Food is overall really good and they give quite a lot for the price you'd expect. The regular pho is big, small pho is a good amount for a teen. I think the broth was good but could have a bit more depth, but overall still really really good and fresh. The lemongrass chicken over rice was also very good, strong star anise flavor which we all like. The tofu with vermicelli was great, I really liked the tofu. The carrots and daikon are marinated lightly which was really good. Cucumber was shredded so it's easy to eat with the vermicelli. Overall we enjoyed everything. Just wish the place was a bit cleaner, but it's not bad compared to many other places! read more

I have been craving Vietnamese food so my boyfriend and I decided to go here. They offered lunch buffet or regular menu food. I took a look at their buffet and was interested since majority of the dishes were not really Vietnamese. Most of them seem a bit Chinese so I opted for the regular menu. I ordered their Saturday special which was bun bo hue or spicy beef noodle. My boyfriend chose the lunch buffet instead. My noodle came out pretty fast. The noodles were overcooked. The broth was missing a lot of important flavors. It needed some more fish sauce and shrimp paste. It was not entirely terrible. Also, it was spicy at all. However, they did have chili crisp that you could add to the soup. My boyfriend thought the buffet was okay. He really liked the lemongrass chicken. Overall, it was nice to have a Vietnamese place in Peoria. read more

I simply love the food here. This is a great place to obtain excellent Asian style cuisine. My personal favorite is the Lemongrass Chicken, but the Chicken Egg Rolls are a close second. I love to try new things and this is a great place to give it a shot and experiment with new food items. The service has always been good to excellent. The restaurant has changed over time but it has gotten more pleasant and enjoyable to sit in and the experience of 'eating it' has been really pleasant. It's well lit and you know that you are in a Vietnamese restaurant. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes and I recommend this place to everyone in the Central Illinois area. Interesting that it is a Vietnamese name but has Thai dishes. Overall, some hit and misses. Pho left something to be desired. May also be due to the fact that it was take away rather than in restaurant. Fried rice was delicious. Pad see ew was okay, noodles all stuck together, some is okay but a lot were here. We all enjoyed the buffet for lunch. There was excellent variety, things that even our selective 10 and 13-year-old children enjoyed, and we really appreciated the beautifully prepared vegetables. The chicken egg rolls are some of the best we have ever had in our lifetimes. read more

The only thing wrong with Thanh Linh is when we finish the crab Rangoon. It's so sad! I cannot explain how much better their Crab Rangoon are than ANY I've ever had. And I LOVE it. Ordered the large pho dac biet. The broth is lacking in fish sauce? I'm not sure but it was missing something important. Maybe it was missing fragrances of the spices like peppercorn, star anise, etc. However, it does hit the spot for someone who is craving pho. The server was nice to give two free plates of vegetables/sides. Had the lunch buffet another time and the selection is a Chinese-American style buffet. Green beans are perfectly blanched then stir fried. My favorite was the che chuoi, which is banana dessert with tapioca balls. The tom yum soup is also very good! The place is located near to Bradley. There's street parking. The place was busy on a Sat evening, but we were seated immediately. The staff were friendly and polite. The service was quick. Coming to the food: We tired their Shrimp Dumplings (5/5) - Amazing taste and flavor (one of the best items). The chicken spring rolls were good. The egg drop soup was also good (huge portion). The restaurant has a buffet also, so it was a small space with lot of people (a tad bit noisy). Overall a good local place. read more

Second visit... I went a few years ago but was not impressed since the food was not great, so I wrote them off, especially after finding Pho Noodle House in East Peoria (5 stars!). A friend was in town from Chicago and wanted to go here, so I obliged. She's Vietnamese, and said they have the best bun (cold vermicelli noodles). Huuuuuge portions--you get value for money here. I ordered the small pho, and it's probably the same size as Pho Noodle House's. While they don't skimp on the protein, I think the broth is better at Pho Noodle House. My friend ordered #42 and immediately put half in a to-go box and still had a ton left to eat. I didn't get to try any of hers; she didn't complain, so I assume it was good. She even got another to go to bring home. Service can be a little slow and you have to wave them down. I only saw two servers in our area over the busy lunch hour. read more

To provide a little bit of a backstory, we quite literally finished lunch at One World, another restaurant on the same block as Tanh Linh. We were walking back to our car (which was parked near the front of Tanh Linh), and couldn't help but notice the constant foot traffic this place had. I mean, we were near that area the entire day and just saw multiple people coming in and out. So, we decided to finally ask someone in front of the restaurant about it. They said Tanh Linh is really good and they highly recommend it. Mind you, we were absolutely stuffed from our lunch but we figured we were in Peoria for only one day, so might as well make the most of our experience. I typically never make back-to-back trips to restaurants but it was so highly spoken of. We only got the spring rolls, which were really fresh and vibrant looking. It wasn't messy at all, unlike the other spring rolls I've had in my past, and it had a soft, tender bite. The roll was strong yet pliable and well-assembled. The flavor was amazing, but what really tied it together was the hoisin peanut sauce. I'm really glad we stopped here because it was well worth it read more

But the bigger problem is the quality of the food, from using the lowest grade primary ingredients to the preparation of the end product. Most of the dishes taste as bad as they look, and for the few plates that have a half-way decent eye-appeal, the flavors are just either "off" or downright nasty. I can see why this place "might" be loved, especially in a college neighborhood- the menu is relatively inexpensive, and the portions are huge. Other than that combination of factors so appealing to the average Midwestern restaurant patron, there is absolutely nothing to recommend this place if you want good food that truly satisfies your palate and makes you happy. I think this might be the saddest pho I've had, u hate to say. We were visiting Peoria and was craving somewhere that served rice. I ordered the rare beef pho and my bf ordered the fried pork chop. We picked this place because of the reviews and awards they've won. Pho was a good portion, but when it came down to flavor, it was disappointing. It's like the flavor was missing - was the broth watered down? Beef wasn't sliced as thin, so it was tough. Then the real downer was when they brought me the veggies and more then half my bean sprouts were soggy, really unappetizing. This is the first time I didn't bring home my left over pho when I didn't finish it. The pork chops were good though, but rice was on the soggy side. ::sad face:: The pork dumplings were basic and bland. I recently ate at Thanh Linh with two other companions. I ordered the Shrimp and Pork Wrap with Peanut Sauce and we all got the buffet. I thought the appetizer was good and filling, but I could only eat one Wrap as they are filling. I loved the Peanut Sauce. I don't think they had everything labeled on the menu correctly which gave some of pause as what to eat and what we were eating. My favorite (honestly the best I've ever eaten) item on the buffet was the crab rangoon. I also tried a pork dumpling which was okay and two other dishes with some spice to them. I don't mind spice, but I left wishing I had ordered off the menu(General Tso Chicken). My other companions liked the buffet as they are not picky eaters, but I am most definitely picky. I loved all the condiments on the table and we think some were on the buffet as well. Only missing item for one of my companions was hot mustard. The service was fine, attentive, but not overwhelming. I stayed at the table to order the appetizer and it came out in good time. I left to get another plate and my dishes were cleared.
