Long time used land rover owner, finally decided to give up my 2006 LR3 and get a LR4. We drove several different years and packages from michigan, ohio, Pennsylvania and finally virginia. Started in Virginia Beach and decided to head to Richmond. When greeted by the first salesman moments after stepping out of our car I felt the angst of what was about to be a pressured sales experience. I was so ooooo wrong. We were greeted kindly by Sam Cates. He commented on our LR3, asked some questions about what exactly I was looking for. He copied our licenses and off we went for what started as our three hours of test driving and discussions. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about Land Rover as a brand, and was kind of impressed I knew my stuff too! Not once was he condescending (we are pretty young), and he was so accomodating. We took time away from the dealership for lunch and a regroup and returned to purchase the 2016 LR4. Financing was a breeze, nothing was a hassle, everything from start to finish felt good. I took my Jaguar into the Richmond service department due to a recall notice I received directly from Jaguar. In addition to the recall, my dashboard was displaying an "SOS System" error. After dropping off my vehicle, I received a call from the service advisor the next day. He told me the recall-related system update had been completed and that the SOS error was resolved as a result of the update--implying that no further work was needed. Great, or so I thought. When I picked up my vehicle, I was shocked to see a $250 charge on my bill for an "SOS system diagnostic." I questioned this, especially since the advisor had explicitly told me over the phone that the issue had been resolved by the recall update. His story changed immediately. He now claimed they did the diagnostic before performing the update--something he absolutely did not mention on the phone. Then he backtracked again, saying they had to be cautious and do the diagnostic first in case the update caused further issues. That's not only contradictory--it makes no sense. I told him again: the update fixed the issue, you said no additional action was needed, and I was never told about any charge. His final excuse? "Well, the tech has to be paid for his time." That's not how recall work operates. By federal law, recall repairs must be provided free of charge on cars up to 15 years old. My car is only 8. I was never informed there would be a charge, never given a chance to approve or decline it, and the issue resolved itself with the recall update. Charging $250 for something that didn't need diagnosing--after telling me it was already fixed--is dishonest and unacceptable. This experience was incredibly disappointing. The lack of transparency and shifting explanations from the service advisor made it clear that customer trust and fair pricing are not priorities here. I expected better from Jaguar. I won't be returning to this service center again, and I urge others to get everything in writing before agreeing to anything here. read more

Let me start by saying I love my Range Rover, but I'll never take it to Land Rover Richmond (Midlothian) again. Recently, I brought my truck in because the horn stopped working. Very important to fix... but I felt bad bringing it in for something so small, so I asked them to change the spark plugs at the same time so they could make a few bucks. $500 to change the spark plugs. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with the horn and charged me to replace the horns with new OEMs. Still didn't work, so they gave up. WHAT?!? They mentioned "because your car is more than 10 years old, we can't warrantee any of the work we do". WTF?!? So a place that's supposed to be filled with Range Rover experts doesn't have any Range Rover experts on site? Story gets worse. They called me and said they spotted a coolant leak. Mind you, I saw ZERO evidence of a coolant leak where we park. Never a single leak in years. But, I paid them $1500 anyway to change a coolant line (highway robbery) as a precaution. A few days later, my 16-yo daughter got stranded due to overheating! In essence, I paid Land Rover $1500 to give me a dangerous problem I didn't already have. I never should have let these ppl touch my car. I got the repairs needed elsewhere at a reputable shop with real mechanics and had to laugh at how unskilled the mechanics at Land Rover must be these days. What a shame. In my experience, Land Rover Richmond is filled with "worky tickets" who pad your bill with unnecessary work while causing problems you didn't have so they can maximize profit. Guess it doesn't matter to Land Rover Richmond if they endanger their drivers. Shame on them. read more

