Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2021 The Pandemic Chronicles Finding a good dentist is sometimes like finding a needle in a haystack. Thanks to a simple Yelp search I was able to find Dr. Rick Pan. It was nice to see that a few other of my Yelp friends have gone to him and had positive experiences. The entire office is clean and well kept. They have an amazing fish tank in the waiting room. They are following the proper Covid-19 protocols. It felt very clean and safe. Ian had a great check up with Dr. Rick and his wife Mrs. Julia Pan. Our visits have been great. Our 8 year old son feels very comfortable with his dental visits. The good news is our son has no cavities! I highly recommend Dr. Rick Pan to my family and friends. This office is a one stop shop- they see children and adults. On another note the office is located on the second floor. You have the option to use the stairs or take the elevator. I've been going to one dentist for nearly 30 and when they retired I was in a bit of a pickle finding a new dentist until I was referred to Dr. Pan by a friend. We've been going to Dr. Pan for our dental care ever since he took over the practice from an old friend of ours who had retired about 5 years ago. Ricky (as we called him) is an excellent dentist; he, Julia and the team are professional, warm, efficient and very good about following all the Covid protocol which made us feel safe. He is flexible with his schedule to meet patients' need, good follow up and very calming to nervous patients like myself. I recently had a cracked back tooth extracted, it went much smoother and less painful then I feared. We are happy to recommend him to others. read more

After a few more years seeing this dentist, they are still my top choice in the bay area. I've recently moved further away but still make time to come see this dentist when I'm in the area. I love that they have amazing equipment such as a neat machine that images the inside of your mouth to provide a well-fitted night guard without having to do the unpleasant molding process found in less modern dental offices. Dr. Pan is extremely professional and fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. He's very knowledgeable and can explain things in any of the three languages to help you understand what's happening with your teeth and what needs to be done. I have never felt rushed and always knew exactly was going on with my teeth before leaving the office. When my wisdom teeth started coming in, Dr. Pan made an appointment to see me right away to take a look at them. He was very patient, he answered all my questions and even anticipated questions I hadn't even thought to ask yet. He made sure I understood what was happening at the time and what to expect going forward. He also provided me with care tips and next steps for if I want them taken out in the future. Dr. Pan is very thorough in his work and makes you feel at ease about your pearly whites. Julia is a wonderful hygienist and they make an awesome team! read more

She makes you feel comfortable and does thorough cleanings without any discomfort. Michela the assistant is so sweet and friendly. You can tell she and Dr. Pan make a great team during procedures. Dr. Pan is THE man! He is quick and efficient. I love that he tells you what is happening at every step of what he is about to do. I've had two cavities filled by him and I can whole heartedly say I was so comfortable I could have fallen asleep! Everyone on this team genuinely cares about each patients well being. Been trying to find a good dentist for a while and I'm so glad my coworker recommended me to Dr Pan. Him and his staff were professional and very friendly. I am usually very nervous when going to the dentist but he assured me that he would make the procedure to be as quick and painless as he could. And he was right! Throughout the procedure he would make sure I was ok and asked if I needed a break to ease my mind. Would highly recommend! His waiting room is also very calming! Dr. Pan and Julia are phenomenal! They are so incredibly warm, friendly, and excellent at what they do. Dr. Pan is always taking courses to further his dental knowledge and is very professional. I've been so impressed by all the precautions he's taken to make sure all patients and staff stay healthy and save during this pandemic. I've had a variety of dental issues - from getting my teeth knocked a little loose from a rambunctious toddler to having an old filling fall out while flossing, and he always responds right away and squeezes me in. He's even open on Saturdays! My husband and I trust them completely and have recommended them to lots of friends. Now, many of our neighbors are patients too. I've been coming to Rick for the past year or two for cleanings, and most recently for a couple of fillings. He and his staff have always been very friendly, and each time I come he makes sure to inform me what I'm doing right, doing wrong, and what I need to improve on to keep my dental hygiene up. He's very informative and is always happy to answer questions. I had two fillings to take care of my last visit, and I got in and out in just about in hour, and he periodically made sure I was doing OK throughout the whole thing. As the saying goes...'don't judge a book by its cover.' This dentist office is a hidden gem!! I was skeptical at first when I pulled up in the business district's parking lot because it seemed pretty empty and the appeal is far from what I imagined it to be. But wow, did this Doc. proved me to be wrong. My criteria for evening rating a 4 star place? It is beyond the general appointments and what we can basically search up on Google. I am still mind blown, given the 2 months time frame since I went to his appointment, and try to rate places as fairly as possible. Even now, it is still a 5/5 stars in my opinion. If you have PPO insurance, I would recommend THIS DENIST. Doctor Rick Pan gives a thorough explanation of why problems persists, as in my situation, with bad breath smell and the possible bad bacteria from it being stuck in the teeth. This alone seems like a common sense of thing, but it is BETTER than going to other dentists who simply gives you the response of, "how often do you brush your teeth?," or 'your teeth looks good but remember to brush your teeth a little more.' He gives an honest feedback and I believe that is what we all want. Not to waste our hard earned money on people who simply want to just rob us of it. If it is the practice of quickly brushing our teeth is wrong, I do not mind being told that we need to spend an additional 2-3minutes to brush a little extra hard :) read more

