My insurance company and I have been butting heads for 4 1/2 years over receiving a badly needed (and very expensive) treatment. Dr. Myerson is the first doc that did blood work, and found a source of my misery that would definitely need this expensive treatment. This makes me quite relieved. Dr. Myerson is thorough. Yes, I know you have to wait when you get to his office. And there is sometimes a four month wait for appointments. But he is well worth it.

After doing my research and getting some crap over the phone from my first choice, I decided to give Piedmont Endocrinology a try. I called and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She advised of a recent cancellation and could squeeze me in the following Friday - perfect! She told me I would be seeing Dr. El-Kebbi. I arrived 30 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment to complete all of the new patient paperwork. After I was done, friendly receptionist called me up to the window to advise me that Dr. El-Kebbi was a few minutes behind schedule, but I was his next patient. She apologized for the delay and I went back to playing Jewel Mania. I'm usually super super anal about being on time. Maybe I'm just jaded now because I'm convinced that no doctor is ever on time, but I at least appreciated the fact that she took the time to tell me that he was running a little late. With previous doctors, most just let you sit there until you realize your appointment was supposed to be 45 minutes ago. So 5 or 10 minutes later, I'm called back. I'm taken to an exam room by a super friendly guy who's name escapes me. He also apologizes for the delay and emphasizes that Dr. El-Kebbi really doesn't like being late. We go over some basic info and he advises that the Doc will be in a moment. Let me first say that my previous doctor was a bit standoffish. Nice enough, just didn't seem overly personable or concerned. I experienced the complete opposite with Dr. El-Kebbi. He was warm and friendly and very interested in my medical care. He provided valuable insights into certain aspects of my medical care that I feel were lacking with my previous doctor. I honestly felt like I was speaking with a friend the whole time. There was one awkward moment when he seemed to fail to understand how I could be so certain that I would not be getting pregnant, but we got through that. It's quite funny in retrospect. The whole appointment went exactly how I feel a doctor's appointment should go. I'm almost (but not quite) willing to overlook the tardiness, but we'll see how that goes in future visits. I highly highly recommend Dr. El-Kebbi to anyone in the market for a new endocrinologist.

I arrived for my appointment on Wednesday. Not the greatest drive from Marietta, but worth it. Dr. Patel is my new favorite endo ever. She's young, up to date on the latest research on Thyroid health, and spent real, quality time with me going over my chart and medical history. I was in and out in about an hour (even as a new patient) - including labs. The lab technicians were friendly, quick and painless as was the check out process. Overall, I'm very pleased!

The precision of his work is truly remarkable. My post-operative X-rays clearly demonstrate the meticulous care and technical excellence he brings to his craft--an image truly worth a thousand words. I genuinely believe this type of surgery is both a science and an art, and Dr. Refai is a master of both. Because I am a small person, he thoughtfully designed and fitted a cage specifically for my smaller anatomy. That level of individualized surgical planning speaks volumes about his expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for each patient. Equally impressive is Dr. Refai's outstanding bedside manner. He is kind, patient, reassuring, and truly listens. At every stage before and after surgery, he took time to explain, answer questions, and ensure I felt informed and confident. His compassion and calm presence made an enormous difference in my experience. Just as remarkable was the entire Emory care team. The nurses and staff were consistently kind, patient, attentive, and professional. BE WARNED. I do not think this man should be practicing medicine. My mother recently passed away…read more Dr Friedman was her doctor for years. When she finally had one of her many back fractures filled with "cement." We told the orthopedic surgeon that her GP Dr Friedman, told her she had BORDERLINE osteoporosis. The surgeon said, "Get a new doctor." The surgeon recommended an arthritis and rheumatology specialist, who started intensive treatment for what they diagnosed as "severe osteoporosis." When she passed away, she had lost 8" of height and was partially bent over. For years, Dr Friedman told her that her shortness of breath was from allergies and her lungs looked fine in an X-ray. My sister and I kept trying to tell her it wasn't normal to have to stop walking to catch your breath every few yards and to have to work hard to take a deep breath. Finally, when she had that same back-fracture procedure, they were surprised at her low pulse ox rate was when she arrived, but chalked it up to a long walk from the parking lot. After the procedure they could not get her pulse ox up anywhere near an acceptable number. She plummeted down when they tried to wean her off the oxygen. They finally got her back to her 90% level that she came in on, and they told us to use her oxygen at home. They were stunned when we said she had no supplemental oxygen at home and had never been to a pulmonologist. When they released her, they said you HAVE to go to a pulmonologist immediately. The first time she went to her pulmonologist, she was diagnosed with the progressive and terminal disease, pulmonary fibrosis. She was told she needed to be on 3LM of supplemental oxygen 24 hours a day. For some reason, she refused to find another GP, despite the pressure from me, my sister, and my father. The next time she went for her annual exam, Dr Friedman took an X-ray and explained that she had pulmonary fibrosis, as if he had just made an amazing diagnosis and explained it to her as if it was the first she'd ever heard of it. When she was 87, we had to take her to the doctor and go inside with her. She made us promise not to bring up all of Dr Friendman's MANY failures as her doctor. We agreed because we wanted to respect her wishes and because her health was being managed by all of her specialists at that point. Dr Friedman was just doing her annual checkups. At each checkup, he explained that she had pulmonary fibrosis and spoke to her as if it was the first she had heard of it, even though she was sitting in front of him, breathing with a big oxygen tank. I will never forget when she was on a big tank in the office, with a spare tank next to her. He asked her if she was on supplemental oxygen. My mother and I were both stunned and momentarily silent, then he looked up from his computer and said, "Oh, yes, you are." Now that my mom is gone, I am going through with my intentions to warn EVERYONE possible, that this man is an incompetent, dangerous fraud. STAY AWAY. It is unbelievable that he still has a medical license.
