    Baked steak sandwich
    Samantha J.

This is one of my husband and I's favorite places in Fairfield. You absolutely need to get their baked steak sandwich and we highly recommend the garlic knots with garlic butter. The staff is always very friendly and food is hot and fresh. This is a must if you are in the area!

My husband and I wanted to try something different so we decided to give Richards a try in Fairfield. I wasn't a fan of only one person taking orders (line out the door) and then he told me recommends the loaded fries.. very small portion and nothing special about them. We also got 1 hoagie and a small pepp pizza... way too many onions on the hoagie will only one pickle... the ratio is way off... also not enough sauce hardly at all. The pizza was ehh. The best part of it all was the garlic herb sauce and their ranch. I doubt we will come back but glad we gave it a try.

The place is called Richard's Pizza, but trust me, skip the pizza -- the thing to get here is the Famous Steak Sandwich, which is so beloved that they ship this sandwich all over the country to former Hamiton/Fairfield residents who dearly miss this taste of home. This sandwich is actually a steak hoagie, although the default configuration (unlike most in the area) does not include cheese, which is available at a small additional cost. The roll, the patty, the ultra-thin sliced onions, and the sauce are all a notch or two above what you get on a typical steak hoagie, and the whole thing comes together as one of the best in the area The current location is about a mile south of the original location, and this new location has a lot more dining space, plenty of parking, and a drivethru window Recommended

Super friendly and fast staff. The pizza is pretty unexceptional, although they do have interesting toppings.

We ordered the food through DoorDash so, no notes on the ambiance…read more We got a 10'' Philly cheesesteak and a bowl of spicy broccoli cheese soup. It was plenty for my husband and me to share. The soup is what drew me in. I love broccoli cheese soup. This soup is...unique. It's either going to be my favorite soup in the world or I'll never have it again. I haven't decided yet. The spice tastes like pickled jalapeños you'd get with stadium nachos. I'll revisit it since there was a ton of it. The sandwich was amazing. Great crispy bread that wasn't tough. It's hard to find one that does both. Meat was great and well seasoned. We got the tip dip (au jus) to dip it in and that was great. We will definitely be eating here again.

I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, and unfortunately it tasted awful. The chicken salad itself wasn't good, with very large chunks of onion that completely overpowered the flavor. The shop also only offers one type of bread--white--which made the sandwich feel even more plain. Overall, the presentation looked sloppy and the taste was very disappointing. I always like to support local sandwich shops and spread a little love when I can, but this experience just didn't work for me. Sadly, I don't see myself coming back.