Absolutely horrible especially for this level of vehicle. My husband and I were greeted outside by Derek King the salesman. He asked us to come and sit down at his desk and discuss what we were looking for. He did everything in his will to satisfy us and work with us on buying the SUV that we were looking for. He kept running back-and-forth and back-and-forth and back-and-forth to the manager who never once appeared to greet us to ask us, ask what we were looking for or how he could help. We were so done with the dealership that when we we left, we knew that was not the place for us. Derek did everything he could to make this sale and we would've absolutely bought from him if the manager had seemed interested in selling a vehicle to us that day. The sales room was empty. There was no one there and that also gave us a very uncomfortable feeling. Within 24 hours we had purchased another car and I must say Absolutely horrible experience! Went to buy a Range Rover with every intention of walking out with what I was looking for. The poor salesman did everything he could to help us out, but the manager was absent. Never talked to us. Wouldn't give us an appraisal on turning our car in on a new Range Rover or what was available to purchase. He didn't answer any of these questions. The poor salesman kept running back-and-forth and back-and-forth. We were left sitting for 15min or more each time.That salesman is no longer with them. The night we walked out the door, so did he. I am disappointed because I had been really looking forward to getting a Range Rover after all these years. Instead I turned my BMW in for another. I told BMW what I was looking for and within 24 hrs they had it trucked in from Baltimore and drove it to my house! I was advised by Land Rover that there was a markup on all vehicles over sticker price. I was told that the sticker price on the car is not the right price because they will mark it up. I was told that all LR dealerships were on board with that. I was told that people are going to buy them regardless of the price. When I first got to the lot a sales lady gave me her card and left, she left the car open so I could look around. I never saw Monique again. read more

So on today I called to obtain assistance with getting my vehicle serviced, ie; tune up oil change fluids topped off. I spoke with "Jeff" in the service department and gave him the year, make and model of my vehicle. To my distaste, I was advised that the owner took a stance not to work on vehicles under 2013 ( your product and don't wanna work on it because of the age) ok. So I repeated back to him what he said just to make sure I heard him correctly, and he hung up on me!! Really...is this how we treat customers???? Interesting to say the least, so I call back and asked the receptionist to connect me to the manager of this location and was connected to "John"...ok strange but anyway, I explained to him what happened and he was apologetic to say the least and assured me that he would go back and listen to the call. Moral of the the story, if you don't like to deal with the public and those who chose to purchase your product, then stand behind it and take pride in it regardless of the established date of the product. I've been really trying to give this dealership a chance but every time I come here there's something. Not only do I suddenly have a $1200 oil leak after coming here 6 months ago but now they charge $7.00 to top off windshield wiper fluid, which wasn't added to my bill before and no one in the building seemed to know if this was a new add on because they charged me 2 oil changes ago... go figure!! Then they make me sign documents declining previous suggestions from my last visit, today. Please check your receipts, keep copies of everything and make sure before they do anything to your vehicle that requires you to pay that they ask first. Hidden prices... scamming us!! Now I'm forced to go to another dealership I trust to do a once over on my vehicle to ensure they didn't compromise it in order for me to come back. read more

1. GET SOME LOANER VEHICLES! What's the problem - are you on a shoe string budget after I paid tens of THOUSANDS on a RR Evoque? Every other dealership on the planet has them. 2. Zero customer service level - increasingly rude, unhelpful & dismissive while I had to walk 1.2 miles in 90 degree temperatures (and no crosswalks bec it's Richmond ..) to rent a car ($200) for 3 days while my broken wheel bearings (on an Evoque that has never been driven off road or over curbs/potholes & has UNDER 25,000 MILES on it) gets fixed because they DON'T HAVE LOANER CARS. This was a pretty disappointing trip. The vehicles, of course, are beautiful, but they don't really "perform." Not after driving an Audi Q7 and a Mercedes AMG! They just don't compare. Style-wise, they rank 10, however! During my test drive, the brand new 2020 actually cut off while we were driving! It started back up, and thankfully, the dealership was just a block away. By the time we got there, we were smelling radiator fluid. That certainly didn't encourage me to be a buyer. To top it off, our sales person wasn't very knowledgeable at all--wasn't certain about price, options, and just couldn't answer several questions--and he's supposedly been in the business 20+ years. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE We purchased a vehicle and traded one in AUGUST 26th. Today is Sept 7th. I just talked to the lender in which my loan was with as my payments are still coming out for the TRADED in vehicle. Lender told me that payments will continue to come out until they receive payment from the dealer. Which 2 WEEKS later they still have not. Which means within 3 weeks I will have 1 of my new vehicles payments, and 2 of my old one. Totalling almost 1100$. We phoned to speak with finance manager, and the GM yesterday at 3pm and we're told they were in a meeting. We have still yet to hear from either one to come up with a solution before my next payment comes out on Monday. Who the hell (normal people) has an extra 1000$ laying around after paying their mortgage? I will be in over draft and this dealership will be responsible for the fees and reimbursement as they did not have their paperwork organized. My dad has worked at dealers in service all my life and he is SHOCKED that they have my vehicle listed FOR SALE when there is still a lien on it. Outrageous prices for service. Over $200 for an oil change. That's just robbery. The customer service is nonexistent.

