I had a very positive experience working with Richmond Ford West and, specifically, Derrick Pulliam in the purchase of my Ford Bronco Sport.

While I was at the dealership, my personal vehicle was hit in the parking lot. When I called to ask if management could review the security cameras, I was repeatedly told that no manager with camera access was available and that someone would call me back. I made three separate phone calls over several days and never received a callback. By the following Wednesday, I went to the dealership in person and was finally told by a manager that there are no cameras facing the front parking lot where the incident occurred. Had someone simply provided that information during my first call, it would have saved me several days of frustration and wasted time. While the sales experience was positive, the lack of communication and follow-through from management regarding this situation was disappointing. Better customer service and timely responses would have made a significant difference.

Review of the Service Department…read more I'll start with the one positive: the pricing for factory-recommended maintenance services was lower than what I've seen at Flow Charlottesville. Unfortunately, that was the only aspect of my experience that stood out favorably. Customers should pay close attention to any additional services recommended beyond the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance intervals. I would strongly encourage anyone visiting this service department to review their vehicle's factory maintenance schedule beforehand and carefully evaluate any suggested add-ons. During my visit, I was presented with approximately $1,000 in additional recommended services and repairs. While some items may have had merit, several appeared significantly overpriced. For example, I was quoted roughly $800 for tires. After doing some comparison shopping, I was able to purchase and install name-brand tires from another reputable local shop for approximately $430. One recommendation that particularly raised concerns was the replacement of a battery tray. I was quoted $187 for the repair and told that the condition could cause the vehicle to fail Virginia state inspection. After researching Virginia inspection requirements, I was unable to find any specific guideline indicating that a loose battery tray alone would automatically result in a failed inspection. While inspection interpretations can vary depending on the circumstances, the explanation provided felt questionable and came across more as a sales tactic than a clear safety concern. My overall impression was that the service department places a strong emphasis on upselling additional repairs and services. As with any dealership service department, I recommend reviewing all recommendations carefully, obtaining a second opinion when appropriate, and comparing prices before authorizing non-routine work.

This was my first visit to a Tesla dealership. The dealership wasn't the cleanest I've seen, but…read moreoverall, it offered friendly customer service. Perhaps it was a bit messy because it was the end of the day. We arrived for a 6 pm appointment, and it was so busy that the Tesla agent, Trey, couldn't get to us for 30 minutes. He was incredibly helpful! I had heard before visiting that the service is quick, but perhaps because it was the end of the month, it was busier than usual. Once the agent arrived, after approximately a 30-minute wait, the service was quick and smooth! They did exactly what they said, and we left the dealership satisfied with our experience. I hope the service request will be faster and more efficient for our customers. By the way, the auto-buying process is simple because Tesla agents do not make commissions on selling cars, so they are not pushy or annoying.  I wouldn't recommend picking up a vehicle in the evenings, as the agents are usually tired and running out of energy.  Tesla cars are mostly reasonably priced and considered to be of excellent quality. They are the new iPhones of the automobile industry. I hope to return to this Tesla again someday soon!

Note: I'm not blaming anyone, but buyers should know that seeing a 0.99% APR advertisement or…read morehearing promises from Tesla employees means nothing unless it's actually approved in writing. Don't pay a non-refundable fee based on what you're told. Learn from my mistake. I visited the Tesla dealership in Richmond to compare the Model Y base and Model Y Premium. The salesperson showed me the financing offers on the app and website and repeatedly assured me that with a credit score above 720, I would qualify for 0.99% APR on the Premium model. Based on those assurances and being told rates could increase after June, I paid the non-refundable reservation fee and applied. Tesla's own documents show my credit score is 736, and my income is more than sufficient, yet I was offered nearly 11% APR. After multiple calls and transfers between departments, I was simply told that financing depends on more than just credit score. If that's the case, why wasn't that explained before I was encouraged to pay a non-refundable fee based on repeated promises that I would qualify for 0.99%? Even the Sales Manager in Richmond only said, "I'm sorry if that's what happened, but I've never received a complaint like this from my team." This has been, by far, the worst car-buying experience I've ever had. I expected transparency and honesty, but instead I made a financial commitment based on terms that were repeatedly presented and assured, only to receive something completely different.

Had been looking online for the perfect truck…read moreand I found it at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Buick in Richmond Virginia, about an hour and twenty minute drive for me. So the process started, selected the truck online and got the loan started. My sales rep Dan, called me with some good news and some bad news. The good news was the loan was approved, the bad new was the truck I applied for was sold. However, there was one just like it (except for the color) was just unloaded off a train in Petersburg and was on the way to the lot. As soon as the vehicle was on the lot, Dan texted my pictures, I Loved the way it looked and had all I needed. So I set up a time to get with Dan to take it for a spin. When I arrived at Rick Hendrick, Dan was parking the vehicle out front for me to drive. After the drive, decided that we wanted to purchase it, Dan went right to work. He got the truck prep then took my over to the business office to sign the deal. I met with Robert, who had a state of the art signing board, which meant you didn't walk out with a bunch of paper, but everything downloaded to a thumb-drive. I really liked that. Robert than took me on a tour of the dealership, showing me the service department, collision center, parts and gave me a few parting gifts to keep the truck looking good. This dealership was amazing, professional and was state of the art! I was thinking, that I would drive an hour for service, yes it was that amazing! Highly recommend buying your next vehicle at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet Buick! You will not be let down! Happing Yelping!

The oil change alone came out to over $200 -- significantly more than any other shop in the area. And that was before they tried to pressure me into four additional services totaling thousands of dollars, none of which were recommended or even mentioned in my owner's manual. This wasn't an honest mistake. This was a deliberate attempt to take advantage of a customer. To make matters worse, I was charged $250 for a diagnostic fee on a separate issue -- one that their technicians could not duplicate after less than five minutes of troubleshooting. Five minutes. $250. They did nothing, found nothing, and still had the audacity to charge me for it. When I asked to speak with someone about waiving the fee, I was directed to Donnie Atkins -- the line manager and the person who is supposed to be the face of customer service at this dealership. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he was rude, combative, and completely unwilling to have a reasonable conversation. If this is the standard of leadership here, it explains everything about how this service department operates. This dealership will overcharge you, recommend services you don't need, charge you for work they didn't do, and treat you poorly when you push back. Go anywhere else.

I come from a family of VW owners, I even went to the original Woodstock and a micro bus with my parents. That said it is because of the experience with this and other Volkswagen dealers that we have decided to sell all 4 of our families VWs. Never again will any of us drive a VW solely based on the fact that the mechanics and the service department are completely clueless and seemingly dishonest. I wish I had a fraction of the tens of thousands of dollars I have wasted at the dealership for them to tell me that they're fixing problems only to find out that there was no problem or that they didn't fix the right problem at all. We have lost complete faith in west broad Volkswagen and pretty much all Volkswagen dealers ability to solve even simple problems like fixing an air conditioner. It's really sad because I've always loved the brand and I Have had absolute brand loyalty going back to the 60s and they just don't know what they're doing and you end up with cars they literally cannot be fixed. I've got two Volkswagens right now that I have paid probably $10,000 between the two of them to have Repaired over and over and they just are stealing from me at this point and are still broken. I don't know that they're dishonest so much as they are completely incompetent. I'm gonna move onto brands where they actually have qualified mechanics that know how to repair the cars that they sell. It's been a good run VW but I'm tired of hemorrhaging money on incompetence.
