First: This restaurant built a new building south of Int. 44. Second: l Hate It when my waitress calls me, "Honey". I know it sounds snobby and this is a country place, but still. Food was good enough, arrived hot, but everything was bland. I had the fried chicken with a baked potato and the corn....really bland. He had the catfish and liked it. Du Kum Inn is gone!! We sure miss them alot. They had the best home cooked food in our area. The restaurants around Sullivan, MO are mostly fast food. The Silo, which took over DKI a few years ago, doesn't come close to DKI. Sullivan, MO really needs a GOOD HOME COOKED MEAL RESTAURANT with the quickness. read more

On way home and decided to stop in. This is an establishment that's been in business for a while. Walking in you feel as though you are stepping into a family home. Quaintly decorated. The menu is more home style comfort type foods. I had the chicken fried chicken, and was so pleasantly happy on how good it was. Not greasy at all. Perfectly cooked. Had it with mashed potatoes and corn, two awesome sides to pair with it. Parents had the catfish dinner, which again fried to perfection and not greasy at all. Good corn meal type of breading. Atmosphere was wonderful and Sherry, our waitress, was outstanding. The potato skins were well done and covered with cheese. Sherry made sure we had more than enough sour cream. The salad was fresh and the homemade croutons melted in our mouths. The steaks are at market price but gotten locally (angus beef ). My with had the sirloin and said it is one of if not the best steaks she has ever had. I did the 8 oz rib eye. Both just melted in our mouth, seriously no need to chew or work hard for the taste. We are so looking for another trip ( we live about 35 miles away) to try the seafood, the catfish is hand breaded on site. read more

Well ! We went back ! Not that great ! Going back to CB (Cracker Barrel) this place just has a lot to correct ! The place is way to large for the staff they have. Our waitress was very nice but there was no way she could keep up with the tables they gave her especially when she got a 9 top . It took forever for service and food. We had to ask for dessert, she never offered.. something all waitress's should do ! We did get the dessert which should have been served warmed up was not that great bread pudding. We waited for coffee for 15 mins. Never never got it ! We were done at this point ... ! The place just can not handle what they have built... we see several people leave . No one I mean no one greets u at the entrance. Very sad ! We will now take a 6 month break from this place .. Also steaks are sold at Market Value $30 for 8oz strip .. Nice building, decor is also nice! Service was very disappointing. Didn't get a single refill and absolutely could NOT find the waitress when we were ready to leave. Asked two other servers for our waitress and first one didn't come back either and the second one (asked) just said she couldn't find our waitress either. "50+" item salad bar must be counting the different salad dressings because I didn't see anything close to 50 different items, unless you count the dressing, crackers, seeds, croutons and bacon bits, then you might be getting close! Nice new building with gorgeous fireplace. But service leaves too much to be desired. Staff walked back & forth and no one borhered to greet us until a young man finally asked to seat us. Drinks ordered but had to ask for straws and coffee creamer. I believe a good server would ask if we need these things before bringing drinks or at least when they deliver sodas. And did you know you get dinner rolls? Had to ask since three tables got some that were sat after we were. She didn't even ask if we wanted them. This restaurant is awesome! The service and hospitality from the people who work here were awesome! So friendly, so helpful! Above and Beyond the call of duty. In a town with chain restaurants this place stands out! We came here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. I had a BLT and it was one of the best BLT's I have ever had! I am a trained chef, and thats saying something! I would recommend stopping here, it was well worth the time to stop and get something awesome to eat. I was driving on I-44 around dinner time a saw a outdoor billboard sign for the Du Kum Inn Testaurant. The sign said they offered the best fried chicken in the State of Missouri. I thought what the heck! I will give that a try. I pulled over to the Sullivan Exit and entered the restaurant. This isn't anything fancy... they serve home-style food. What they do, they do very well. They were offering a two piece fried chicken dinner that day, so I selected that. The chicken was juicy and tender. It came with a side salad, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy and warm rolls. This was a great dinner. I finished it off with a slice of home made cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This restaurant was one of very few allowing dine in when we were in the area. It didn't look like much from the outside, and the name was hilarious, but it was a decent place to eat, when you're hungry. The food was OK, except the fries were terrible, like they'd been sitting for a day. The service wasn't very good either. I wouldn't stop again, but I'm glad we tried it. read more

Good breakfast, good service My husband and I had a good breakfast at this restaurant. I had coffee, eggs over easy, sausage, pancakes and a piece of rye toast. I recall liking the pancakes a lot. We ordered off the menu. The service is good. We arrived a bit late for the breakfast buffet. The server told us that the buffet would not be replenished; whatever was there was all that was available. We didn't want the buffet anyhow. A young boy arriving after us looked longingly at the almost empty tub of bacon on the buffet table. The server brought out more bacon, and the boy was very happy. I was pleased that the server allowed this family to better enjoy the buffet. If we pass through Sullivan again, we would enjoy returning to this restaurant. read more

I have to say I was pretty impressed with this place, it's nothing to look at pretty dated inside. However it is clean and the food is good and after a day of travel that is what my family and I needed. The staff is very friendly! They are also pretty speedy, I had the Strawberry Vinaigrette Salad, it came with rolls it was very good, super filling and tasty. My Mom had patty melt and she loved every bite of it. My Step Dad has the Saturday Special it was a Rib Eye steak metal he really enjoyed. We would definitely kum back in :D read more

No matter how much perfume you put on a pig it's still a pig. Food is way overpriced, for what you get. The new place is to big they can not staff it right. Du Kim Inn was always a mom and pop breakfast place since the 1960's. If you think this is a Steak House you need to get out a little more. read more

The ribs fell apart and the sauce had the right amount of sweet. The fries were nice and crunchy. The strawberry mocha was delicious. The pie is definitely for a caramel/pecan fan with a cool cheesecake center. The patty melt is not listed but 5 stars for it. The bread is great and not too much onion. The meat is cooked just right. I would describe it as a homemade version of the Steak 'n Shake patty melt. read more

A true hidden gem, this place knows how to make you feel like home! It lives up to its name, "Best fried chicken in Missouri " The chicken fried chicken with mashed tators and steamed broccoli is out of this world!! Husband had the three pig sandwich (pork chop fritter, thin sliced ham and abundant bacon). Their Hand made onion rings are rare to find! When you bite into it, crust doesn't slip off!!!!! We didn't even have room for one of the home made pies! definitely next time we come back! Sherri was so attentive, sweet and pretty! Please tip your waitresses!
