Have passed this restaurant for years, but finally at mealtime and stopped for lunch. Entrees were too pricey for me for lunch so opted for the salad bar and hot bar. Salad bar was good, but hot bar was mediocre. Pulled pork from a tub, meatloaf just okay, frozen mixed vegetables with no seasoning, and packaged macaroni and cheese with a thin, runny sauce lacking any cheese flavor. High expectations, very disappointing! Pricey experience at $27 with tip for a poor lunch. read more

Let's start with the positive...the ambiance is nice and the salad bar is very good. Unfortunately that was the best part of the meal. This restaurant has gone downhIll. We used to come here years ago (late 90s ) when we were in college. It seemed much nicer-maybe because we were poor college students. The food is just average and WAY overpriced for what you get. This place is in a super small town and has no business charging what they do. It holds special memories but we prob won't return. It's near the freeway, but it's tucked away, off the main toad where you exit, so I needed my guidance system to find it. Well worth the trouble. Cozy, charming place, especially to someone like me, from L.A. I wish I remembered the menu better, but I do recall that it wasn't that big, but it had a fairly wide range of selections. My family and I stopped here on a recent trip to see the small town big things located all over the area and decided to stop in for lunch. We've eaten at at their other owned restaurants in Terre Haute and thought we'd give this one a try. My mom and I both had the flat landers BBQ and the portions were plentiful and the BBQ had a very nice flavor to it. I had the mashed potatoes and gravy to go with and they were soft and creamy. My dad had the Italian beef and the sandwich was huge and very tasty according to him and my sister had the catfish which she said was perfectly fried. My dad and sister also had French fries which they said were very very good. I tried a few and wish I had gotten fries instead of mashed potatoes. The only reason why this gets 4 stars and not 5, was the wait seemed a bit long. We were seated immediately but seemed to take a while to get our food. Ordered a ham sandwich, 30 minutes later I'm still waiting. The place is not busy, so I think they might be curing the meat? I can't imagine this sandwich being worth a 30 minute wait. Sunday brunch for 2 = $50... That could have cost me half that price and I'd still be mad at myself for eatting what I just ate. I'm not even going to waste my time telling you how terrible the food is. The salad bar is weak but probably the best tasting thing on the entire breakfast, dinner, soup, desert spread - I love good food. Do yourself a favor and go eat something else. read more

We booked my graduation party here. We called two weeks before to make sure everything was good and they told us they had a bigger party so they booked over us. They assured us they had a small room we could use and that was the only good part about our experience with them (and the reason they get one star). Dealing with them and their pricing was a HUGE headache as they also booked out both buffets, one of which we were supposed to use. They came up with an alternative but wanted to charge us more than what was originally promised with the room we wanted to book and the buffet we wanted to use. Was visiting Casey overnight and heard good things about Richards, all justified. The salad bar had a great selection of choices, the blue cheese dressing was very good. I ordered a ribeye steak, very rare and it came perfectly cooked (or not really cooked, the best way to eat quality beef). It was delicious and my wife was sorry she hadn't the filet. Don't get me wrong, her one pound porkchop was very good and more than she could eat, but the beef was spectacular. Almost stayed an extra day just to go back for another steak. I revisited this restaurant after three years . I took a friend with me who had never been to Casey and I raved about Richards farm. Couldn't wait for him to try it. I could see a difference as soon as we were taken into the dining area. Don't get me wrong, this is a very cool building. I love it. The food, that day, was pretty awful. I had pulled pork, my friend had the patty melt. Both were extremely salty and I love salt.. but not enjoyable when it was so overwhelming. We did not complain to the nice young server or to anyone. Even the berry cobbler pie, which we thought may save the meal, had a tough crust. Dang it! Wanted to love it like I did three years ago. And as an owner of a cleaning business for more than 20 years.. everything was very clean ( ladies bathroom is awesome in every way ) except the carpet.. you have to get it cleaned or replaced. Even in the dark...it's in dire need of cleaning. We won't be back... and I'm truly sorry to say that. read more

I have driven past Casey, IL along I-70, hundreds of times. Finally decided to stop and see all the "Biggest" attractions. Very cute town. We had lunch at Richards Farm Restaurant and it was terrific. Best ham sandwich I've had in decades. My wife had the pork tenderloin, which she loved and noted how fresh the broccoli was. Very friendly service and pleasing decor. Don't stop at a fast food place by the highway, venture into town and have a really good meal! We will try to coordinate our trips so we can be in Casey at lunch time from now on. read more

Home to the World's Largest pitchfork (for other big thing enthusiasts like me... see my blog littlekarenbigthings.tumblr.com), this place is set in an old barn and is beautiful, with old wooden walls and cute wooden booths. They are known for their 1 pound pork chop which as they state is fork tender, no knife required, it just fell apart, delicious! The pulled pork burger was solid (little on the smaller side). And don't get us started on the home made waffle chips, my golly some of the best chips we've ever eaten. Followed by amazing peanut butter pie, home made (again) and light and fluffy with heaps of flavor. Lovely service and we got to play a game of checkers and buy some big things t-shirts too. We heard that this restaurant had a one pound pork chop. My weakness. We stopped in around 3 PM and found one unique restaurant. The server was friendly and helpful. They have a huge lunch and dinner menu that includes large salad bar and soup. Puddings and Bread Pudding chunks. Fresh baked breads etc. my wife had a great luncheon chicken dish. I had the pork chop that is pre-smoked then baked in a fabulous sauce. It melts in your mouth. The best I ever had. This is definitely a repeat visit location when I drive cross country. This place left such an impression on my road trip, that I'm coming back months later to write this review. My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday morning, and were greeted with very sweet staff and even sweeter locals in the dining room. We had no idea it was buffet-style, and I'm glad I didn't know about that in advance, because I usually try to avoid buffets. Let me give you some advice about this buffet- GO. RIGHT NOW. It is hands-down some of the most delicious, honest food, and I'm thinking of making a pilgrimage back here just to stuff myself Sunday morning with the locals. Don't understand the high ratings, overpriced and the food was definitely not worth the money. Very dark inside if you like it that way.

We debated eating here because it looked small and old from the outside. Once inside we were pleasantly surprised at the huge restaurant and cleverly decorated antique motifs. We were touring the worlds largest items located in Casey, IL. One was a giant pitch fork way on the edge of town. Turned out to be a restaurant there. Looked nice so when we were done with our tour of the city, right on 70, we went back. So glad that we did. An excellent choice. My wife had the ribeye and I had the pork scaloppini. Lunch food bar at Richard's is just the best. Unbeatable salad bar, bread bar, 4 selections of soup. The food bar is fresh and hot with the best meatloaf I've every experienced, mouth watering fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans with bacon, Italian sausage smothered in peppers and onions, and so much more. Stopped at this place after a long day. We were seated immediately and beverages were quickly delivered. Hubs had ribs which he pronounced as fall-off-the-bone excellent. I had pasta alfredo. We were hoping for great food at 2:30 in the afternoon, so we opted for the hot buffet, we were also on a time crunch so we thought this was a good idea. Big mistake. All of the food was empty. We took what we could get, which was not much. Then we were told the hot buffet closed at 2. Then why was ur offered. We were told it would be another 20 minutes for some chicken.
