They also billed my insurance for 2 line items that were NOT included on my treatment plan and I have no idea if they're a legitimate charge. I have tried to reconcile this a couple of times and was told their billing department is hard to get a hold of and was not provided a number. Upon follow up, I was informed that Amar in billing would be calling me shortly. Three days and I never got a call. In addition to the overpayment, they charged $299 for a post surgery 3-month perio maintenance on my treatment plan AND billed my insurance for it. Why in world would you charge me (and bill insurance!) for a service you haven't yet provided? That should have been my first red flag because I also paid that $299 at the actual appt in July. I believe that's what's referred to as "double-dipping" on their part. I have at least 3 more procedures (sinus lift/bone graft/2 implant placements) to get things as I'd like. When I met with them last week for the sinus lift treatment plan, they calculated my insurance at $0. Zero. Nothing, when I know they will at minimum cover most of the IV sedation, even if none the surgery itself (nor did they include any credit for overpayment from April). This puts me paying out of pocket for 100% of it, thus effectively being over-billed again once my insurance covers their part. Add in a billing department that refuses to engage with patients. I fully believe this business is dishonest in their billing practices. Dr. V is a great surgeon. He really is. But I don't trust them with my money, so I am no longer trusting them with my mouth. I am already seeking a new periodontist. I encourage anyone whom has/is doing business with ToothHQ to please check your insurance EOB against their treatment plan for any discrepancies. I sincerely believe this periodontal clinic is deliberately engaging in unethical financial practices.

I was told that insurance would be verified and that they would submit everything for a coverage estimate prior to treatment. After my exam and X-rays, I was informed that I had periodontal disease and would need scaling and root planing. I was also told I had approximately nine cavities and was strongly encouraged to proceed with laser treatment that was not covered by insurance. At no point did I feel I was given clear, conservative options or a breakdown of urgency versus elective procedures. The initial visit resulted in a $200 charge, and I was quoted approximately $800 for the recommended deep cleaning. Because the diagnosis felt significant, I sought a second opinion as I've never had periodontal issues and receive regular cleanings (I worked in the dental industry for years). At another dental office, I was told that I do not have periodontal disease and do not need scaling and root planning cleanings. Their review of my X-rays showed no signs supporting that diagnosis, aside from two isolated pockets near areas where my wisdom teeth had previously been extracted. Then was informed I have two areas on my molars that needed very small fillings on the occlusal areas. They were shocked my Mason Dentals treatment plan! Based on this second opinion, I'm concerned about the difference in diagnoses and the treatment plan I was given. I would recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding with Mason Dental.

His team, especially Rosa, were very compassionate, answered all of my questions, and even responded to any calls or texts I had regarding the procedure and recovery in between my visits. The day of my surgery, the whole team helped me calm down and joked with me until the very moment the IV kicked in. Dr. Choi has also been the most successful doctor to get an IV set up with me (I have tiny veins and bruise easily). He made the whole experience smooth and more painless than I ever expected. The actual gum graft covers five of my teeth. The pain was much less than I expected for this procedure, and that's coming from someone who doesn't always handle pain very well. Now I have healthy gums and I couldn't be happier with how it all worked out. I was very nervous going into this until I met this team. They honestly care about their patients and that makes all the difference in the world. Anyone who is even contemplating a gum procedure I would recommend to visit with this team. I went in for a denture repair and the person who took me back took me to do X-rays. When I told her it was a denture repair she said she had to x-ray first. That was obviously to rack up my bill. She said she had to do them and the she would "see if the lab tech could fix my dentures". I told her so needed to know IF he could fix them first and she rudely told me to give her my dentures. She came back and said it would be a week because they had to order the tooth so I could go somewhere else and maybe I would not have to wait a week. I left very upset and decided to go back in because I didn't know what to do. Alex was super kind and told me the tech might have a close match. While I was waiting my daughter found someone who would send my dentures to the lab and have them back to me the same day. I hope my experience was because of one uncaring person but the fact they wanted to do x-rays for a denture repair tells me they are all about the money.
