Richard's installed a brand new engine in our daughter's Chevy Cruze less than a year ago, covered by warranty. Her check engine light came on recently, so I called and arranged to bring it in, telling the parts guy "because it's less than a year old since there should be a warranty." He said nothing to indicate there may not be warranty coverage, so we had it towed. A week later we get a call from the service department and were told that had we PURCHASED the new motor, it would have had a 3 year warranty, but since it was replaced under warranty it's only covered until the car's warranty is up (which happened to be this past summer). They gave us an estimate for $940 to replace a valve cover and front seal. Luckily my husband has a mechanic friend who overheard this, and who worked on many Cruzes and he believed this to be a common valve cover issue they're known to have. So, we brought it home and all it took was a $55 part from Keller and 30 minutes of his time. The front seal had no obvious signs of leaking. We were charged $167 for their "diagnosis". This was frustrating because had they let us know their warranty policy ahead of time, we wouldn't have even brought it in. Very disappointing, to say the least. I feel sorry for any customer who doesn't know a mechanic who can give them the real scoop and save them hundreds of dollars of unnecessary work. The sad thing is that prior to this experience we would have given them 5 stars for the initial engine replacement. They'd driven to Lemoore to pick up the car / left a loaner for our daughter. The second star is because they're all very courteous and polite. But the warranty policy and the inflated estimate left us feeling leery and disappointed. read more

The service dept is great here I took my car to Merle Stone in Tulare and they had no idea what was wrong with my car they actually misdiagnosed it but the guys here helped me get back on the road in no time. The staff at the service department at Richard Chevrolet have no concept of customer service to loyal patrons...any time we have tried to get simple tech info so we can make minor repairs ourselves...they just say "you gotta bring it down here and let us take a look at it" which costs a minimum labor charge and then if you have them fix the problem they WAY over charge..i currently also own a jeep cherokee and before that a honda accord and i have come across problems that I need a little info on before I attempt a self repair and called OEM dealerships for both vehicle manufacturers and asked to talk to a tech and they all were more than happy to flip open their shop manual and give me the information I asked for...every since todd took over the service dept Richards they have never accommodated me in this way or even been courteous...and we have tried several times on several different issues...same ole story every time with them... Todd Garcia is very rude the majority of the time Ive been down there or called..we have had bad experiences in the past with warranty service on our vehicles as well...when something's under warranty through them still they put you at the back of the line...and not very many problems are too big to worry about...you get the ole "oh that's normal" routine..but once your vehicles out of warranty they cant wait to get you in there and find out whats wrong with it at your cost...and thats not the only type of bad experience we've had...our 2006 Chevrolet 2500HD pickup had a bearing go out in the transmission and they required to keep the truck for over a week...closer to two if I remember correctly...they should've known it might take some time to have the replacement shipped and they could've had us keep the truck until the trans arrived and then they could've called me and the truck would've only been there a few days at the most...I don't have a shop with all the tools they do and I can swap a manual tranny no problem in one day...but all of that apparently takes too much forethought for them..and to top that off they ruined the seal on the shifter boot and marred up the shaft with a pipe wrench because they apparently didn't have the right tools to remove it...either that or didn't care...then they tried to cover it up by pulling the boot way up over the marred portion of the shaft and is probably what cause the boot to separate from the floor board...the only reason I noticed at all is because I could hear wind coming up through it and looked at it and it was no longer sealed up against the floor board...and I asked them to replace the parts they destroyed the next time I was in there..and they just fixed the boot...they didn't care about the marred up shifter...we have been buying vehicles and using their service department for about 25 years...and this is the type of treatment we receive from them...you would think with Todd Garcia running the service dept and being Richard Garcia's son he would treat their loyal customers at least a little better than that...one time I was in there I was trying to ask a question about a noise coming from the pickup and I was explaining to Todd what I thought it was and he just looks at me with a scowl on his face and says very rudely..."are you a mechanic???"and I just said "no I'm not ASE certified but I have worked on more than my share of cars"....and I am 99% sure that I know more about modern vehicles (and classic for that matter) than he ever will...he makes that very apparent if u try and call down there to ask a simple question about a diagram or schematic they just say to bring it in and have their mechanic look at it...because the clerical staff (josh) and the "service manager" (Todd) have no idea what your talking about I guess...so any time In the future a problem with my chevy arises I cannot fix myself due to lack of time or tools I will consider taking it to another dealer or even a third party repair shop...because even if the staff that run the service dept weren't rude and often ignorant they way overcharge you for repairs...I am always pleased with the staff in the parts department though...almost always helpful and courteous...even though they mark up the cost of their OEM parts quite a bit that is not the staffs doing...that, I'm sure is either GM or the managers and owner of Richard Chevrolet I mean 13 dollars for a CV dust boot CLAMP??? *update* After having experienced an even worse unethical vehicle purchase from Keller ford Lincoln and seeing how much worse warranty service can get. I am updating this review. I might one day give Richards Chevrolet another chance. I currently own a 2004 Chevy diesel and a 2015 vw Jetta diesel. I however regret the purchase of my 2011 ford diesel and am here to say that I will never purchase another ford anything. Ever. read more

In February we purchased a car from Richards Chevrolet. My husband found it via the internet. He knew exactly what we were looking for. Raphael worked with my husband to have everything ready when we drove two and a half hours to test drive the car. We loved the car. We spent an hour and a half signing paperwork with Gerardo and Raphael. And off we went. We felt so comfortable and happy with our purchase! They were so easy to work with. It just went so smoothly. I kept thinking, this just seems too easy? The day we purchased the car we noticed some condensation on the headlight. They offered to replace them both. After a few weeks we made arrangements to install the new headlights they ordered. They also were going to repair a few other small items that needed attention. They explained that I could drive to them or go to my local Chevrolet dealership. Well guess what? The local dealership does not loan you a car when you bring in your car for repair. Richards Chevrolet DOES!!! And they provide free oil changes! So I drove the two and a half hours to Corcoran! When I arrived I was greeted by Raphael and the service manager Marty. Marty listened patiently and explained everything to me. Once again I thought, this is just too easy! Then there was a little snafu. They did not have a loaner car available. They were still waiting on one to be returned. Raphael asked me to wait for a few minutes, so he could see what he could do. I could not believe it when they pulled a 2016 car off the lot to loan to me! I'm still not over it! If that's not over the top, excellent customer service I do not know what is! And I drove it home. I'm so thankful I do not have to be without a vehicle while mine is in their service Dept. I feel like a valued customer. They are honest, trustworthy and follow through on their promise of great customer service before, during and after your purchase! Many places forget about you after you drive away. They do not! This dealership feels like a throwback to the days when you felt like a business actually cared about it's customers. Gerardo was amazing in helping us come from Los Angeles to Corcoran to get the exact vehicle we wanted. He had everything ready for us and took his time to make sure everything was good with the deal and the delivery. There were no games played, and no finance guy to have to deal with after the deal was worked out. It was a very pleasant experience. There was one other salesman working at the desk across the office (sorry, I can't remember your name!) that came over to shake our hands and say hi. It was a small office and he was working with other customers at the time, but still was kind enough to acknowledge our presence. This dealership has a very different vibe from any other I've every been in. It was just after Labor Day weekend when we made the trek to get the vehicle. Gerardo said he had baseball games and other family stuff to do during the weekend but would come in any time during the weekend if we needed him to. Try finding that kind of dedication in L.A.!