Dr.Pan is a great dentist and a great person. He is very knowledgeable in his practice and is great at sharing that knowledge. He makes sure that you are comfortable and knows what he is doing. He is patient and calm, but gets the job done as quickly as he can. The other staff here are also very kind and helpful. They are always there to answer questions and help you with appointment scheduling, getting ready, etc. The facility is also very nice, Dr. Pan himself takes care of the very beautiful fish tank. There is water provided and the waiting room has plenty of magazines to keep you busy. The tools are also very well kept and organized. There are also toys and themes for kids too! read more

My boyfriend's treatment process was time consuming since he had severe tooth decay. Every time the process went very smoothly with Dr. Pan and finally all my boyfriend's teeth problems had gone under Dr. Pan's professional and very patient treatment. Based on his positive and great experience with Dr. Pan's office, I came to do the cleaning, filling two teeth, and adding two crowns. I was amazed by their comfortable and clean office with cute fishes and "nemo" decorations (Dr. Pan or Julia always let me hold one Nemo for relaxing from anxiety.) Julia did cleaning for me and she is so professional and gentle. She also gave me a great "lesson" regarding my teeth x-ray result, why the teeth were decayed, and how to use tooth floss in detail at the first time. She always patiently answers all my concerns during the process. Dr. Pan helped me fill my two teeth and add crowns, he is also very very patient and professional. I am very sensitive to pain and always use anesthetic with my previous dentist, but he is very skilled and gentle and I didn't use it while filling the decayed teeth. (didn't feel pain as well). Every time when I come back from his office, he or Julia always call me back to check with me about my feeling. Dr. Pan never recommends me any unnecessary product, his treatment plan always takes my individual issue and schedule as consideration, and he always explains to me the coming plan openly and clearly. I cannot say more for the great experience there. They are not only professional in treatment process, the most important thing is I can feel that they always care about their patients' needs thoughtfully. I extremely recommend Dr. Pan! read more

I had my cleaning there with julia, she is very sweet and of course professional lady. First time in my life, someone explained so detailed about flossing and how to take care of my gum. (i'll be good and show you result 6 months later) Dr Pan came over to do a quick check up and he is very honest and thinking on the patient's side. I had a couple old fillings from so many years ago, he said only one needs to be done and he explained why. I've heard stories somewhere else that the dentist try to dig as much money as they could (such as doing deep clean than just regular cleaning, making condition sound worse so the patients get panic and pay whatever to fix it). Dr Pan said a few things that we'll just watch for now. They took over the dental office so some of the device may be a little old, but other than that it was great finding a good honest dentist and hygienist. read more

Dr. Pan is new to this area but he seems to be starting out well. I hadn't had my teeth cleaned for awhile and, even though they're still breathtaking, I figured i needed a cleaning for hygiene reasons. I had known the old dentist here behind the old flames restaurant (not there anymore ) and called to make an appointment. Dr. Pan's office is pretty flexible when it comes to scheduling and they had plenty of openings 9 to 6pm, plus Saturday, which is good for me. I didn't have to wait and it's nice this day and age to actually get to spend a lot of time with dentist. He also has a very helpful hygienist who was very chatty but also gentle, and did a good job. Dr. Pan did my x-rays, cleaned my teeth, all with minimal discomfort. Im someone who usually is afraid of people probing in my mouth with sharp things but this wasn't half bad. I finally found a dentist that makes my office visits enjoyable! I have always been nervous about making appointments and the whole process In general. Dr. Pan and Julia were quick and efficient throughout my exam and cleaning. X rays took very little time. My cleaning was a bit more time consuming as it had been a few years since I last saw a dentist. It was however, painless. No sore gums, and I was able to enjoy a lunch almost immediately after! The location is also very accessible from the highway and there seems to be plenty of street parking if the building lot is full. I normally find it hard to get excited about dental matters and usually see normally scheduled cleanings as a chore, but Dr. Pan and his staff actually make me want to go to the dentist more often. I feel so lucky that I found this dentist office. So far he is the best dentist in my life! I went to do regular cleaning, Julia was helping me and did x-ray. Both Julia and Dr Pan explained to the very detail on the situation of my tooth. And gave great recommendation. I do have old fillings need to be taken care of. Since they are not bothering me yet and my insurance is poor on coverage they did not push me at all! And they still remembers my situation after 6 months when I returned for another cleaning!
