I have seen so many Instagram posts about this viral Texas sized cinnamon roll. On Saturday they had a parade and festival going on in Boerne. I decided to go pick up one. Reviews say that the line is long and sometimes they run out. I am not sure if everyone was watching the parade I got lucky. There was not even a wait time. Everyone was so friendly! I took my order enjoyed looking at it and comparing it to the size of my head lol. Then I went asking how can I heat it up. I wanted it for Father's Day my dad loves cinnamon rolls. Turned out the one given to me is heated and the frosting makes it not good to be reheated. They did not hesitate to grab another one and give it to me. I offered to pay for it.... Nope! You take it and enjoy! I didn't touch the other one and I tried to give it back. Nope! Both are yours! There was a customer an older man I gave it to him. They didn't even show any sign of annoyance from this whole event. I got nothing but smiles and welcomes! I heated it yesterday as suggested. The chef is very smart the way she rolls it. You would imagine a doughy taste in the middle from how huge it is. All I can say it is perfection! Each layer of it tasted better than the other! I simply had to try the monster Cinnamon roll while I was visiting family in the Boerne area. My sister and I had the advantage of being the first two in the door that morning. I guess the only surprise I had was being asked if I wanted to heat the roll to eat it now. I figured they would all be fresh at open, but who knows. They aren't cheap, but they are massive and worth the $$. If I hadn't been traveling, I'd have taken some of that gorgeous looking sourdough loaf off their hands as well. read more

Stopped by Richter Bakhaus recently and overall had a really good experience. The pastries were fresh and clearly made with care. The cinnamon roll was huge and soft, with great flavor--but honestly, it had a bit too much glaze for my taste. It tipped from "perfectly sweet" into a little overpowering. Still good, just something to note if you don't love heavy icing. Friendly and welcoming staff. The only downside was that their espresso machine was down during my visit, which was a bit of a bummer if you're hoping for a full coffee experience. Really charming spot. It has that cozy, small-town bakery feel with a nice atmosphere to sit and relax for a bit. Definitely a place you'd want to hang out on a slow morning. Came in to grab the giant cinnamon roll to-go as a surprise for my husband -- he loves cinnamon rolls, and I was excited to treat him. I may have hyped it up a little too much though, because it ended up being just okay. To be fair, I usually go into the city and will even drive about 45 minutes to a bakery off De Zavala for my cinnamon roll fix, so I might have set the bar pretty high. Came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm and the ladies behind the counter were so nice and helpful. They took their time with each customer and didn't make anyone feel rushed. I know because the couple in front of me took forever to order. When it was my turn, I ordered one large $10 cinnamon roll to take home and an oatmeal raisin cookie for $3. I don't know if they forgot the icing or if it doesn't come with icing for the cinnamon roll but that didn't bother me. I appreciated them writing 350" degrees for 4 minutes" on the box, but I just did 30 seconds in the microwave and it was delicious!! The right combination of doughy and cinnamon. I'm not sure if the cashier made a mistake, but she gave me 2 oatmeal raisin cookies!! Thank you!! Now, I've tried a lot of oatmeal raisin cookies in my day, but these have got to be top 3. And I'm saying this while eating the cookie TWO days after I purchased it, and it's still moist and delicious. The perfect crisp on the edges, but soft on the inside. I think the only downside I saw was that the parking lot right in front of the bakehouse requires you to pay. I'm not sure if there's free parking elsewhere, but $10 for 1 hour is kinda crazy (and that's the cheapest/shortest time frame). I will definitely be back!! We enjoyed our dinner here. Somehow, downtown Mesa has become Super busy. We tried several appetizers and a couple cocktails. All were well plated, full of flavor, and worth repeating. First time to the bakery part of Richter. My husband had the cinnamon roll prior and said we have to go back for that when you're back in Boerne. I'm sure there are other pictures but the cinnamon roll was literally as big as my head. Had really good flavor, soft and a ton of frosting. We asked for it to be warmed but there were some areas that were not warm (cool actually) but it didn't change the gooey goodness of the roll. They could consider offering to add pecans for a small up charge, but again, very good. We also got a sausage kolache-- that was a full (polish style) sausage with cheese and good breading. Prices were reasonable --$10 cinnamon roll and $5.50 for the kolache. Typical coffee and tea menu to choose from, again, reasonably priced (small coffee $2). There is outdoor seating as well as seating in their vestibule. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. We've enjoyed all areas at the Richter and would recommend to others and plan to return. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it blew up on TikTok. So, on Saturday the day before Easter we visited and ordered 2 kolaches, a slice of the bread pudding and the cinnamon roll. All items were delicious and eaten in their entirety. The establishment was very busy, but only had one register with staff that seemed to be discombobulated. It took about 10 minutes after placing our order for receipt of said items. My only complaint about the place was the parking which is to be paid. Is a big building with several businesses inside no free parking or private so you park on a very busy street if you find a parking hopefully you close to walk back and go in the front door to the other side about 100ft or so go out and the hole on the wall door is on your left yippee found it. The young lady was eating something so was unable to respond to my comment about how hard is for other town visitors to find this place lol finally she was able to talk and I asked about the cinnamon rolls she said they still have some. THE. BEST. CINNAMON. ROLE. EVER We are talking caramelization, vanilla bean icing, moist and gooey goodness. It's as fabulous as you can imagine. You are missing out if you haven't tried this yet. The actually bakery had many different options from fresh made bread and biscuits to ice cream to cookies and even banana bread. I would highly recommend stopping by. The only downside is you need to park on the street or just park within view of your car from the bakery. The tapas place next door owns the parking lot and charges for parking, so just be aware of that. read more

