I have been eating here since I was a kid. Always yummy! Steak sandwhich with extra sauce is my fav. And they have amazing ranch!

Went today for a Father's Day lunch, $5 coupon off the meal, a free piece of great chocolate fudge and a key ring! Both my son and I ordered the Italian Steak Hoagies with pickles, pizza sauce, sliced onions and provolone cheese. Service was very friendly, got our sandwiches after about 10 minutes. Hoagies were good as always! An order of french fries were somewhat flaccid. I have been visiting Richards for nearly three decades and have not noticed anything decidedly different with these hoagies. Always good to ask for more pizza sauce on your steak sandwiches. I would love to see one of these hoagies with mushroom sauce also available. As we came at opening at 1130, by the time we left the seating area was probably 75% full. read more

I used to live local and have been out of town for 8 years. Every time we come home we visit Richard's for a steak sandwich. We haven't had them in a few years because the quality of the beef on the sandwich had declined. We visited this weekend and the food was soooooo good. The meat on the steak sandwich was so much better and the sandwich was what I remembered from years ago. Great job getting the quality back up!!!! The pizza is also really great! Came in for a steak hoagie and spaghetti with meat sauce. They both came out amazing! Was surprised at how good it was. First time here. Service was friendly, food was coming out to all the tables fast. Only complaint my spaghetti took a while as others got their pizzas lol but was worth the wait. This is one of my husband and I's favorite places in Fairfield. You absolutely need to get their baked steak sandwich and we highly recommend the garlic knots with garlic butter. The staff is always very friendly and food is hot and fresh. This is a must if you are in the area! read more

This was our first visit to any Richard's Pizza location since we don't live in the Fairfield / Hamilton area. We were here for lunch on a hot Saturday because I wanted to give them a try. The service was 2.5 stars due to the person that took our order and also brought the food to our table gave no greeting, had no smile, nothing. I might as well have been ordering at a terminal, except it might have at least displayed Hello and Thank You. She obviously did not seem to want to be working today. We ordered an 11" pizza with 3 items. The toppings were a bit skimpy as was the cheese. The overall flavor was just ok. It would have been better had it not been a bit overcooked. I give the pizza 2.5 stars. The highlight was the Steak Sandwich. The soft garlic buttered bun was excellent - perhaps the best bun I have had for a Steak Sandwich. The meat was a thicker than average ground meat hoagie steak that was cooked perfectly. There could have been perhaps just a bit more sauce, but it was still excellent. We got it with cheese, no onion, and pickles on the side. (My wife doesn't like pickles.). The Steak Sandwich was definitely worth 5 stars. The Steak Sandwich alone made the trip worthwhile. A local pizza joint that seems overpriced for their pizza. Their pricing for a basic cheese pizza is $3-$5 more than most other ma and pa joints and it's nothing that great so I'm not sure why they charge so much. Especially if you order additional toppings...yikes! They serve steak sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes also along with their fudge. Not a big fan of these so I cannot give an honest review of those. But when it comes to pizza, you get a much better deal for your buck elsewhere. read more

My husband and I wanted to try something different so we decided to give Richards a try in Fairfield. I wasn't a fan of only one person taking orders (line out the door) and then he told me recommends the loaded fries.. very small portion and nothing special about them. We also got 1 hoagie and a small pepp pizza... way too many onions on the hoagie will only one pickle... the ratio is way off... also not enough sauce hardly at all. The pizza was ehh. Stopped in Richard's in Fairfield on Saturday for lunch. I love their steak hoagie, spaghetti, and salads but I personally don't much care for their pizza. There was only one person taking orders which was okay since there was a group of six indecisive people in front of me and nobody behind me. After waiting awhile for the group in front of me to wrap up their argument about what they were going to get, I was greeted by a pleasant counter attendant. I think she was relieved that I knew what I wanted when I got there, a steak hoagie with Romano and provolone cheese. It only took the kitchen 10 minutes to get my order to me. All but one of the unoccupied tables were clean. I was comfortable waiting for and eating my order. I don't get the opportunity to get a steak hoagie often but the next time that I am able, Richard's is where I will go to get it. read more

