The quality of everything at Richwood's Meat company is fantastic. Been coming here for years to purchase tri tips, burgers, briskets, steaks & sandwiches from the deli. Have used them for several functions. I love that they will cook and slice so you can pick up and go. Deli trays are also great. The service is another great part of this establishment. I finally stopped by this local meat company and deli and it did not disappoint. The tri-tip sandwich was fantastic -- tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The portion was extremely generous and piled high with meat. For $10, it's honestly one of the best values I've come across. What really stood out was the customer service. The staff was welcoming, patient, and very attentive when answering my questions about the menu and their meats. I had also inquired about their chili beans, which is made in house, and the young lady kindly offered me a sample, which was delicious! That will probably be my new side. If you're a fan of tri-tip (or meat), this place is definitely worth checking out. They also had precooked meat that you can purchase. I love that for a quick meal prep. Twice I ordered beef from this place and twice they messed up my order. I ordered a prime rib over three weeks ago and even followed up to make sure the roast will be ready For pick up 12/28 for our annual prime rib dinner. Richwood never lets me down. If I want to go in there and get a quick snack like a sandwich or some side salads or just two ribs, or a roasted chicken leg... they got me. Great selections of meats. If you don't see something that you want, ask for it. I like to get some thinly sliced ribeye for Philly cheese steaks, and they always get it bring it out for me. Although you can find plenty of meat markets in the area, this is the last butcher shop of it's kind that specializes in coveted cuts for personal home use. You can shop at any store around for ground beef and roasts, but in order to take home quality selections such as Cowboy steaks (Bone-In Ribeye) and Prime Rib, you need a shop that knows what they are doing and this place surely has their S*** together. The problem with richwood meat is the customer service is lacking while the product and price are good. Whenever I go in the staff behind the counter is very unfriendly and act as if I'm wasting their time. Today I went in and held the door as an employee wheeled 3 boxes out for another customer. This left one person to run the counter and there were two people already waiting in line. I waited and looked around and waited and looked some more until finally the woman behind the counter yelled for some extra help. An older man came from the back and asked who was next...I replied and said the 2nd gentleman was waiting. The woman said no, he was just waiting on a sandwich to be made but then said the man she was helping needed cheese sliced. So I patiently waited some more as the man sliced the cheese. The first employee still had not returned from outside yet either. Finally the woman got done helping and was able to get my various meats sliced. As they were weighed and wrapped the older male employee took the items and slapped them down on the counter in front of me. Taken aback I selected a few more items from the store and went to check out. The older employee then walked to the register and began loudly to discuss random personal stories with the cashier!!! I can only assume he felt the need to ensure that I paid for the products. Honestly!!!! Richwood Meat ---You need to have a separate line for your great sandwiches, lunch items , etc. and one for your store items. Assume that customers who are treated well will return instead of only catering to large bulk customers or else have distinct areas of sale to those buying large amounts versus regular Joe customers. As I was walking out , I saw the employee who had exited at the beginning still wheeling his cart, however empty, while the customer who had bought the boxed meats driving away in his truck and hauler with his bar-b-que business banner on the side. I feel like faster service and more pleasant service is what is holding your business back from really succeeding. In my opinion , you need to open a larger area where you could sell barbeque foods, sandwiches and drinks, perhaps with a place to sit down and eat and a drive-thru...As well as have a renovated mini-store where people could buy deli meats and fresh and frozen meats. To further encourage people stopping you need a turn out built off Santa-Fe Road and a larger parking area. read more

Food is exceptional and not too expensive. They also sell good bones that my dog loves, but the cashier was SO RUDE. Older lady just stood there organizing chips rather than checking us out. (We were the only people there) and she literally ignored us until she was done doing what she was doing. She wouldn't initiate conversation or even smile, she just seemed miserable. read more

I have a house in the bay, but I have to travel to Merced for business often. I stop by Richwood Meat Company every time. The meats are extremely tender, delicious, and well-priced. I typically get a whole beef tenderloin (12 filets) for $55. They have a nice deli counter with sandwiches and chili, and they occasionally have marinated skirt steak, homemade sausage, and/or tri tip. Freaking amazing price for what you're getting. Ordered the tri-tip which was, I believe, the special that day, with extra meat. Ordering was super easy and the chef was able to put the sandwich together rather quickly with a decent line of people waiting. The customer service here is VERY unprofessional. My fiancee and I always spend at least 50$ here every time we go. The workers behind the meat counter always act like we are bothering them. The cashier in the front has actually stood there and ignored us while we were trying to pay! The last straw was when we bought the $79.99 meat bundle and discovered that the 7lbs of sirloin steaks was more like 2 lbs. We called and asked if they would make it right, and they said "Not really". WTF??? We buy a rib roast for Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Year's every year.
