Just ate at Rich's Original Ice Cream in Toms River. Excellent! All of our flavors were creamy and delicious.

Put a sign up that says no dogs inside the building and I'll change it to 5 stars. This place has top notch ice cream. But I'm allergic to dogs. Especially long haired dogs. And I had to wait in line today as expected on a summer evening. And someone was in there with their dog. Not a service dog. Such a mangy pet. Not only that, but the dog was licking something from a cup on the floor. Sounds like a major sanitation red flag. Not only is that wildly disgusting but it's not exactly the experience I was looking for when o wanted ice cream tonight. I didn't ask for an allergy attack and dog hair in my ice cream. There's ZERO reason for a dog to be inside this small space with open ice cream. Foul. read more

I always pass by this place but never actually entered until today. It was super cute inside. A lot of different varieties and even had pup cups. Pretty small inside no seating area inside only outside benches. The lady was lovely and love the story behind the shop. It was so wholesome to read their story outside the shop. I got the medium waffle cone with cookie dough and cookies n cream. Love the decors. Not busy when we went it was just us. read more

OMG WOW. I came up from Florida because I have heard of this world famous Ice Cream Sundae and its name is Cannoli Speciality Sundae. Let me tell you folks the Sundae has enter the ring and it took the title. The Cannoli Speciality Sundae is now the World Famous Cannoli Speciality Sundae. It whoops the butts of any other sundae hands down. Don't get me wrong Rich's has so many great choices to pick from and the surveys have stated they are contenders for the world famous. You must try them all. The ice cream was creamy, the cannoli cream had my eyes roll to the back of my head to such a delight, the cannoli shell, chocolate syrup and chocolate chips put together makes this the Sundae to get. The cozy atmosphere of this ice cream shop is adorable. The staff was grand and glorious with their huge smiles, respectful service and the grandeur politeness. They were on point and get that pat on the back they deserve. Look at that smile with the great service (see picture attached). Two things they need to do. Get rid of that 3.99% charge on credit cards and most importantly open up more ice cream shops specially in the Orlando area. I used to go to the old location by the 7 eleven quite often, back in high school and summer breaks in college. It was probably my favorite ice cream shop in Toms River. I was sad to see the old place close down a few years ago. Rich's 2 (next to Burger 25) is ok, but I feel like their ice cream just isn't quite as good. In fact, I was just there the other day and tried a key lime gelati (with key lime water ice and vanilla soft serve). It wasn't great. I thought that a chain place like Rita's made a much better tasting gelati- not a good sign. Imagine my excitement when I drove by and saw signs that they were having a grand opening today at this new location! I even arrived in time to see the mayor show up for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Well, the good news is that the ice cream is as delicious as I remember, and the even better news is that they're open for business, 7 days a week from noon until 10pm. It's a perfect stop after a day at the beach! I'll definitely be a regular here to try the different flavors. Soft serve, hard ice cream, sundaes, flurries... You can't go wrong! What a delightful surprise to stumble upon this wonderful ice cream shop!! We had an unremarkable dinner next door at Theresa's Osaka and decided to stop at Rich's afterwards for dessert. Let me tell you, this was some of the BEST ice cream either of us has ever had, not counting the best Italian gelato or our favorite, Ben & Jerry's. It is very dense and super creamy and loaded with flavor. The sign said it is homemade and we believed it. I had the hard ice cream - coconut and cookies and cream - heavenly! Hubby had a milkshake made with the cherry hard ice cream and it too was amazing. Others have said this is cash only, but I think that has changed because I used a credit card. I am new to the area and fell in love with Rich's ice cream. My favorite flavor is the chocolate chocolate chip and I also enjoy buying the pack of ice cream cannolis. What I love most about Rich's is that they have affordable prices and they give a large quantity of ice cream! They are also clean and the staff is friendly. We usually go here all summer long. We went this year day after opening day and I think this might have been the problem. A simple order of medium hard vanilla but maybe the freezers weren't cold enough but the ice-cream was not hard at all it was almost as soft as the soft that comes from the machine. I even put it in my home freezer for about half-hour. It was still soft when it came out and tasted bland. Maybe they should lower the temperatures before opening day - I don't now what the problem was but the only reason Im posting this is because it's not cheap - $5.95 for a medium hard ice-cream ! ! ! I'm placing them on probation until 4th of July weekend and Ill be going to Mrs. Walkers til that time. My wife's ice cream which was a different flavor was also very soft so I guess the freezer was the problem. Sad really charging premium money for an inferior product. read more

So happy!!!!!! The customer service was great!! We had Ryan helping us and he convinced us to try some ice cream even though we were about to leave looking for frozen custard. Tried it, and it was amazing!!! He let us try all the flavors we asked, and told me which were gluten free because of my allergy. The ice cream was amazing and so was the customer service. Could possibly be the best ice cream on the planet. Recently, Rich's branched out into hard ice cream but they are known for their soft ice cream. They always have 9(?) flavors available including vanilla and chocolate. This has been a family run business since it opened in the 50s and they take a lot of pride in their quality and service. In addition, they have come up with creative ice cream sundaes that are fantastic. For example, the cannoli sundae features your choice of ice cream (pick vanilla, thank me later) surrounded by cannoli cream, cannoli shells,chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, whipped cream and a cherry. Rich's has, hands down, the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had. It's as thick as a custard, Rich's I has more flavors of soft serve, but Rich's II (near 37 & Vaughn) has more hard ice creams and you don't have to wait outside. I recommend the soft serve chocolate. read more
