How refreshing to have a dental practice that focuses on what you need not what they can sell you. After all we have to trust our dentist. We do not have the knowledge to make our own diagnosis. I'd been seeing another dentist in the area and felt that every time I went I was being forced to have "extras" done each time ("this filling needs to be redone", "oh, now this one needs to be redone", "now we think you need a deep cleaning"). No lie, I think they redid one or two of the same fillings a couple of times! I could NEVER go in for a regular cleaning without them finding something "extra" that needed to be done!! So I decided to turn to Yelp to find a new dentist and read the reviews for Grapevine Family Dentistry, deciding to make an appointment trusting all the rave reviews I read. I scheduled an appointment for a deep cleaning since that's what the last dentist said I desperately needed...the hygienist did the usual x-rays, measurements, then began examining my teeth. She then spoke to the dentist & they both agreed that I did NOT need a deep cleaning and couldn't understand why it would've been recommended for me. Since this was what I came in for, as I was told that's what I needed, they easily could've performed (and charged the insurance company) for the deep cleaning, but instead were honest with me (which is what I never felt I was getting from the other dentist). If I could give them more stars just for their being so honest & upfront, I would! If you're looking for a new dentist, I would highly recommend trying them out!! Today was my initial cleaning and xray with Robin the Hygenist and Dr. Solis. What a wonderful experience. Robin was very gentle in taking all of those irritating xrays and found interesting subjects to discuss with me to keep me relaxed. Her cleaning was gentle and thorough. Dr. Solis reviewed my dental history, made suggestions in regards to my teeth sensitivity and even though I mentioned crown sensitivity, based on xrays and my responses didn't feel the need to call me back for further dental work. I feel so lucky to have found this wonderful dentist so close to home! I broke a tooth the night before, and they were able to get me in the following morning; I called another local dentist previous to finding Grapevine Family Dentistry and they were unable to fit me in until a week later. The staff was extremely friendly, and made me feel like a valued patient; and this was only my first visit. I hadn't had a teeth cleaning in several years, yet they didn't make me feel like a horrible person for not being more responsible with my cleanings or taking better care of my teeth. Before performing any work, they went over the details and cost with me, which I thought was very helpful and comforting.
