I was at the doctor's office at my appointment time of 8:30 AM sharp. I was told to strip down and put on their garment. A full hour later, the doctor had not yet shown up at the office and I was beginning to shiver in the cold. Finally I gave up, put on my clothes and quietly left his office. Your majesty King Horowitz, do you consider us peons (patients) so worthless that you can't even attempt to show a minimal level of understanding for your patients? Are we peasants not even worth contacting to cancel an appointment if you are unable to make it? Couldn't be any happier with my selection for a Primary Care Physician. I phoned in for a first time appointment and his office manager was very accommodating. I was able to make an appointment for the following day. I arrived approximately 15 minutes prior to fill out paper work for I had a 1030 appointment. Easy health and physical questionnaire. As soon as I completed paperwork. Dr. Horowitz introduced himself, i addressed all my health concerns. He answered ALL my questions thoroughly. He is an amazing doctor. A plus is also having his own personal phlebotomists in his office. Who was also very very skilled in drawing blood for I didn't feel a thing. I was able to get blood drawn in the same office instead of going to a nearby laboratory which was very convenient. Then, on a late Friday afternoon around 6pm on my commute home from work, I received a very personal follow up call from Dr. Horowitz which I was very pleased and happy to receive positive results from my laboratory testings etc... Thank you Dr. Horowitz and all your staff for your care and excellent service. I would highly recommend all my family and friends to use you as their Primary Doctor. read more

Dr. Horowitz is amazing, but his staff is disaster. I can't even count how many times I've submitted medications for refill, only for the refill requests to be ignored, and when I call to find out why my refills aren't going through, I always get "we we don't check that" or "I can't see those requests" which is absolute bullshit. They just aren't looking for them, and honestly they don't give a fuck to look into it after you make them aware. This time I was told to call my pharmacy to have them call the doctor office to put the refill in, instead of just helping me right there while I'm on the phone. The problem with me calling the pharmacy is that the pharmacy doesn't have anything to go off of because no refill has been submitted to them. So they just give you the run around with the hope you'll eventually just go away. Well I'm going away and finding a new doctor because I'm tired of this unprofessionalism. read more

Good diagnostician, the office team is frustrating and there can be delays in communication. But I trust his recommendations.

If you see him in the office, 5 stars!.... However, if there is any hiccup and requires anything else outside of a visit, the quality dips dramatically in my experience. I've had delays in getting several prescriptions filled because 1) they weren't sent 2) were sent with wrong info 3) insurance or pharmacy required another step. Then, expect to have to call 5-10 more times over several weeks to resolve the issue. Compound that delay with a medication like an antibiotic or anti-depressant, it could have negative health consequences on the patient, perhaps significant ones. I'm saddened and disappointed that this state of affairs is seen as acceptable by Dr. Horowitz and his practice. read more

The review was not in any way negative against the Doctor's level of care which was always excellent. Having spoken personally with Dr. Horowitz regarding my past complaint, I am satisfied that the issues I had have been resolved and I can now honestly give Dr. Horowitz a rating of 5 stars once again. This review is for the horrible customer service after my visit. I have to say this doctor is an amazing person, he took his time to listen to all my concerns and answered all of my questions, he ordered several tests and mentioned within 3-5 days he will contact me to inform me about the results. When I didn't hear back from him, I contacted his office, within 2 weeks I contacted 3 times and asked them to let me know about my results as I was concerned, each time they took my number and they promised the doctor will call me back, well, it has been 15 days and no news. It's very unprofessional of these people to make their patient wait this long and they don't even bother to make a phone call. I shouldn't chase after my doctor, they've to be professional enough to deliver what they promised. Ugh, I was so excited that I finally found a good doctor but with this horrible customer service I have to another doctor who care enough to make a phone call. So this is an update after two months since I visited this doctor. Still no one from this office contacted me for my result. I had to find another doctor as one of the lump in my body is getting bigger and I am so scared. I called for like 4th or 5th times to this office to ask for my medical record. All I want is to email me the damn test results that they charged my insurance hundreds of dollars for it. The women who picked up the phone was like a broken record all she said was "I will relate your message" "uhm uhm uhm" she said the same thing over and over and over. She has a very dry attitude with zero customer service. I am going to report this doctor, his practice is not ethical. read more

