Very disappointing for me trying this recently for the first time first time. First off, we were seated in the back room where practically everybody was in the restaurant. Most of the tables were taken, and it made the room very loud. Second, the first drink I tried to order was apparently a seasonal drink, but still on the main menu so I couldn't have it and then I ordered a different drink & it was was maybe a three out of five. I also ordered a burger off the menu with onion rings. The onion rings were exceptional, and the burger very underwhelming. The Gouda/ bacon burger and it was advertised as a half pound burger and there is no way in hell this was a half a pound burger. It was dry and maybe a Quarter pound burger at best. I will end on that our waitress was overall slightly above average although she never brought my water. I think I might give Place a second chance, we'll see. I may have to order an entrée or a sandwich next time and sit at the bar instead. read more

Stopped here on a whim. Very cool old world atmosphere. Greeted when we entered and was sat down immediately. Service was top notch. Had the Lucky Luciano it was delicious. We also has the chicken tenders they were hand breaded in a nice batter. The Gusenberg was a winner also! So flavorful. Definitely will come back!! read more

Uniquely created to give a different type of atmosphere. Food menu had a wide variety of burgers and sandwiches to accommodate anyone. For being middle of the afternoon service was good even when a large crowd came in, the staff was able to adjust and accommodate. Overall highly recommended. read more

My wife and I decided to try this place on a Saturday afternoon. There weren't many people there, but there definitely should have been. I got the chicken tender horseshoe and she got the gusenberg burger. First off, my horseshoe was absolutely crazy in size. I could not even eat half of it and I am not a small guy. It was the best horseshoe I have had in my lifetime. My wife also loved the burger, she let me try a bit of that too, and I also thought it was great. More people need to try this place out! Oh my God these are the best onion rings I've ever had in my entire life. I would die for these onion rings. I would give up my firstborn son for these onion rings. Never in my life have I had such crispy perfect onion rings. Richard Under Main is the hidden dining treasure. We went early, in order to take advantage of happy hour. Drinks were severed quickly and our onion rings appetizer came fast. Beer battered rings were hot and used sweet onions. Most excellent! I ordered a steak sandwich. My companions ordered a salad, a Dick's Smash burger, and a Big Jim burger. The food came when we finished our first round. My steak sandwich was juicy and flavorful with mushrooms, onions, and choices of cheese, Swiss tonight! I ordered onion rings, but was served French fries. Before long, our very attentive waitress, Ashlynn, brought me the rings with apologies for the mistake. The burgers were cooked perfectly. Both my companions raved about how juicy and flavorful they were. My friend's dinner salad was crisp and plentiful. We have eaten here several times and have always been pleased with our service and food. Our burger and steak sandwiches plus two drinks were under $70, plus tip. For casual dining before an event downtown, Richard's Under Main is an excellent choice! I'm afraid folks in Peoria will discover how good this place is, and we will find it harder to get in! read more

I'm posting this review for my Mother Jennifer who was in the restaurant the morning of Saturday November 5th -- My family came in town for the final cross country meet for my Nephew and decided to have a nice meal before the meet. I left my tan Gucci purse at the restaurant in a hurry on accident. (Yes I know that's my bad) I called as soon as I noticed and was told they FOUND my purse and would put it somewhere safe. So we turned around to head back. After 45 minutes we arrived back and a partner helped us. It seems there was a shift change in between us calling and arriving back at the the restaurant. He and a very sweet waitress searched all over with no luck whatsoever and did not understand why my purse was not in their safe or office. So he took our information and we went to the meet for cross country. We returned after the run and spoke to 2 different employees that said they BOTH seen it hanging on a hook. The bartender stated he had seen it as well but still no sign of my purse they claimed they found. Yet everyone here has seen it but no one "knows" where it is. The stories were not sitting straight so we called the police. The police met us at the restaurant and asked to view their cameras and they claimed they had a power outage so had no cameras to view. The police officer along with my husband and I both questioned why would you not put a purse away and instead leave it in plain sight. The bartender said yeah I know medications and keys and some other things were in there. He then stated where he would have put it if he found it which is funny because you knew what was in it so you clearly had it in your possession. The police advised them to question their employees and would be contacting people who look at liquor license since they could not let the officer view the camera footage. ALSO o hope you're aware that anything stolen over $300 is considered a FELONY in Illinois. Considering the purse alone was just about 4 times that you're in for a rude awakening if the police find out that it was you. PLEASE just turn it it and no questions will be asked. That purse was from my daughter and it held a lot of my important items. -- We live three hours away and I had to go without my medication, I am a drug and Alcohol officer myself and the keys to my facility were in that purse, sentimental jewelry was in that purse, etc... you really did a number on me. We all felt with the different stories this was an inside job. We will continue pushing as long as it takes and I will continue posting reviews any chance I get. I'm not mad at the owners but I really really suggest you look into your employees and fix this. I hope whichever employee took my purse needed my medications more than myself. If you have never been to Richards, then you need to go. It's an experience unlike any other. You go down the stairs and you enter into a underground bar that you would never knew could be so spacious. I'm very happy that this bar has reopened, and that their menu has grown. I have become very fond of their pretzel sticks with cheese. That's just the appetizer portion. My granddaughter loves the pulled pork nachos. My son loves their pizza and I myself am very fond of their whiskey chicken pasta. It is a made to order dish that will leave you wanting more. It has a creamy sauce with a rich robust flavor. If you ever went to Richard's back in the day, then you would understand that the bartender Roger has been there forever. There is a joke that he's just slept there during the five years it was closed. I have to say it's nice to have a familiar face such as him working back behind the bar. Serving the same great drinks that he used to all the days Old. Now he even has drinks up his sleeve to prepare for us. I'm very thankful to have Richard's back open again as a late night treat if I need to go out before 4 AM to grab a meal. Yes you read that correctly. They are open until 4 AM Thursday through Saturday. read more

I loved the ambiance! Everything that we tried to order they were out of. We finally asked, "What do you have?" What was available wasn't exactly what we went there for. We went for the steaks. I probably will not return because there are more places to eat in Peoria that actually have food in the fridge.