First of all, you have to order at counter and get your own drinks and utensils. So be aware it is not a sit down restaurant. No lemons for the water. I could live with this however but the Pizza just had no flavor. I ordered a ranch pizza and all I could taste was the onions. The place is called Richard's Pizza, but trust me, skip the pizza -- the thing to get here is the Famous Steak Sandwich, which is so beloved that they ship this sandwich all over the country to former Hamiton/Fairfield residents who dearly miss this taste of home. This sandwich is actually a steak hoagie, although the default configuration (unlike most in the area) does not include cheese, which is available at a small additional cost. This is so crazy that I probably wouldn't believe it if I hadn't experienced it. I called to place a carry out order, and the employee who answered got frustrated with me and hung up. Why was she frustrated you wonder? She was pissed that I was attempting to give her my phone number for the order. She couldn't reconcile in her confused, stressed brain that the number I was giving her didn't match her caller ID. I guess no one calls in pizza from work, right? Anyway, to get my pizza I had to call two other Richards locations and a manager called it in for me on the down low. I was incredulous and good humoresque about it at the time, but I don't think I'll return. No one attempted to compensate, and we never got a call back from a manager to apologize or anything. So this breaks my heart to give Richards a one star but customer service is huge for me and after reaching out to Richards a couple times, I never got a response back. I didn't get one piece of my order. Which is not a huge deal but I asked for a refund and never got it. I love Richards and am pretty happy with the food overall but being ignored is a pretty big deal for me. So yeah, they lost a customer over a measly $4.00 that was never refunded. I recently stopped by Richard's on our visit to Couches for plants.We stopped at Richard's for steak hoagies to go. We got home and was sadly disappointed our steak hoagies barely had any pizza sauce on them, and our other one was suppose to have mushroom sauce, it had no sauce. When we pay for our sandwiches I expect to get what I pay for. I think they need a new manager or someone who oversees the distribution of food. My wife wanted to stop in here as she has fond memories of their spaghetti when she first moved to Fairfield some 20 yrs ago. I gave in, reluctantly and we ordered carryout. She got the spaghetti casserole and I got the steak hoagie. I will say the hoagie was pretty decent, but is there a need to put a whole sliced onion on it? I don't mind a bit of onion but this was overkill. Buttered bread was good, but the spaghetti casserole was a letdown. Spaghetti and sauce, that's it. I guess baked, dunno, not sure that makes a difference. I'd stop in for a hoagie again in a pinch but otherwise I'm going elsewhere. read more

I will first start this review by saying, some of my love for this place may be due to the nostalgia factor. I remember many weekends eating Richard's with my dad when he would come to town to visit, and perhaps that is why I think so highly of it. No, it's not the best thing I've ever eaten, and it's not the first place I'd choose for dinner, even though I'm 2 minutes away from the place, but there is just something about a Richard's steak hoagie that warms my heart. I have loved watching it grow from a few small little places into a few larger sit down locations today. The smell is a familiar one, and there are some tips I would offer to a newbie. I honestly can't tell you what the regular hoagie sauce tastes like... I always order the pizza sauce and add cheese. YUM. If you like onions, then awesome, get it with onions. If you only like onions a little bit, tell them to be light with the onions or you'll end up with the equivalent of a whole onion scattered on your hoagie. They are heavy on the pickles too. Their pizza is pretty tasty, but typically everyone I talk to goes there for the hoagies so I can't really give you a serious pizza review. Now, this is sort of randomness, but holy crap, do they have something else that's amazing... FUDGE!!! They make several different flavors of fudge and they are soooooo delicious. Perfect dessert after cramming a hoagie in your face hole. NOM. When you order from Richards, keep in mind they are cooking it to order, so it's not going to be the same as going through a fast food line somewhere nearby. Oh, and the last tip, when you order a large drink.. it's a LARGE drink. I call it the bucket size. I'll always be a loyal hoagie lover at Richard's, and I've read a few times that maybe it's a local thing. I can't argue that fact, but if you're new in town, I'd still give it a try. Blahh. This place is just okay. Yes, I know it's called Richard's PIZZA- but I got the spaghetti with meat sauce. It was bland and weirdly textured for meat sauce. The pasta was a bit soggy, and overall just unimpressive. But then I took a bite of the magical bread. It was like the heavens parted and left my hopes and dreams in a tasty package of garlic bread. Okay, yes, that's a little dramatic, but seriously THIS BREAD IS AMAZING. Now, here's the real deal. I went for my cousin's husband's birthday party. I never felt like I had any reason to go there when I actually lived in Fairfield...because there was Cassano's. So if you're trying to get a good pizza at a local joint that is not LaRosa's, and you happen to be in Fairfield, think twice before choosing Richard's. A group I meet with got together at Richard's tonight for a club meeting, and we had a great time. As always, Richard's pizza had outstanding flavor. I'm learning, though, that in its richness, it's very high in cholesterol. That said, the white pizza is insanely good. As compared with the Richard's on Main St. in Hamilton, this one has a nice meeting room setup that isn't present in other stores. This Richard's is in the building that used to house Pusch's restaurant once upon a time, which gives them a good bit of space to work with. They have an open room area in the back that can be divided up into two meeting rooms, each with a 42" or larger TV mounted that can apparently be used either as a TV, or for displaying a presentation, since it has HDMI inputs. Being Monday night, they weren't super-busy, but we had speedy service. With 21 people in the group, they did a good job of keeping our orders straight, getting them out fast, and hot. Definitely a great place to get together if you're into some good za. Something I hadn't noticed before at Richard's is their fudge. They had their fudge on display, and they had some interesting flavors. I didn't get a chance to try them, but I definitely will on a future visit. read more