All these reviews are true. I left from getting a battery change, which was $750, yea, that's right, $750, with a coolant leak. Never had one before, no coolant on the garage floor, and Land Rover "located" one while replacing my battery. So they say they topped off my coolant, I picked up my car and drove it home 1 mile, parked it in the garage, and when I started it the next day, the battery light came on with low coolant warning. I called Land Rover to explain. Guess what their response was? "We told you there was a leak, but you denied service." He said the leak will get worse and worse. Recall, no coolant leaked out, and they said they topped it off. Are they sabotaging the cars for more service? If they are charging $750 to replace a battery when the highest price I could identify online shows a high end cost of $560, then why do they need to sabotage cars? Checked with my sister-in-law and they had the same scenario at this location. Never never never going back, and recommend you don't either. Shameful! And nothing higher than 2 stars for the past 3 years should give them some indication. read more

Land Rover Richmond is now Jaguar Land Rover Richmond, now that the Hyman Brothers acquired the Richmond Jaguar dealership. I took an older Jaguar in for service, parts were on back-order so they let the car sit out. By the time I got it back the heat had caused the headliner to separate and fall. Jaguar basically said "Not our problem" BUT the service manager 'Herb' told me that, although he couldn't pay for a new headliner, since I was such a 'good customer' he wanted to help me out. By the time I got the headliner repaired and delivered the receipts, 'Herb the service manager' went back to being the 'Herb the parts manager' and the NEW service manager basically told me "Not our problem" and was not going to help out. I eventually spoke with someone named Matt Bigelow. I had to explain the story all over AGAIN, AND while I was at it I told him, about sloppy repairs at the Jaguar-recommended Hyman Brothers Body Shop. He said he would try to help. I did eventually get a check in the mail to help cover the cost of the new headliner, but no response with help from the body shop (both the Jaguar dealership and the Body shop are owned by the Hyman Brothers). The last time I called for service, I was told that Jaguar was no longer servicing cars as old as mine - unless I had some kind of special exemption granted by the service manager. I was even told to go elsewhere! As a collector of vehicles, I would think long and hard about buying anything from Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond or anything owned by the Hyman Brothers. It seems like they are happy to take your money, but if you run into trouble, it's not their problem. I ended up taking my Jaguar to Midlothian BMW, where I have all my BMWs serviced. They had technicians familiar with Jaguar vehicles and where happy to take care of me immediately. I love my old Jaguar, but I would never considering buying anything from Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond or anything owned by the Hyman Brothers. read more

Sexism is alive and well. To the finance manager -- if you're reading this, the reason you're getting ANY stars is because my experience with Ron from sales was splendid. He's a kind soul, was very patient and took the time to explain features of the model, warranties, etc. But finance monster, those minus 3 stars are for you. After mocking my credit score in the lobby in front of my family, making copious condescending comments, and seeing my mother treated the same, it was clear that this man would never respect either of us. The minute my father arrived, he changed his tune, and suddenly found his manners. The car also had a leaky tire, but Jeff from service took care of it and worked me in the same day, which was really appreciated. And again, Ron was dope. But as a first time car buyer, this was supposed to be a really exciting day. Instead it just rang true that some men will never respect women, and even worse some men really find joy in mocking them. Find Jeff and Ron, Steer clear of the finance guy. Unless you're willing to walk in with a wad of hundies to personally shove into his boxers, or you're an old white dude, I can't promise he'll be nice to you. read more