Dr. Horowitz became my primary care doctor after my previous physician (dr. Gerald Leve) retired. He was my carer during some very sensitive years for me in my late teens/early twenties. He is extremely considerate of special needs, and provided me with the highest level of concern, and quality care and treatment. I can't speak highly enough, of him. After I moved to NorCal, I continued to fly or bus down to Cedars every three to six months for as long as I could afford to, because I felt safe with him. He has my highest recommendation. Dr Horowitz helped me start my hormone treatment to transition from female to male ( transsexual) many many years ago when there was no one in the Los Angeles area even versed on this type of thing. He was so companionate and made me feel safe. Fast forward to today where we now have TV shows and many doctors who can do this now, but Dr Horowitz was on the front lines fighting for people like me to be able to live our lives fully and with the use of hormones he made this happen. This Dr is utterly useless. While his bedside manner is fine, his whole practice is run in a completely amateurish way. He fails to answer messages, I had to call him for results from my physical as opposed to him letting me know the results. He also never gets prescriptions written on time an is horrible at following up on anything. He seems to barely be in the office at all and he has removed any power that his staff may have to actually help you. The best internist in the US!! I love Dr. Richard Horowitz, he is the only one I trust with my health, I'm been having lots of health issues in the last two years luckily Dr. Horowitz has been there for me, back in 2017 I started having erratic blood pressure spikes, that led me to severe anxiety panic attacks five trips to the ER and countless night with no sleep. Dr. Horowitz was able to take care of my problems, he lowered my BP to safe satisfying numbers (120/75), He took care of my anxiety panic attacks in no time, helping me to have sweet good night sleep. Lately I developed a superficial blood clot due to a long flight. The pain in my left calf was killing me, I went to see Dr Horowitz, he ordered an ultrasound, the ultrasound results confirmed the clot (Luckily wasn't a DVT) he prescribe me blood thinners, within a week the clot was gone. He has saved me costly trips to the ER. No matter what the situation is, he will always find a solution to your health issues, always making me feel safe and healthy, he never rushes me and always listening to me and explains to me in detail what my problems are and how he will fix it. He is located in the prestigious Beverly Hills area, his office is so clean with some nice wall art and the staff (Pablo and Rene are amazing and very accommodating. Please be careful when you choose to see and believe this doctor. I was treated for over a year by Dr. Horowitz and his assistant, John. I followed their every order after they diagnosed me with Lyme Disease, even though they never came up with a positive result. I took 3 different antibiotics 3x a day and injected Bicillin every other day; I took this medicine and believed I had Lyme Disease because I was desperate and had no other clue as to what was wrong. When other doctors disagreed strongly enough with Dr. Horowitz's diagnosis, I finally went to the Mayo Clinic. After 10 days of seeing specialists, I was diagnosed with a condition called Chronic Migraine. Within a week of discontinuing the antibiotics, I was incredibly improved. My energy came back within a week. This was 2 years ago and I am now living a full, normal life. I think Dr. Horowitz sincerely believes he is doing the right thing, and I don't doubt that he does help patients. But not every case that looks like Lyme Disease IS Lyme Disease. Nausea, fatigue, eye pain, general malaise...are not symptoms that could fit a variety of problems. read more

At first the staff was oddly non-committal but, after I started to call them by name, they seemed to respond pretty well. Dr. Horowitz is our family doctor. I know I wrote a review of him before so I must have posted it wrong or something, because I don't see it here. Where to start? Many years ago, I was about to be checked in by another doctor, to a different hospital, for exploratory surgery because that doctor believed I had a brain tumor. Thank God, our wonderful pediatrician, Peter Shulman, stopped me, and sent me to Dr. Horowitz. Late, on a Friday afternoon. Richard got me in, and somehow, got me in for an MRI, and other tests as well. It turned out I had Idiopathic Pseudo Tumor Cerebri (and I may be spelling that wrong, this was over ten years ago.) Meaning, it looks like a brain tumor, but it is not. It was treated by withdrawing spinal fluid, as an outpatient. Dr. Horowitz, (and Dr. Shulman), saved me from unnecessary brain surgery. A hell of a great way to find a great doctor. We've been with him ever since, and have referred everyone who wants a great doctor to him. He is old style, yet on the cutting edge of medical knowledge. His staff are also all amazing. Kami and Pablo are caring, patient, intuitive, you name it. I haven't had the problem with the long wait in his waiting room. He does take his time, and doesn't overbook, again, old style. My dad was a doctor, and he was like that. It makes you set your standards almost impossibly high, so if I tell you Dr. Horowitz is the real deal, it's true. He's brilliant. You will see famous people in the waiting room, and regular people like myself, and all are treated exactly the same, with great care and brilliance. We are forever in this man's debt. read more