I've never had anything other than their pizza and fudge. It's not the best pizza ever, but it's really good I prefer it over LaRosas and they are a big step up from the usual pizza chains. Their not stingy with the ingredients either, you get a bit of everything in every bite. Their fudge is good too, they have different varieties and you get a nice size piece. read more

If your family thinks you can't cry or if you want to see if that new mouth wash is really industrial strength - this is your go to spot. In reading the other reviews I think it is clear - Richard's hoagies are the best steak hoagies in all of Hamilton/Fairfield and the rest of the world, if you have only traveled as far as Middletown. I used to frequent Richards when I lived in that area. I cant get anything like this where I live so I decided to order frozen. I was disappointed and won't order again. Bread was mushy from the sauce on bottom bun. Onions are frozen and when thawed they shrivel in size as tho halfway cooked but cold. The Good: Pizza was loaded with meat, Dough is decent. The Cons: Salad was a good size but way over priced for what it was. Bread sticks tasted like yesterdays leftovers. I dearly love a Richard's steak sandwich. So does my husband. My daughter that lives out of town knows this and gave my husband a coupon from Richards for $25 for his birthday. I went to pick up the steak sandwiches and they refused my coupon... They didn't know how to use it!! It took many phone calls and many discussions before someone on the phone somewhere told them how to verify the coupon. The coupon still had $11 on it after they accepted the coupon. Just last week I ask my husband to stop by with the coupon and get steak sandwiches again. 25 minutes he waited through the manager trying to figure how to redeem the coupon. I have to preface his entry with saying, I never got the chance to try the food. With that being said, I will describe my experience and let you be the judge on whether it was helpful or not. I wanted a Greek salad, but didn't want to travel far to ge it. Richards is close to my house so I went there after checking thier online menu to make sure they have what I want. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken. On impulse, I also ordered a 16" pizza with extra cheese to my kids. The total came to $29.??. I was quite surprised! $30 for a salad and one pizza?!? I looked on the menu and sure enough a 16" pizza with one topping is $18.25. This was a lot more than I wanted to spend for an impulse buy, so I told him to forget the pizza and just give me the salad. I was told my total was $9.49. According to thier menu my total should have been $8.24 + tax. I thought that was a little high, but I just paid it because I really wanted that salad. He asked me if I wanted my receipt and I told him no, because I didn't think I needed it. Big mistake....I waited 15 minutes for my salad, got it and went home. I took it out of the bag and noticed ham and cheddar cheese. I bagged it back up, got back in my car and went back. At that point, I didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes for what I really wanted, so I just asked for my money back. They were apologetic and gave me a refund. I ordered ONE thing and they totally mess it up. I went down the street a block and visited one of your competitors. A local place, not a chain. Ordered the same Greek salad AND that 16" pizza with extra cheese and my total came to $18.?? . I could have become a regular customer, but your competitor got my $$$ instead. So sad. read more
