I initially came in for a consult to see what can be done to save and/or restore my wisdom and molar tooth. In addition I had slight pain in my molar and wasn't sure why since i had previously received a root canal in that tooth some years ago. Nevertheless, I ended up getting Dr Bruk as my dentist. He seemed cool, and I had a decent and friendly conversation with him. He did x-rays and couldn't quite tell me what the problem was. He starred at my x-rays looking lost and confused. He kept trying to explain to me the issue but to be honest I knew he was having trouble being straight with me, outside of the fact that he kept telling me the tooth had to be pulled and could not be saved, he didn't know why i was experiencing the pain (which only happened when i chewed which is what I kept repeating). I just wish he would have just told me that he wasn't sure what the problem was as far as the pain was concerned...but i feel like he didn't want to look stupid or less than smart. At the end of the day he was making up reasons as to why i was experiencing the pain, because he didnt really know why. He later wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic "just in case" i had an infection or came down with one....just in case?? After i repeatedly asked if i had and infection of which he could not really give me a straight answer. But that was nothing compared to what he did next. I then asked him to clean my teeth, and he did. It was a little uncomfortable from what i was used to but i managed through it. He kept aggressively cleaning around the problem (molar) tooth.When i got home i realized that i had a crack in the tooth that went from the front to the back, a crack that was NOT there before i saw him. Immediately after i got home i experienced pain!! I knew that an infection was going to set in so i went to fill the antibiotic prescription he gave me. I later called to make an appointment to see him again and was told i had to call later on in the week because that was when he was available. SO I did, later making an appointment and saw him that weekend. Again he kept babbling about how i need to pull the tooth BUT HE DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT HE CRACKED MY TOOTH, which is what caused me to have an full on pain and now a very active infection. I believe his thought process was that i needed it pulled anyway so why does it matter, but I didn't ask him to expedite the process. Then he got a little defensive because I was told him he should have never tampered with that particular tooth ( he cleaned it aggressively ). He changed the prescription to another medication in the same drug class ( which also did not help). What he should have done was change the drug class altogether because at this point the bacteria is now resistant. DUH! I called him a couple of days later telling him the antibiotics were not working (at this point i had been on them for a little over a week. the pain, swelling and infection was NOT clearing up, in fact it only worsened). THEN he had the audacity to have an attitude because i asked him to change the drug class, later telling me if it doesn't work to go to the ER to get IV antibiotics...WHAT THE HECK!!??? HE EXACERBATED A PROBLEM AND NOW HE'S MAD BECAUSE RESOLVING IT IS INCONVENIENCING HIM??? Further telling me to go see a specialist, of which i told him i was NOT going to wait a week to resolve the problem that i was experiencing of which he instigated. He came off, at this point very arrogant and annoyed but i didn't care because he did this to me! Angry or livid do not come even close to how I feel about this situation and the person who caused it. At times i wish there were ways that these types doctors can be policed. Some are good, and some are not and its unfortunate that you find out which ones are bad based on negative experiences or encounters that ultimately end up affecting the patient way more than the doctor. Even as i expressed pain he didn't even give me a prescription for that! Dr Bruk, I thank you for making my experience and my visit to ST Jude Dental Clinic a regrettable one!!!!

Dr. Conley is a great dentist. I've been to him twice - once for a cleaning and again for a filling. He was very thorough and took his time to explain to me what was going on. I had questions concerning the filling, so he drew me a picture to show what he was doing! Then when I had the filling done, he wanted to make sure I was completely comfortable with it. He even went back after the procedure when I expressed hesitancy about how it felt. The only thing I've got to comment on is if you're going to need an x-ray for wisdom teeth, I would suggest going somewhere else. You need a panoramic and unfortunately, Dr. Conley will not be able to provide you one. Wish I'd known before I actually gotten the x-rays, but what can you do? I ended up paying 109.00 out of pocket to go to a different dentist to get them done because my insurance only covered one Xray per annual coverage.

Dr. Favagehi placed an implant in my tooth in the spring of 2010 and I've had nothing but problems…read morewith the tooth since. The implant was placed in my jaw crooked, so, when my dentist placed the abutment and crown on, the tooth looked very misaligned with wide gaps on either side, sticking out dramatically toward my cheek. I have had chronic problems with my gums around it and shooting pain when I chew that throbs for hours afterward. Unfortunately, we are military and no longer live there and have a different dental plan now, so I have no recourse through insurance. Additionally, I am having to have that implant replaced with a custom abutment and new crown to try to correct all the problems, costing us close to $1000 out of pocket in addition to what I originally paid Dr. Favagehi for the implant work. This was my first implant and crown, so I had no idea what to expect or how it should look. In the interim, I had a different implant on another molar done by a dentist in Texas that is perfect and has caused zero problems. It's been a bit frustrating to say the least. Chronic pain is no fun. I don't even chew on that side anymore and have heat and cold sensitivity around that implant. It must go. I think they should refund me my out-of-pocket expenses for that bad implant at a minimum. And it would be most appropriate to cover my current additional expenses to repair it as well. That would be the ethical thing to do. When you pay thousands of dollars for dental work, it should be right or they should fix it for free. I shouldn't have to suffer AND pay double for their error. Caveat emptor.