It was our first time to this restaurant, which happened to be Veterans Day. They were able to accommodate our party of 10 right away. Great atmosphere. It was a little pricey, but inflation has impacted everything. Service was great. Our server was informative, friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. I had the burger and fries. My husband had their ruben sandwich with their house made chips. The burger was tasty. Not really anything special, but it was a good sized burger. Sadly the fries were not good by any stretch of the imagination. They were dry, as in dehydrated. My guess is they were either baked or air fried, even though they looked like they were deep fried. Whatever the cooking method, I didn't like it. My husband tasted them and he too agreed with me. Conversely my husband thoroughly enjoyed his ruben sandwich, which was piled high! Their house made chips were absolutely delicious! Others in our group had tomato soup, salad, pizza. I don't remember what everyone had, but they all seemed to enjoy whatever they ordered. I recommend this restaurant if you're ever in Boerne. However I would suggest requesting their house made chips instead of fries. read more

This place has some amazing treats. If you are looking for gluten free treats, this place is for you. Although I didn't try any, they did have a great selection. My wife and I shared the Texas size cinnamon roll. It was amazingly good. The drawback, it was a little hard to cut through on the bottom. Probably because it so big but it was gooey at the center. The staff were very busy but they were friendly and efficient. The place was cute and clean. Unfortunately, we were there on a cold day and didn't realize the only seating is outside. My bad that I didn't check their hours. I did not realize they don't open until 9:00. We got there at 8:30 so we had coffee at Black Rifle to kill time. We placed our order to go: 2 cinnamon rolls, 2 scones and 1 peanut butter cookie. I hate writing negative reviews but the scones were hard and bland. The cinnamon rolls were so tough we could barely cut them with a knife or kitchen shears. And it was impossible to tear them apart. The cinnamon part was absolutely delicious as was the icing. While visiting Boerne for Dickens on Main, we decided to pop into the Richter Bakhaus for a coffee. While there, we decided to try the cinnamon roll that we had heard so much about (Instagram). I was SHOCKED at how big it was when it came out in the to-go box. The fake one they have in the display case didn't do it justice nor does my photo... it's truly massive. The icing is given to you on the side which I thought was a bit odd but it wasn't a problem. Both the cinnamon roll and the icing were some of the best I've ever had plus the price was super reasonable for it ($5 for the giant roll)! Every person that came in while we sat there and ate our roll/drank the coffee ordered a roll after seeing ours and were equally as impressed. We also ordered an Americana and a coffee. Unfortunately, they were out of the sugar free syrups but the coffee was good regardless. Overall- this was a great stop on our trip to Boerne. Started at the Richter Tavern for lunch. Served a great salami sandwich on sourdough bread; bread made by their Richter Bakhaus. We drove quite a distance because of the hype of this $10 cinnamon roll, and we were sorely disappointed. The girls working behind the counter were very nice, and the shop was cute. That is where my compliments end. We had them heat the cinnamon roll, but the outside was as hard as a brick, and the roll was so very dry on the inside. No moist center like we love when it comes to cinnamon rolls. One more compliment: The icing was the best thing about the cinnamon roll. It was very good. Interestingly, we were shown a screen to leave a tip after we paid for the cinnamon roll, and there was a tip jar on the counter. The owner has bragged here on Yelp that they sell 200 cinnamon rolls a day. If you are earning $2000 a day from cinnamon rolls, please consider giving your workers a raise so they don't have to ask for tips in an establishment that only offers counter service. read more
