First class service! Highly recommend! A while ago I bought a used car and the following day I had to drive with it from Rutland to Dummerston to drop my kids off at different schools. Driving on the 91 the car started to make some strange rattling noise but I still had to drop off the kids. As soon as I dropped them off, I called several mechanics and Richmond Auto Repair, upon hearing my concern and having to go back to Rutland with the kids that evening, offered to look at the car right away. They managed to squeeze me into their busy schedule and fixed my car within less than an hour. I'm incredibly grateful for their quick help and for ensuring that I could get back home with my kids safely. There haven't been any issues with the car since. Excellent service! Wonderful people! This is the best repair shop We've ever brought our vehicle to. Doug and his crew provide a top notch service, at fair rates. The owner handles all of the customer interaction - he's very down-to-earth and easy to understand, and has a very personable nature. His guys are very efficient, meaning we have our vehicle back on the road as soon as possible. He always tells us straight whether something really needs to be addressed or not, saving us from unnecessary repairs like our pesky engine light that isn't safety or performance related. The best. Five stars, no question. We've been lucky enough to live within walking distance of Richmond Auto Repair for over eight years. Doug has kept our random assortment of American-made beaters and newer Subarus running smoothly and safely. This is one of those rare garages that gets it right the first time *every* time. They're located about a mile and a half out of Bratt by the Guilford Country Store, which is a great place to grab lunch, sit, read, use wi-fi etc. while you wait. When I finally leave this hippie-infested cow country, there will be a couple of things I'll truly miss and Richmond Auto Repair will be one of them. Most honest mechanic I've been to. Always give you an honest and straight-forward assessment of what they think needs to be done and what can wait and for how long. They don't jack you on parts either. I've come out of this place more than a couple times paying much, much less than I estimated going in. Hourly labor rate is a bit steep but not ridiculously so, and well, well worth it as this place will never sell you on a repair or service you don't need and will give you a fair price on parts. read more

There are few people I trust without reservation in my life, Doug is one. I know he always acts in my best interest and his mechanics always do fabulous work. I've owned about 40 cars as a driver, racer, collector, parent of grown children. I've always done almost all of my own work and have never really had any great experiences with a mechanic or dealership. Until Doug. On referral from a very adamant and trustworthy friend, I went to Doug. I knew right away, all would be well. And it was. I don't even ask how much? As I know it will be right, and fair. I'm now in 2 pretty large jobs with Doug, and they both far exceeded my expectations, and were exactly, or far less than what I expected to pay. Adjectives that describe Doug would be: humble, honest, calm, trustworthy, of integrity, kind, well spoken, inspiring, caring, friendly, more......... Doug is the mechanic you'd also want as your best friend. Or vice versa. And no, I didn't grow up with him. I have taken my car to Richmond Auto every time I've needed something, and I have yet to be disappointed. From oil changes to exhaust chain problems, a faulty starter and a fuel pump failure, head gaskets on my partner's car, every time the issue is taken care of and diagnosed, with as good of a price tag as I've been able to find in my eight years here.
