes from swallowing to kick in, nurses and MDs should know this. They came out from the operating room for me and I told them straight faced that the Xanax hasn't kicked in and I need more time and feel completely normal and like I could drive. They man handled me taking me into the room by the arm and grabbed my face trying to shove drops in when I told them I wasn't ready. I requested the other nurse who did the drops successfully do these and was told no that the bad lady has been doing it for 18 years and she always does. The surgeon, Dr. Meister, then tried to shame me saying I was only the second patient he has ever had not be able to get it done. They took me back late and tried to use scheduling as the excuse why I wasn't allowed to be sedated properly. They mentioned trying to reschedule and I refused saying that I wanted to leave and demanded my almost $5,000.00 back. At this point I was grabbed by the back of the neck and escorted out to the waiting room by a 6'4ish linebacker type guy. I'm 5'3 by the way. They did refund me, but no apologies. I spoke with my regular doctor last night as well as Griffin and Reed Eye Care (Lasik) this morning and both offices agreed that from a medical and human standpoint that what happened was disgusting and completely unacceptable. read more

I had monovision lssik. The results were not good. I cannot recommend this place for lasik surgery.

Dr. Meister performed LASIK surgery on both of my eyes on January 14, 2015. I had an absolutely wonderful experience. On my first visit to the office, Brenda did an outstanding job of explaining the procedure and letting me know what to expect. She let me know ahead of time of any side effects I may have - but I experienced no side effects at all. She was very clear on the post-op instructions which were very easy to follow. The day of surgery went as smoothly as possible - everyone I encountered was both friendly and professional. After over 40 years of wearing glasses and contact lenses I just love my new 20/20 vision!! read more

Wonderful experience. Dr. Meister and the staff are the best! It felt like I was amongst family every time I was in that office. I had Lasik surgery yesterday and right away I was able to see and had tears of joy in my eyes and staff rejoiced with me. I was horrified before of eye surgery and they were very considerate to take the time to take my fear away. I received so many hugs and was walked through everything in detail and was really comfortable. All of my wishes were taken in consideration and I can honestly say that THEY ARE THE BEST! read more