I purchased my Range Rover sport in Chantilly VA. I purchased new in 2008 and yes she is up there in age but I still love the ride and body style. I moved to central VA in 2017 and began having it serviced at the Midlothian dealer. They are by far the most professional team I have meet to date. Herb is my service advisor and I just love seeing the smile on his face when I have my vehicle serviced. Fast, friendly and efficient. While I've not had any unscheduled issues I have had the privilege to have all of my regularly scheduled maintenance done here. I live in Newport News and they come pick up my Range Rover and leave me one in the meantime. The advisors are always knowledgeable and clear what needs to be done both now and upcoming. I couldn't ask for a better experience. On only one occasion so far did I drive up to Midlothian for service and the experience was just as amazing. I was warmly welcomed. They had a clean, comfortable waiting area which was fully stocked with refreshments. There was a large screen TV playing quietly with the remote easily accessible, however it was more fun to chat with the couple of other owners about their adventures than to watch the TV. The only caution is if you you choose to visit in person be prepared to be tempted by all the amazing new models. I desperately wanted to take home the Range Rover extended Autobiography. It's almost time to get a new one but I've only got 100,000 miles on mine so far. read more

Land Rover of Richmond Saved the Day! I think if a review is too long that people tend to stop reading. The problem is I have a long story, and want to point out how amazing Land Rover of Richmond was. We live in northern Virginia and decided to purchase a 2021 Range Rover. We found one at a local dealer (not Richmond) and went in prepared to work out a deal. Unfortunately the dealer seemed disinterested in making a deal with us and gave us the runaround for several days. Frustrated I reached out to their sister dealer (another dealer in NoVa) and asked their sales manager if we could make the deal for the vehicle we wanted and have him transfer it to their sister dealership. After some back and forth they finally secured the vehicle. We came in the next day, traded our 2021 BMW 750 and picked up our brand new 2021 Range Rover. The first 6 days were amazing. The truck drove beautifully, the features were great and we generally had no complaints. On the 7th day my wife was driving 55+ MPH down the road when all of the alert lights come on, the power steering stopped working and my wife nearly crashed. Fortunately we made it home, contacted the dealer and they sent a flat bed to come out and tow our truck in. We proceeded to spend the next week waiting for the dealer to find the issue with our brand new Rover. In the end they identified a bad pin out on one of the electric component chassis. They resolved the issue, and we re-picked up our Rover a week later, cautious but hopeful. Four days later we started noticing some squeaking when driving and then as if the car was pulling or the alignment was off. We immediately made an appointment and drove an hour to the dealer to have them look at. The dealer heard the issue immediately, and we proceeded to stand outside (with my 7 year old who has an autoimmune disease) in 95+ degree weather while they took it to the shop to resolve the problem. Ultimately they came back and said that they thought it was the brakes and that there had been a breakdown due to a liquid, likely from a car wash, that had caused a chemical decomposition of the brake pads. Uh. Ok. Unfortunately they didn't have brake pads (seems like a common thing to have in stock for a service center) so they sent us home with promises to resolve the issue. So at this point I've spent 120K on a brand new truck that I had owned for 3 weeks but only had in my garage for 1. We had experienced two safety related issues and were growing generally uncomfortable with continuing to be in this specific truck. We reached out to the management of the dealer and made it known that we wanted then to find us a comparable vehicle and give us that instead (and that we'd pay the difference). The dealer called us back and told us we could come pick up our original trade and they'd just rescind the deal. Of course this was after 15 emails, 20 phone calls and every escalation you could think of. We went and picked up our BMW and drove home, disappointed but also somewhat relieved to be rid of the lemon that we had been sold. A day later I reached out to two or three dealers, one of them being Land Rover of Richmond. I explained my situation and asked if they'd be willing to work with us, with the understanding that we'd have to work out the parameters of the deal from afar as Richmond is several hundred miles from where we live. Matt emailed me back within minutes and apologized for our experience and then asked if he contact me the following day because he wanted to help us. Matt called the next day and we completed what was probably the easiest and stress free purchase/trade I've ever done (and we've bought A LOT of cars). Matt was professional, courteous and delivered. We drove down the following day, traded our 750 (again) and then picked up our second new Range Rover. Our experience with the new Rover has been everything you'd expect it to be. Amazing truck. Love everything about it, have no complaints. Matt called me a few days later just to check up and see how things were going, truly exceptional customer service. I'll take the trip to Richmond next time I'm in the market, simply out of loyalty. read more