I've had pedicures that were more painful than my dental visits with Dr. Kristallis. He has a calm, friendly demeanor that sets you at ease during your visit. I also have to give a shout-out to his office manager, who helped me figure out my dental insurance and is a delight to interact with. Finally, the office also uses modern technology which allows you to confirm appointments online and sends reminders via text. Thank you Dr. Kristallis for making dentist visits pleasant rather something I dread.

I find that most dentists are quite rushed, but he stopped and talked and I did not feel that he was in a rush to go see the next patient. Furthermore, I was cavity and problem free- the opposite of what I had heard from the previous dentist. I appreciated that he did not try to do non-necessary services to earn an extra buck. Dr. Kristallis & staff are just fabulous. I have recommended them to multiple friends. I have yet to leave a dentist actually smiling and happy.... But I did with Dr. Kristallis. The tone in which she spoke to me on the phone before I ever made it into the office was curt, but then when I finally came in the office, I felt that her tone was even more demeaning. The whole time she spoke with me, she'd never make any eye contact. I'm hard of hearing and wear hearing aids and trying to hear when people have a mask on is very difficult and she seemed to not want to repeat anything and that she simply didn't have time. (Mind you, there's no one else in the waiting area, nor is the phone ringing during this time which I would've understood if she couldn't answer my questions at the moment due to other office obligations). Finally I asked her to give me a second to turn on my mic (I have a mic that connects directly to my hearing aids via Bluetooth to help me hear better. The last question (about insurance) I started to try and ask her before going into the room with the doctor, I was stopped abruptly by her saying that it was time to see the doctor so I guess that was her way of not answering the question. Growing up, my family didn't have a healthy dental routine of seeing dentists. As an adult, I'm dealing with the consequences of that and trying to create healthier dental habits moving forward. I had even convinced my husband to give them a shot potentially leaving his normal dentist and hygienist that he's been going to for 10+ years since Capitol Family Dentistry is in the neighborhood. But unfortunately, my experience speaking with LaShandra multiple times over the phone before I came in for my first appointment coupled with my in-person experience turned me off a bit. Moreover, when I'd ask questions, she'd make assumptions that she knew the reason behind my question and answered based on what she thought I needed to know instead of just answering my question which made the communication even more tense (not to mention, leaving me without the information I was trying to get). I mean, I'm in the dentist's office ON MY BIRTHDAY with a broken tooth. Definitely not how I want to start off the morning of my birthday but to be made to feel like you're not worth the time is just not a good experience. Not sure how to proceed but I may still be looking for a new dentist. I hate to give such a highly regarded dental practice 2 stars, but when the experience with front desk is such that it leaves you feeling like you don't want to come back and you're weighing to yourself whether or not to continue to subject yourself to this type of treatment, I think it warrants it. The receptionist Lazandria or a name very similar is very rude. She is always the lady that answers the phone with the DC accent. She has been rude since my first appointment. Additionally, when contacting them about a follow-up, the receptionist hung up in my face claiming the dental office on the other line was calling about me, when I told her there is no way this could be true, she hung up anyway. She knew she was wrong because she called back and said, "I'm sorry they weren't calling about you, it was another patient and I apologize for being so rude". The fact you have to call back and acknowledge you can't keep you attitude in check lets me know this dentist does not care about who he hires and how they treat his customers. She was also very nasty when corresponding with them about my referral to a specialist. She told me it was not their fault that they may not be in network when they refer out to specialists. This is after when I called and asked how they refer to specialists, and she said they refer to specialists based on my insurance. She realized there was a problem and tried to walk back on what she initially said. You ARE NOT SAFE with them. Anyone that can hire staff that will be so reckless with your care is not a good establishment. This woman hung up in my face and proceeded to yell at me on the phone when she started changing her story after saying they referred me based on my insurance. They take no responsibility. All the equipment looks like it is from the 70's, and they don't even have water squirters for when they clean your teeth. Instead, after every quarter mouth, they raise you up in the chair, give you a cup of water to swish around, let you spit into this suction cup/funnel thing, and then lower you back down. The staff is nice but reserved. Dr. Colasanto is very friendly and jovial, he could be your grandpa, and I like that about him. He's probably about 75 years old but he knows his stuff. The first time I came in, he checked my teeth, said I had a small cavity and then slapped me on the arm and said, "Do you want to take care of that now?" I liked his spontaneity and appreciated that I didn't have to come back. The downside is on my second visit, from the time I entered the office to the time I left the office, it was 14 minutes. This included cleaning and check-up! So if you are interested in an in-and-out, quick and dirty, only stop you if there's a rotting hole in your mouth visit, go here. So I guess it's hard to review objectively since I don't have any comparison, but this is just my own experience with him. I have always felt totally confident in his abilities, he doesn't try to up-sell you on any procedures or treatments, but he'll talk to you candidly about the pros and cons if you ask him about various things. I don't think he's over-casual. He's casual but not unprofessional. He'll take the time to answer your questions and he'll take your concerns seriously. No, there has not been any redecorating in years, but that doesn't bother me. The office is clean and functional. Nothing is broken or peeling - just dated. I'd probably really rate him a 4.5, but I think he's close enough to a 5 that I will round up.
