Mediocre food + racial profiling = will not return. An old white man (owner? FHM? Idk) came over to our table after we had finished eating. He addressed the table making recommendations that the women visit the boutique next door. When it came time to address the men, he looked directly at the head of the table where one of my Hispanic family members sat (who has dark skin) and asked "Do you understand English?" before encouraging the "men to come back and look at their upcoming gun and watch collection. Not even to mention the food. Chicken and waffles? More like chicken and fryer grease. When I pushed to the side when I was finished eating is what slid off the chicken immediately after I put my fork on it. I had a bad encounter last time i went . I bought a bottle of champagne and on the menu it stated $28 and it also stated $28 on the small menu but when the lady rang it up it was ringing up as $34 even though it said everywhere it was $28 . she simply stated sorry idk who makes them menus lol and didn't bother to try and figure out why it was like that or really do anything about it . This was very irritating. The food wasn't great either sadly for the price you pay it should be better. The shrimp and grits were cold and odd tasting with goat cheese. My chicken salad sandwich was soggy :/ the french fries were good! Didn't like my chi tea but i will say im really picky about my chi. The french toast wasn't anything spectacular. I really wanted to say good things but i really don't have a lot of things to say. The service wasn't all that great either we were very thirsty during our time. Parking is hard , only one bathroom. there is a very cute boutique that they share with that has absolutely the cutest things in there. True miss for me. Service was incredibly lacking and pastries completely tasteless. Long story short, this was a traditional Boerne stop. Boerne visit, Denger pastry. But, this was the last time. Denger is a very quaint and charming place. Maybe, less quiant this time around. We ordered a small pie and a cookie with frosting. We also order two coffees. The coffee was terribly bitter. I couldn't finish mine. Both desserts were flavorless and bland. They also were not cheap. But, the straw that broke the camel's back, was the way we were treated. Previously, one could purchase dessert, and coffee, then sit down somewhere. It was quirky because they also had staff serving at the tables. This time around, when we sat down, we were told the system had changed. Next time, stop at the hostess area. I understand change, I didn't get the attitude, because it was a scolding. The space is beautiful, and everyone was so welcoming. The owner, Raymond, even came by to introduce himself and even offered something special for the children. Raymond is very personable. He personally recommended a few items from their menu. The EGGS CIBOLO did not disappoint! Was in Boerne for the day and we decided to swing by for lunch upon a recommendation. It's a really cute place with a coffee counter, cafe, boutique, and a snowcone stand. Whew the wait was long! Luckily they have a million things to look at while you wait. This place is a bistro and boutique. When we finally got seated, 3 of us decided to not split a bottle for mimosa's and opted to have our very own bottles and we had a time!!! The mimosa's were flowing from my own bottle so I soaked it up with the egg white frittata and French toast with vanilla custard. A great location in a lovely historical building. Servers and staff tentative and helpful. I had the "huevos rancheros" it was the "dish with the most flavor" . I found it flavorless. The black beans were season free as well as the eggs. The only thing with flavor was the roasted veg and I wasn't sure why they were calling it huevos rancheros, two eggs over easy and a side of breakfast potatoes and flavorless bean paste would have been more on point. The cappuccino tasted bitter and burnt, I added a load of sugar to make it palpable. If you are looking for a lovely setting this place is fantastic...try the croissant breakfast sandwich. Stopped in this morning for breakfast. We had never been here before. I had the Hill Country Breakfast, which included eggs, potatoes (so good), and homemade sausage, which I believe they should package and sell. ( delicious). I would give it 5 stars, but I wish my bread was toasted with butter, the wait staff was nice but it was on the slower side, it did get pretty loud with other groups as well. After hearing so many wonderful things about the Dienger, I was finally able to visit for lunch. My order was simple, a chicken salad sandwich. While it was served just as described, the overall taste was a bit underwhelming and the portion seemed a bit smaller for the price. On the other hand, the service was quite good. Most of the servers were either teens or young adults and all whom I encountered were pleasant, polite, and professional. One thing about this place is that is a little different from most is the fact that one side is a restaurant and the other a boutique. Although the clothes are a bit pricey, the store has a cute ambiance and unique finds make shopping here fun. read more

So I'm writing this review after two separate trips. First trip, almost everyone's order was brought out wrong and the service was seriously lacking. They didn't care when it was brought to their attention. We didn't go back for a long time. Second trip was more of the same. We ordered drinks and had to ask twice to get them, watching our server seat and serve drinks to tables that arrived much after we did. Took him forever to take our order also. Can't eat arugula and asked if it was a part of the micro greens on the avocado toast. Server didn't know, didn't want to ask, only offered to leave everything off. Since I do want micro greens so it's not plain toast I asked him to check. Asked for gluten free toast, egg fried hard (specifying no runny or soft yolk). Came with no micro greens and asked the guy who brought it why it didn't have it and he said server said I didn't want any, which is not true and so frustrating that he didn't listen to me. Asked for them and asked him to check that the egg was fried hard, which he said oh yes of course it is. So he brings back the plate as it was with a side bowl of greens for me to put on it. I looked at the egg and it was clearly sunny side up, very runny and leaking all over my plate. Asked for new eggs, which took until everyone else was completely finished with their meals. It takes 2mins to fry an egg, so they just didn't care to make it correctly the first time or make it right after they messed up. So while I'm sitting there, not eating because I want it all together as it's supposed to be, I go to put the micro greens on the toast. A good 1/3 of them were slimy rotten and had to be picked out. Gross. Finally my eggs come and while they are firmer, the yolks were still soft and gooey. It's not that hard to cook eggs properly. After all that, no apology, no manager, nothing. In fact the only thing he did quickly was bring the bill. Basically they consistently do not listen to customers orders, do not execute what was ordered, do not care to expedite a correction when they mess up, and are inattentive. If they could solve the service and execution issues, the food might be good, but it's just such a hassle, it's not worth it. read more

We really loved the vibes with the coffee, select pastries, restaurant with local artists art for sale on the wall, and boutique store as a one-stop-shop. However we weren't treated by the waitress or boutique workers well. It wasn't really busy at the resturant but the waitress that we had didn't stop by our booth but frequently checked in with other tables. We waved them down but they didn't seem that nice when we wanted to order more. It was relatively busy in the boutique but the worker/manager felt they should keep a close eye on me by standing by me everywhere I went. Not sure if it was because I am POC compared to the rest of the town. It made me feel awkward when there are other people who were ready to be rung up but the manager/worker felt it was a priority to check in with me every moment I touched something. Went on a winery tour and stopped for lunch in Boerne. We were recommended this place by our tour guide. It's a boutique/cafe/coffee shop/bakery all in one. We checked in and were told we had a 30 min wait so we ordered coffee and mimosas while we waited. As soon as we got our coffee we were called to our table so really it was more of a 10min wait. Our server was sweet and knowledgeable. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and delicious. We didn't get to spend alot of time in the boutique since we were on a schedule. However when you first walk into the boutique it smells delicious and I hope they sell a candle or a room spray with that scent. Overall it's a great experience. Downer that the Dienger has gotten so bad. Only reason for 2 stars is that it's located in such a neat historic building and it's nice to sit there. But be prepared to wait forever to get your food. The new owners of The Dienger have really mismanaged this place. Staff has no training. The food seems to be premade frozen items. The hash browns are exactly what you'd get at McDonalds but soggy. The regular potatoes are definitely from a bag and reheated as well. The food is so bad now. I can't bring myself to go anymore. Strictly for tourists wanting to pay for overpriced bad quality food.
