Stopped by while traveling Route 66 after seeing all of the billboards indicating it was one of the top burgers on Route 66. Server was attentive and did her best to work through the after church rush. There was a line out of the door and we had to wait a bit, but not longer than 10 minutes or so. Food was cooked well, even with a few special requests of the kitchen (blame a picky eater in the fam). Overall we agreed that the server was great (attentive, nice, and knowledgeable) and the food was typical of a tourist attraction (not the best, but OK). The biggest issue was the food was slow out of the kitchen (approximately 45 minutes after arrival we received our food), but we had a view of the kitchen and the cooks were running around like a machine (actually working, and definitely doing their best to keep up with the rush). Road trip stop. Service was quick and waitress was friendly. We ordered a patty melt (split it) and a side of onion rings. (I had read somewhere that their onion rings were really great.) Not as impressed by those (the best are found, in my opinion, are The Joint in Eddyville KY ..but I digress). That said? The Patty Melt may be the best I ever had in my life. PERFECT. Heard great things about this place. On way to St. Louis we stopped off. Located in cute part of charming town, plenty of parking. All the staff looked up when we walked in but nobody acknowledged us, stood waiting for a few minutes until someone came over and seated us. The service here is always great but tonight's meal was extremely disappointing. Got the chicken fingers which is 3 chicken strips w/ fries. The fries had WAY too much salt on them. Even after wiping off the salt I could barely eat them. The chicken was slightly overcooked so the outside was super crispy/crunchy and the honey mustard dipping sauce is made with Dijon so it has that weird twang. I couldn't even eat it. Threw 1/2 the meal away which sucks b/c I can't really even afford to eat out right now; I just needed a break from cooking all the time. $10 down the drain. I am from out of the area, but I do visit this area at least three times a year for more than two weeks at a time they have by far the best burger that I've had in the state. My husband and I went here recently while we were vacationing. We liked our waitress and my husband thought she did a good job. I got the breakfast burger with cheese curds and he got the barbecue burger with onion rings. We both would give our food a three 3 and thought it tasted very average. My grandson was with a party of 10 on 1/17/25 in the evening. He ordered a catfish sandwich to go the waitress said it would be better to get the catfish dinner to go so that's what he ordered along with an Italianbeef sandwich. Paid for it. He took the receipt in to either get his money back or the food and riches refused to do either.
