I requested an estimate through Yelp, and Steve responded within an hour. He offered to come out the next morning to give me a quote. I have found his estimate to be very reasonable. Since he does not seem to have a website, I went to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries website. I was able to verify he is licensed for plumbing and his license is current. I'm now in the process of scheduling an appointment with him to get the repair done. I hired Richards Plumbing based upon good reviews but I was very dissatisfied! He put a new part under the kitchen sink to stop a leak but the leak continued (wrong part said a different plumber who fixed the leak). When I asked him to remove/replace the anode rod on the hot water tank, he told me the tank didn't allow him to do that. After two hours, with the tank's manufacturer on the phone, he found the outlet which was 'hiding in plain site' but charged me for the two hours of waiting despite what seemed to me to be a carefully crafted 'senior dodge.' read more

Steve helped us back in March when our water heater broke unexpectedly and flooded our bathroom floor. He came right away to help us out and ordered and installed our new water heater. He also installed a pan and a drain that flowed out through our crawl space so we'd be protected if something like this should ever happen again. He also helped us swap out our very old toilet for a new HE toilet. Steve is friendly, knowledgable, and affordable. I called to schedule an estimate for a full repipe of my home. I was told they might be able to come out the next day, but might not be until the following week. That was 10 days ago, and I haven't heard a peep from them. If they didn't want the business, or it was out of their scope, they should have just said so and been done with it. Steve is great. He's done some work for is previously and we have been very satisfied. But this morning we found only tepid water from the faucets. I guess with all the wind, the pilot went out in the water heater. I tried to light it myself but the wall braces covered the instructions. Go figure! And since both gas and electricity problems humble and scare me, I called Steve. Steve walked me through the process over the phone and saved me a service fee as well as saving himself some time. Our homeowners insurance policy recommended them and he came out and said he couldn't do the job and was very rude to my brother who had ptsd. He called another company that came out professionally and did the work and when Richards called back and my brother said he already got the job done Richards reported our house to a home inspector office and now we have a lot of red tape to go through. We recently moved into a house where the valve that controlled the water supply to the refrigerator was stuck closed. I called Steve early in the morning to schedule a time he could come by and he was able to be here before noon. In a few minutes after arriving he opened the valve which enable the ice maker and cold water dispenser on the refrigerator to work! And the price was VERY reasonable!!! Good man! read more

Steve did the job quickly and did so without having to replace another piece which saved having to drain the hot water tank. He also showed me how to use an electric fireplace in my bedroom which hadn't been used since I bought this home a year ago. Price was reasonable, not overly cheap, but less than what other plumbing companies would have charged. Plus he took less time to see me when other companies would have made me continue without hot water for more than what I preferred. Highly recommended. read more