Excellent customer service, took my 2013 LR4, that I bought in Texas, in for VA state inspection, was able to self schedule quickly and easily on-line. Forgot to ask them about some scratches on the back of my car, swung by while I was driving thru Midlothian. They quickly took care of the scratches and gave my car a much needed wash. The Service Dept at Land Rover Midlothian is outstanding...period. Most dealerships only get part of the equation right- new auto sales. However, the entire service staff- from the service managers to the automotive technicians, offer excellent service above and beyond auto sales. Their service technician, Richard H., works on my Rover whenever I bring it in and now I specifically request him whenever my truck requires service or inspection. Service was deplorable! I asked them to detail my truck when I dropped it off for my 45,000 tune up, they smiled and said that it wouldn't be a problem. I return a few days later and the truck isn't detailed! I ask why wasn't the truck detailed , and they began bickering with me, stating that I never requested it, and why can't I just leave my car there for a few more days since it had already been there getting service?!?!?!?!? That was their logic stream- I let them know that I didn't have that luxury to leave my car any longer. The service man said he would call me early next week to set something up- I haven't heard from him since! I will NEVER return to that store, and when I do upgrade my range in a year or two I will go to the location in VA beach, where they appreciate business. read more

st week I went to the Land Rover dealership with the intent to purchase of 2015 Land Rover Evoque. I brought my father to share in the experience of buying my first ever new vehicle ( typically purchase used). For months I saved, culminating in this special day. Everything from the initial visit to test drive went off without a hitch. The price is non negotiable, which was fine, and I got out my checkbook (preferred not to finance). I was told that the car would be gassed up and cleaned and the next step was signing some paper work. Unfortunately, for the next hour and a half my dad and I sat there without a hint of an update. We decided to take a walk and noted that the car hadn't been touched by the person cleaning the car. Dejected, I looked at my dad and we left. The story has a happy ending and that last night I purchased a brand new Ford Explorer from Richmond Ford Lincoln. The experience was so professional and thoughtful that we also purchased a Ford C Max hybrid. Of course I had to finance this time, and it did take some time to purchase two new vehicles and trade in my minivan ,however,my sales person (Jessica Donovan and manager Jose Avila) was with me every step of the way and stayed there until 1030pm to make sure all of my needs were met. I don't mean this review to suggest that Land Rover wasn't nice or professional for 90% of the process, but sitting there for an hour and a half was somewhat disappointing. read more

We have been Rover owners for 20 years and love the brand. However, the 'nickel and diming', the poor technical quality and finally now, the unbelieveably poor service at Land Rover of Richmond has resulted in our decision to never own another Rover again. I bought an LR4 (which I loved) here but it was fraught with issues - most of which never quite fell under the warranty for one reason or another. My check engine light has been on for the better part of the last six months and upon each costly and time consuming trip into the dealership, I received a bill and a car that would inevitably have the check engine light re-ulluminate after only a few weeks. Approaching the end of my warranty, the games they played were unbelievable. Costly unecessary diagnostic tests and every trick in the book in an effort to avoid servicing under warranty. After independent inspection it was determined that the car needed chains, an expensive and warranty-covered job - which they did not want to do. Weeks of gamesmanship just waiting for that odometer to trip over 100k. I finally just had it - driving up to Rosenthal Land Rover in DC to trade the car in, take a bath financially and buy a CPO Jeep. It breaks my heart - the Rover brand is like an abusive but handsome boyfriend - makes your heart race - but just plain bad for you in every way. On top of that, Richmond Land Rover service is inept and arrogant - a bad combination. My only assumption is that they rely upon uber wealthy customers who never question bills or demand customer service. Stay away or get out your checkbook. read more
